A question pertaining to the Riku Play Arts Kai set...

Posted

I've been quite interested in play arts for, well, as long as I can remember I knew about them.  It's a way of bringing one of my favorite games to life, something I can actually put on a shelf or such.  Sadly of course, they are now hard to come by (And quite expensive to boot D: ), but I've managed to have some I'm keeping my eye on.  Specifically (As the title suggests) the latest Riku play arts Square has put out (The standard Riku Dream Drop Distance figure, not the Tron: Legacy model).  I'm very interested in getting it, but I was hoping to know something about the figure if anyone happens to know.

Firstly, while it's something that doesn't really bother me, I've seen some stuff that leaves me to believe that the Keyblades in the latest sets are made of a, well, rather clunky plastic.  I suppose my question is if anyone considers them to be somewhat cheap or a cop-out on making quality Keyblades?

Another thing I remember seeing is that some parts on the Sora/Riku Tron Legacy figures that I saw in a review had ratchet joints (If you don't know what that is, it's basically a joint that clicks into position as opposed to a smooth rotating axis.)  While I can see the benefits in posing or something like that, I personally hate them.  Does anyone know if it does have any, and if so, which parts?  I'd just like to know what to expect if I do end up purchasing it.  Thanks!

I was going to buy those figures, but once I watched *4:26*

I decided against it.

And what exactly was that?  Her saying that his texture was 'ok'?  His height?  The Keyblade?  Nothing happens at 4:26 :P

I meant, begin at 4:26 and watch from there. Basically, cheap-ass Keyblades was a deal-breaker.

I just wanted to be sure.  I do agree, the Keyblades are a bit of a cop-out.  I'm not sure of what the ones before this series were made out of, but I know they were better quality (I personally don't own one of my own sadly :/ ), though that isn't something that would cause me to not buy it solely.  This is one of the reasons why I asked about the Ratchet joints, as that is something I don't like.  Sadly I don't know anyone who actually owns one, so I can't be sure if I'd want my own :/  I'd personally enjoy seeing a review on the two sets, but there isn't one around *Sigh*
