I managed to acquire a copy of Pokémon X today, and my original plan has been for my first four team members to consist of a Froakie, a Bulbasaur, the event Torchic and a Pidgey. However, due to the fact that I have heard from more than one person that the game is far too easy to complete, would it be better to choose a more original team; perhaps with only one of those three starters, and the rest of my main team not including the free Lucario? I would appreciate some recommendations.

When given the choice of which fossil to pick, I recomend you choose the Jaw Fossil, revive it, and use Tyrunt on your team.

Get whatever team you want.  If you like your team then you can make it work for you.
