The TOA part has a more epic feel to it but these ones do sound kind of similar at that part imo. Not much though.

Hmm, you've got a point there. I've never actually played Tales of the Abyss before, but it sounds like alot of people on this site like it. Is it worth getting the 3DS verson?

Personally, I think the 3DS version is better than the PS2 version, but either way the game is definitely worth getting. The 3DS version has much faster loading times, slightly different timing on the side-quests (actually the timing from the original JP PS2 version of the game), wide-screen, short-cuts on the bottom screen during battle, and some other minor changes. The only downsides are that the graphics look a bit worse (not terribly or annoyingly so, just enough to be noticeable), the animation for skits are not as smooth, and the 3D is good in some parts while not in others. 

 

I highly recommend it.

 

On topic: Yeah, I can kinda hear the similarities.
