Is it possible?  If so how on a mac and will the HDPVRs come out with it?

No, it won't. The HDPVR will only record up to 1080i (interlaced). Although I don't see why you would even want to do this, as you will NOT get any better quality, you just render in 2560x1440 in your editing program. No 1440p quality capture cards exist yet to my knowledge.

If the program supports anything higher, you can size the video to 1440p. But I highly recommend just producing videos in 1080p. Nobody really watches videos in that high of quality yet, anyway.
