Chapter 1

" You can't expect me to believe to this."

" You can believe whatever the Hell you want, Mr. Bennet: I know the truth, whether you can see it or not."

                                                                     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
These two sentences....
So simple, so nonchalant....
So very important to a six~year ordeal brought about by so simple a wish....
The moon was full, a beautiful globe of pure blue~white, hung delicately in the December sky like the largest Christmas ball ever seen by mere mortals.
Jeez, listen to me...
I sound like I swallowed a book of Shakespeare sonnets.
Anyways... the moon....
I loved looking at it, so big and full, the skull~like face you could just see by squinting your eyes almost appearing to smile at me, as if sharing some hidden joke we were both in on.
My grandfather once told me that I was a "Moongazer", a perpetual " watcher of the out~lying orb"...
Whatever THAT meant...
He did always tell me one thing, as my 18th birthday came and went;
" Any wish made on a full moon three fifths from a 19th year brings a twisted result, counter~acting off a 18th year wish."
Foolishly, I ignored this semi~cyptic warning, unsure of its meaning anyways.
My friend Jack White dared me to make a wish on my 18th " year", and I made a silly wish about telekenisis, based on the 2002 tv version of Carrie we'd just watched on a late~night showing.
Can we say " Aw Hell naw" moment?
Anyways... back to my " Moongazing ", the " Largest Christmas ball ever seen by mere mortals", I believe.
Without a single thought, at 11:59 59 P.M., E.S.T, December 14th, I pictured the winged teens from the book I was currently reading, as well as the 2013 version of Carrie.
At 12:00 0:00 A.M, E.S.T, December 15th....
My 19th birthday....
Everything changed.
