This summary is a little about Neera's life in KHBBS and KH1 just thought you all should know.

When Neera was five she woke up in Radiant Garden not knowing where she is, how she got there, and any memory of where she came from. As she opened her eye's she saw three people surrounding her, it was Squall/ Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith. Neera got startled as they tried to help her up and she ran away from them cause she never knew who they were, as she was running she bumped into Cloud who was around the corner. She fell down and Cloud knelt down telling seeing if she was okay. Squall/ Leon, Yuffie, and Aerith caught up to Neera. They took care of her ever since, a couple months later Neera met Aqua, Terra, and Ventus which she has no memory of when she's older. (Until she see's Roxas and she get's piece by piece memory of Ventus.) When cloud was leaving when she was eight she begged to go with him and he told her not in till she's older and more better at fighting. Two years after Cloud left, Radiant Garden was swallowed by the darkness and they now lived in Traverse Town. When Neera was fourteen she then recieved a Keyblade, Squall (now changing his name to Leon) was happy for her but in another way kind of jealous, Neera then started practicing on the heartless at Traverse Town and was getting better.

Cloud found them three months later after Neera recieved the Keyblade, Neera begged and begged Cloud so she can go with him. She proved that she was a better fighter and an appropriate age to go with him, after a while Cloud said yes and then her Journey has begun. It will be a long time for Neera to see Leon, Yuffie, Aerith, and Cid again. When Neera turned fifteen they made it to the Olympus Collseum. Malificent appeared and threatened Cloud to awaken the darkness in Cloud's heart more then before, Neera then stepped in knowing the pain Cloud has went through for all those years. Neera made a deal with Malificent which was to fight her and if Neera won she'd leave Cloud and Neera forever, if she lost Neera agreed to go with Malificent and go into darkness but told her to never hurt Cloud or even make him go into darkness again (Neera never wanted to go into darkness, but if it ment to save Cloud she would do it.) Cloud tryed to break the deal but it was to late, she already made the deal, Cloud stood helplessly on the side watching Neera and hoping she would win. At the end of the battle Neera thought she had Malificent beaten and turned to Cloud, while Neera had her back on Malificent, Malificent took her chance and struck Neera down. Neera was almost to the point of being knocked out, but she was barely awake, Cloud told Malificent to cancel the deal and that Neera was just a kid and should have never made the deal in the first place, Malificent didn't care she pushed Cloud aside and pulled Neera to her feet. Malificent took Neera away into darkness.

Malificent kept trying to put darkness into Neera's hearts but her heart kept rejecting the darkness, in till a couple weeks later Riku was there. Malificent used Riku to wake the darkness within Neera's hearts, Neera then gave in. When Neera gave into the darkness she then got another Keyblade, now she has a Keyblade of light and a Keyblade of Darkness. Riku has always been one more step into darkness then Neera so he was able to teach her how to control darkness. After a while of helping Malificent Ansem and his companion Sierakai (I made Sierakai up) stepped in for Riku and Neera, since Riku and Neera craved for more power in darkness they gave in and then they were automatically Ansem's and Sierakai's puppets. Riku and Neera then realized they took the wrong path and faught their way our of the darkness. After Sora and Ansem's battle they closed the door to darkness with the help of Mickey. A little after that they seperated, and Neera will meet Riku at Castle Oblivion!

I have not worked out the detail's about Sierakai cause I JUST created her not to long ago. Sierakai has been with Xehanort ever since the beginning. Anyway now Neera has two Keyblade's to resemble the power with in her, the Keyblade of light (Which is called: The Radiance of Light) and the Keyblade of Darkness (Which is called: The Shadow of Darkness), I was thinking at the end of KHRE:COM she will discover that she can clash the two Keyblade's together and it will transform to a stronger and better Keyblade. (I called this one: The Shadow of Radiance. But she can do that in rare Occasion's, like if Riku or one of her friends is in danger or they make her really mad.) Like I said this story is in working progress, I still haven't got all the detail's about Neera yet, I created her two years ago and now I'm willing to go on with her and make her story.

Depends on what you're going for as for your OC's theme (at least for me) but since you said you're still developing your OCs story, I can't say for certain. I'd use my OC as an example, but I need to be at a computer for that.

Keyblade Name: Guardian's Fortitude

 

Ever since earning the title of Nocturnal Guardian, his name or rather 'designation' is Zero-Four. He was called that for as long as he could remember, and in turn forgot his real name. It is usually customary for Guardians to let their assigned princess of light give them a new name if discovered since they have all but forgotten their true names. Zero-Four trained with the keyblade at a very young age and has learned special techniques as well as mastering the dual arrow-guns as a separate weapon specialization during his time in the program.

 

A rather unique individual according to Master Yen Sid for being "As close as anyone can get to being Weaponized Light," his one sided sunglasses that covered only his right eye served a very special purpose for this reason. Should the magic lens be destroyed and his emotions get out of control, Four's heart will self destruct in a spectacular explosion of light and in the process wipe out any darkness in a very wide area. Four was a natural expert gummi pilot and took up skills on being a dancer/arcobat as well as a great chef. There was a reason for this; despite all the magic at his disposal, Master Yen Sid couldn't conjure up nor cook a decent tasting meal. This became a survival skill during Four's time in the program (Recent intelligence has confirmed that at the time of 3D, Master Yen Sid has improved drastically...)

 

Being a Nocturnal Guardian, Zero-Four defends the princess from evenings through the night, usually while she is sleeping. While Sora and the others do their activities during the day and evening, he is responsible for her protection and well-being during the darker hours. He was 15 during the events of BBS, where he was rapidly deployed to Radiant Garden on orders to evacuate Kairi and anyone else related to her as the world fell into darkness. Before being able to grab her hand, Aqua's magic that she had casted on Kairi's charm activated, sending the young princess towards Destiny Islands. He did the next best thing and evacuated Kairi's grandmother on his gummi ship. Barely escaping the world intact, Zero-Four was able to track Kairi in the lanes-between and managed to intercept the sleeping princess by shooting himself out of his ship (via railgun), cradling her in his arms as she entered the new world of Destiny Islands and Twilight Town. Taking the brunt of the impact as they hit the water, Zero-Four made sure Kairi wouldn't drown as he got her to the shores of Destiny Islands. While she was still asleep from the spell by Aqua, he was able to establish a new residence for her thanks to Yen Sid informing the local mayor of her arrival and moved both Kairi and her grandmother in. Weeks passed as he worked with the mayor and Kairi's grandmother on establishing a new life and alibi on the new world, as well as watching over the young Kairi to see if she was reintegrating well in the new world. With his task completed, Master Yen Sid gave him orders to 'go dormant' for 9 years. Confused and unsure whether to follow those new orders or to continue on his standing orders, after being reassured that the world was a safe haven he reluctantly entered a special pod within his gummi ship that was able to slow time to a crawl by casting Stopga repeatedly. What felt like a three hour nap for him was 9 years in the outside world as he exited the pod, just in time to witness the now 14 year old Kairi collaborating with her new friends on the idea of building a raft, whom he quickly identified as Sora and Riku. Since no new orders were given, Zero-Four decided to resume his standing orders and duties of protection.

 

Months passed and all was well until the heartless decided to attack Destiny Island by force that faithful night. He fought valiantly but one heartless (a shadow, go figure...) slipped by and harmed Kairi, (she picked it up and exclaimed of how cute it was, and before he could scream to drop it, the shadow scratched her) releasing her heart. Capturing the princess' heart to restore her would have been straightforward had it not decided to go freestyling and fly into Sora. Witnessing this, Zero-Four decided that Sora would be a suitable carrier until things became safer.

 

Upon realizing that Destiny Islands would be destroyed, Zero-Four gently cradled Kairi's empty body and evacuated on the Gummi Ship. He landed in Disney Castle; the contingency plan in case it ever got THAT bad and a princess' heart was lost. As he tried to get her body into safe hands with King Mickey and the Royal Knights, Queen Minnie informed him that the king had disappeared. He decided to leave her body at the castle knowing that the world was a safe haven against the darkness and pursue Sora in order to get her heart and restore her. Before leaving, he informed the Queen that two boys named Sora and Riku are the only ones allowed to know she was there and to immediately let them take her into their care should any one of them appear. After leaving, Riku popped up (via maleficent) and took Kairi into his own hands.

 

During the events of Chain of Memories, Zero-Four went back to what he normally did, but worried about Kairi who was always at the beach, waiting for Sora to return with Riku. As she slowly went into despair and sadness with each passing day, it became harder for him to stay in the shadows and watch from a distance until one day he decided to intervene. Breaking the "Stay hidden" part of the oath to uphold "The princess comes first" line, Zero-Four made small talk with Kairi in efforts to turn the frown upside-down. They [unsurprisingly] became fast friends.

 

During their introduction, Kairi introduced herself and the Guardian decided to sneak in a name guessing game to give him an actual name. She joked about the idea of calling him "Waffles" at the time due to being hungry and he rolled along with the idea, bringing a smile on her face and putting her in a happy mood. After calming down and being a little more serious, she took a good look at his face and said that he looked like a 'Cody' to her, and the name stuck ever since. Since Zero-Four is now discovered, he decided to tell the young princess about the Nocturnal Guardians, what they do, the customary bestowing of a name by the princess, and what little he could about himself. She was creeped out at first, but as time went on became somewhat thankful for his unseen work. Normally he keeps his distance with Kairi at night thinking that Sora would be with her, giving them precious time alone with each other. As Namine worked her magic that made them forget about Sora, Kairi eventually would visit and wake him up every afternoon after school under a palm tree near the coast knowing full well that he wasn't supposed to be awake yet. Disregarding the fact that the princess was taking away 3 hours of the Guardian's normal sleepy time, Zero-Four nonetheless would talk and accompany her until nightfall and bedtime.  Afterwards, he would start his routine night patrols and duties of protection.

 

 

As the days progressed, Zero-Four slowly warmed up to Kairi, becoming less professional and showing a slightly softer and human side as she started to question his rather emotionless attitude, but managed to stay composed for a time. Reminded of the oath as well as reminding her that her first kiss should be reserved for her 'prince' who is out there somewhere, Zero-Four barely managed to keep his emotions in check as he politely refused her flirty advances. However on one fateful stormy night, he decided to comfort her after trying unsuccessfully to get her grandmother to do the same. Somewhat annoyed and nervous, Four found the princess hiding under the covers of her bed from the lightning and thunder outside. As she held him in her arms out of fear, a new emotion was felt by him, one that he quickly tried to suppressed but she objected to letting him do so (the glow of his eye and the gradual fading gave it away). After a tender exchange of words and reasoning, Kairi finally 'broke' him and was able to show him the other side of the heart with the emotions of happiness, sanctuary and love that was all but neglected and forgotten during Four's childhood training to become a Guardian.

 

Months later when Kairi's birthday came around, Zero-Four got her the pink dress that she always wanted along with shoes and a matching satchel for her new outfit. When she asked if it would be ok to disclose his existence to her friends when they return, Four requested her to keep a low profile on his existence, so that's why there was no mentioning of him during KH2.

 

In KH2, remember that all of the events surrounding Kairi occurred during the day-time, when he's asleep. Four didn't appear when she was in the dungeon of The Castle That Never Was because she wasn't feeling distressed; she had managed to suppress the emotion and was intent on fight her way out. However, his charm did activate and was close to teleporting when she along with Namine was intercepted by Saix  Just before fully teleporting, Riku saved her just in time and the charm deactivated. As Sora and Riku proceeded to 'unlock' the skulls of all who were involved, Zero-Four searched frantically all over Twilight Town to try and locate her.

 

So yeah, if it ain't obvious my OC is themed after the shield and night. The Keyblade name reflects that fact. Now once you fully develop your OC's backstory, then thinking of a proper name for your keyblades should be easy enough
