The Story Of Roxas BriarBlood: An OC Story

Posted

1

As usual, Roxas was out later than curfew, but he didn't care; his parents were just lame.

He and Zeke had been to the Tucker cemtery again, messing around beneath the full moon overheard, acting the fool to the view of noone.

Zeke didn't care that Roxas had dyed his once blonde spikes black, Zeke didn't care that Roxas only wore skull tee shirts and faded jeans, Zeke didn't care that Roxas wrote vaugely twisted versions of himself into nightmarish stories that cluttered his Facebook....

Because Zeke wasn't human.

It wasn't that Roxas was EMO, Goth, or even weird, exactly: He knew the black clothes, dark pictures of bloody monsters and skulls, and music by Paramore and Muse drove his parents crazy.

This fact pleased him to no end: he hated his school, his after-school job at the local supermarket, and his parent's many rules, so he rebelled in the only way he had.

" You're roots are showing again, blondie."

Roxas glared at Zeke, who moved soundlessly besides him on the pavement, which shone under the streetlamps from the light rain of earlier.

That Zeke cast no shadow, left no footprints, and was actually stepping up a few inches to hover in the air were all details Roxas had long ago grown used to, and barely noticed anymore.

" Crap, stupid dye is SO no waterproof." He griped, kicking a can into the gutter with a clatter that echoed in the night-still street, the houses all dark and quiet fro the night.

" Well, I'Ve got naturally dark hair. " Zeke teased: he'd told Roxas he'd dyed it to annoy his aunt and uncle before being turned, and it just never changed.

Roxas almost forgot Zeke had been a teen since 1957 most nights.

Their friendship hadn't begun in the normal way: Roxas had met Zeke in the graveyard, as Zeke sat picking his teeth on Mary Lou Maloney's ( TOO SOON GONE FROM US ) ancient tomb.

A year later, Roxas still remembered that first meeting, and mulled it over as they walked.

  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" You know this chick died on prom night?"
Roxas had stared at Zeke, then dressed in a black STFU & GTFO shirt over tattered shorts, his thin legs almost white in the glare of the full moon over sockless skater shoes that had seen better days.
" Huh?"
Zeke had hopped almost gracefully off the ornate stone, guesturing to the carved face on it's surface.
" This Maloney chick.. went up like a Roman candle, prom night, '57. Boyfriend did her in by accident."
" You're morbid."
" You're stupid."
Thus, friendship was born.
".... after all."
" Huh?"
Roxas was jerked out of his rememberances by Zeke's voice, slightly off to the left due to his hovering six feet off the cement.
".... after all."
" Huh?"
Roxas was jerked out of his rememberances by Zeke's voice, slightly off to the left due to his hovering six feet off the cement.
" Dude, get your head outta your butt." Zeke said crudely, picking his teeth with one long nailed finger, the almost canine-like molars catching the weak moonlight eeriely.
" Shud up, Graveboy." Roxas huffed, shuffling along slowly, staring at his black tennis shoes with a glare of hatred.
" Dude, da Fugq?"
Roxas had to laugh: Zeke's persistant " Text Swearing " sure got dumb after a while, but never failed to made him laugh when he felt down.
They walked along in silence, well, ROXAS walked along, Zeke more or less flew.
The mid-Spetember breezes whisteled through the trees in a sound like whispering voices,
the full moon overehead scutteled over by a thin veil of clouds that promised All Hallows' Eve wasn't far off, as Roxas neared his house, his street quiet and dark.
" Later dude. " He called, as he shimmied up the drainpipe with the air of a catburgler, as Zeke flew off to do Go d knew what.
Sliding up his window, Roxas fell to the ground with a soft THUD, and turned to close the shade; his father beat him to it.
" You have a LOT to explain, young man."
The usual: Grounded, no internet, no cellphone, no kidding. Nothing new.
Roxas laid back, listening to music on his black ipod, brooding.
"... all I want to do, is be more like me, and be less like you..."
Not even Muse could fix this one, he thought, switching the device off with a definate click.
He lay on his side, gazing out of the window; the harvest moon was high in the cloudy sky, skuds of black running across it's orange lumionuse surface every now and then like ink spilled from the bottle, creating a very strange atmosphere in Roxas' mind....
and finalized a decison he'd been mulling over for weeks on end.
The night.... he wanted it as his own; to feel the cold moon's glow on his face with each new night, never aging, never having to worry about life or responsabilites again.....
in short: he wanted to join Zeke as a vampire.
" Zeke? It's... it's Roxas.."
Zeke's voice was, as usual, full of pep, deep and lulling.
" Hi hi, dude. Wassup?"
Roxas chose his next words carefully, delicately arranging them.
" I.. I want you to.. come over. "
He took a deep breathe: his next sentence would change his life forever.
No more school, no more restrictions, no more MUSE.... no more sunlight.
" I want you to come over, and make me... what YOU are. "
Silence, cold, chilling silence.
then a sigh.
" I was wondering when it would come to this. "
Zeke's voice was deeper, almost animalistic.
" I'll be right over."
Roxas waited, his heart beating fast, his thoughts chaotic: it was going to happen.
Zeke came over in under three minutes, knocking on the window, eyes glinting in the light.
Roxas stood, and walked over, opening it in a sign that Zeke was free to cross the threshold.
" You know there's no going back: once you do this..."
" I know. Do it. "
Zeke touched Roxas's neck, almost tenderly, running his fingers over the pulsing vein.
" Turn your head, like this..."
Roxas saw Zeke's head lower, and closed his eyes.
He felt Zeke's soft lips touch his skin, almost like a lovers kiss, tender, sweet.
Then, pain, as fangs sliced his skin as easily as paper, digging in.
Roxas felt no more; he fainted, as Zeke began his change into a vampire....
He awoke.
It was dark.
It was cold.
And he was scared.
The moon hung crookedly in the sky like a dropped coin, shining down with a bluish glare the illuminated the room, picking out every detail in perfect clarity that was almost amazing.
