In Japan's feudal era, noble families often had retainers. Other families of lower rank, solely devoted to serving their masters. Today, such family ties remain, though often less formal, or otherwise forgotten. But one girl in particular will meet her retainer for the first time, and it'll turn her life upside down.

Akise nodded, taking a left down a hallway and right at the second door, Sasuke behind her.

"Tell the teacher that you are new and everything will be sorted out." she said seriously, heading to her seat.

Sasuke did so. He got the information he needed and took his seat behind Akise. He was greeted by an adjacent boy with short brown hair and glasses. They exchanged a few short words before class began.

Once that, and several other classes had finished, lunch had come. The bespectacled boy stood and moved one row ahead, leaning against the desk next to Akise. "Who's your friend, rich girl?" He asked.

 

Sasuke sighed. Not another... He mentally prepared himself for another confrontation not realizing the joking sarcasm this boy carried.

"It's none of your business." Akise snapped, glaring at the boy.

"His name is Sasuke and just came here today, is there a problem with me and him?" She asked.

The boy sighed. "Always snappy. I was just curious." He turned to Sasuke. "So you're Sasuke. Hey, I'm Yuichi, Akise's only friend." He held out his hand.

 

Sasuke didn't believe it, but he shook the boys hand anyway.

"Sasuke, whether you deny it or not....Yuichi is my only friend." Akise said seriously.

"Sasuke! I command you to let me sit in your lap until I am kicked out." She snapped..nothing weird about that request....

 

(SARCASM)

"Eh-" Sasuke tried to object but was cut off by Yuichi's laughter.

 

"HAHAHA!! What's up with you, Akise?" He asked. "For once you're acknowledging my existence, and now you're ordering the new guy around?"

"Because I CAN order Sasuke around. That is why." Akise snapped.

"Sasuke, explain to Yuichi why I can boss you around." she said shortly after and more calmly. 

Sasuke took a deep breath before clearing his throat. "You see, Yuichi," he started, "the Sohma family is cursed by angry zodiac spirits has served the Motoyo household for countless generations. I am merely upholding the tradition and dutifully serving my mistress."

 

Yuichi eyed Akise questionably.

"Sasuke is correct..." Akise snapped.

There was a short moment of silence.

"Meaning that I can boss him around!" she exclaimed. 

Yuichi hesitated for a bit before bursting out laughing. "You're seriously gonna let her treat you like this?" He asked Sasuke after calming down a bit.

 

"It is my honor." Sasuke replied bluntly.

 

Yuichi sighed. "Akise, I think this guy has a thing for you." He turned around and began to walk away. "Girls are calling for me. Later."

After Yuichi left, Akise turned to Sasuke.

"Is that what this is about? If you were a normal person then you wouldn't let me boss you around." she said seriously.

"I can offer no guarantee of how normal I am, such of which wouldn't affects my disposition." Sasuke told her.

"But with a different upbringing, without knowing the relationship between our families, your assumption would be correct."

"What is the relationship between our families anyway...?" Akise asked, tilting her head slightly.

She had just meet Sasuke yesterday with no idea of the relationship between their families.

Sasuke couldn't help but shrug. "I honestly cannot explain the relationship fully." He replied. "There was a point when one of my ancestor's was indebted to one of yours, and the bond forged out of such a debt stands to this day. In a way, I'm helping pay my ancestor's debt to yours, by paying it to you." He looked out of the corner of his eye to see Yuichi talking to a familiarly looking girl. I was hoping to avoid further confrontations... He thought to himself.

Akise turned to Yuichi, noticing Sasuke had looked at her.

"That is Mei...Yuichi's girlfriend...Mei hates me." she sighed.

"She hates me mostly because Yuichi is my friend..." Akise said rather sadly; turning to face Sasuke again. 

"No worries." Sasuke assured. "It's likely that she won't cross you anymore, or at least not as much."

He shot an ice cold glare at Mei that could almost be felt in the air. "Not with me around."

"What would you do to her Sasuke. It is illegal to kill people ya know." Akise said.

Mei slowly turned to Sasuke, glaring back before facing Yuichi again.

The school day was actually ending soon. 

"I'm aware of that." Sasuke said bluntly. "But there are many things that aren't..."

As the school day came to a close, Sasuke put his books back in his bag, and repeated so for Akise.

 

Yuchi walked over, bag slung over his shoulder, Mei clinging to his arm. "You two off?" He asked.

 

Mei glared at Sasuke, then Akise, then looked to her boyfriend.

"Where else do you think we're going?" Akise asked Yuichi.

She simply stared back at Mei.

"Well Mei and I're goin out." Yuichi replied.

 

Don't invite us. Sasuke willed.

 

"Plenty of students are staying after for club stuff."

 

Don't invite us.

 

"So I was just curious-"

 

Don't invite us.

 

"if you two were leaving right away or something."

 

Sasuke turned to his mistress. He was not viable to answer this.

Akise looked to Sasuke.

"We really have nothing to do after we get home, so no, we're not leaving right away." She said seriously.

"Why do you ask? Because you sound like you want us to stay....Yuichi." Akise said, turning to Yuichi.

They did have nothing planned when they got home.

"Well, Mei and I were going home." Yuichi replied. "You guys could come if you want." Yuichi paused. Was he realizing Sasuke's and Mei's reluctance? Probably not. "Where do you live, anyway, Akise? You too Sasuke."

"No, we're not going to your house." Akise snapped.

Akise looked at Sasuke.

"It's none of your business where we live." She snapped.

Akise grabbed Sasuke's hand before walking out of the classroom, then out of the school.
