Grid 2: Mono Edition to be $190,000

Posted

Video game maker Codemasters thinks $190,000 is a great price point at which to set their upcoming GRID 2 racing game.

Just announced by the company as the world's most expensive video game, the unique GRID 2: Mono Edition is available for pre-order with a price tag of $190,000.  The would-be purchaser would get more than just the game, however, as it also includes a PlayStation 3 on which to play it, an actual 170mph BAC Mono supercar sporting a GRID 2 livery, a day at the BAC factory including a factory tour and time spent with technicians, and a full set of racewear for the driver.

The BAC Mono is a British manufactured, road-legal, ultra-high performance supercar which stars in the game.  Created from high-strength carbon fiber, the BAC Mono is an unrivalled example of light-weight performance engineering and its 2.3 liter, 280 bhp four cylinder power plant will propel its driver from 0-60 m.p.h. in just 2.8 seconds.

At $190,000, GRID 2: Mono Edition has been awarded the Guinness World Records title for the "Most Expensive Video Game Commercially Available - Special Edition".

While the GRID 2: Mono Edition is a one-off, the standard edition of GRID 2 will race into retail next Tuesday, May 28, for a much more standard price.
What the actual firetruck. Why would you even bother to make a game that high price.
