About BSI: Burial at Sea E1's ending...(SPOILERS)

Posted

Before I start, here's a warning:

MASSIVE SPOILERS INBOUND.

So, I beat Burial at Sea last night. And the more I think about the ending, the more confused I get. Some aspects of it just don't make sense.

  • Why does Elizabeth lead "Booker" through Rapture to get to Sally, if all she ever wanted to do in the first place was have him killed? Why didn't she just kill him in the first place?
  • Why does Elizabeth even want to kill this version of Comstock? Her point of wiping out all Comstocks was to make sure that what happened in Infinite wouldn't ever happen. Now I understand that the actions at the end of Infinite didn't apply to this "Comstock"/Booker, since he went into a completely different reality or whatever. But this version of Comstock wasn't planning on ever doing anything bad, and regretted his actions. So was she only there for revenge? If so, this Elizabeth (who is the same person as the one we grew to know and love throughout Infinite) is pretty unlike the Elizabeth we knew. The original Elizabeth only wanted revenge against the man who hurt her specifically. And she wanted to make sure that it never happened again, and for good reason. But what does she accomplish in this ending? As far as I can tell, it's simply revenge against someone who already felt sorrow for his actions and didn't want to ever be like that again. Which seems pretty weird to me.
  • How was she there when he was trying to take Anna from Booker in the flashback?
  • What was the significance of it being the night before the fall of Rapture? Granted, this one might be answered in Episode Two. But it really didn't add anything to the story.
  • Why was Sally so afraid of Booker? Was that just a side-effect of her being a little sister? And was that little doll head supposed to represent Anna?

What do you guys think?
