when you want to knock on Death's door

[a 1x1 with Josh wilson]

Characters:

Name: Lily Collins

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Weapon or Meister: Meister

Appearance: She is 5'6, with slightly wavy blonde hair that is usually pulled back into a ponytail. She wears brightly colored sneakers, a pair of black leggings and a pink sweater.

Bio: Lily's future was decided before she was even born. Her mother and father were both meisters, and of course, their daughter was expected to follow in their footsteps. Lily spent her life at the DWMA, and that wasn't likely to change anytime soon. Thankfully, she enjoyed being a meister. But after years of work, Lily still hadn't made a Death Scythe, and pressure from her parents was increasing.

Name: Jonathan Lindbloom

Age: 16

Gender: male

Category: Weapon

Appearance: white, with long, unkempt, blonde hair, with a grey hat on top (like souls). He wears smiley face t-shirt, and bleached blue jeans. He also wears leather gloves.

Bio: has never really had a partner. Never felt that sympathetic link between the wielders yet. Maybe it was his lazy work ethic, or devil am care attitude, but his love for battle always made him keep trying.

It was a new day and a new school year. Lily's previous weapon has transferred out of the school, claiming that they were too afraid to go into battle anymore. Considering they'd only had a few fights that weren't training battles, Lily was kind of relieved they'd left. She smoothed out her hair and entered her first class. It was supposed to be the day they selected their new weapons, but all of Lily's friends already had partners. It was definitely going to be an awkward day.

"Annother day, another meister..." Jonathan was tired of always not having a partner. He wasant the most appealing partner to ever be with, but whatever. He went inside the school to see the new person he would get today. Probably should not get his hopes up.

Lily took a seat next to a few of her friends. They prattled on about something or other, but Lily was sure it didn't concern her. Her friends were sweet, but they all had partners, and they didn't even need to be at school that day. They were just there to be Lily's "moral support". This all rode on the assumption that she'd be able to find a partner. And as sociable as Lily could be, she highly doubted she'd find anyone. She just never quite fit right with anyone, which was probably why she still hadn't created a Death Scythe.

Jonathan looked at the girl who was receiving moral support. As pathetic as that was, he had a feeling the would end up together. He was 5 minutes late to class again, but no one cared at this point. He slept through most of class as well. After 'class' was over he went to check the board to see the new partner he would recive.

Lily's cluster of friends followed her to the partner assignment board. Most weapons and meisters met long before it was necessary for them to have a partner. It was only the truly desperate that needed the school to find them a partner. She dreaded reading the name--what if it was some drug addict? A psycho? She stepped forward to read the board uncertainly. It took her a moment to scan the list, but finally she found her name. Lily Collins - Jonathan Lindbloom. Who the hell was that?

Jonathan didn't even need to guess. "I guess your my wielder, huh?" He said to Lily.

(btw are you going to reply to the other rp?)

Lily was startled to her a voice beside her. Her friends had backed off, their job of moral support complete. She could still feel them watching, though--nosy as ever, even if they were trying to be nice. "Um, are you Jonathan?" He didn't look like a drug addict or psychopath. That was at least a promising sign. "Oh, my name is Lily. But, uh, I guess you already read that."

"Yeah" she looked okay, for a meister. "So, you wanna do some training, or go straight for it?"

  • Author

Training. Right. "Oh, uh, maybe it'd be best if we just went at it. We can check the assignment board for something easy." Simplicity would be essential. They couldn't take on a hard case, because if it turned out they absolutely could not work together, they'd be in some real trouble. She wasn't going to die for pride's sake. Feeling her friends watching her closely, Lily asked, "So what kind of weapon are you?"

"Katana." He said, with disinterest. "Kind of disappointing, if you ask me. Too goddam typical." He shrugged. "But enough of that. Let's get going." He walked away and didn't wait for her to catch up, snatching a random mission off the wall.

"Well jeez, at least slow down." Lily muttered, jogging to catch up. She'd almost forgotten about her "supportive" group of friends, who were giggling behind her, but thankfully not following. They couldn't just go on any random mission. If they weren't careful, they'd get killed! And Lily was sure that even when she was dead her parents would find a way to yell at her for failing. "Hold on a second, Jonathan! We're going to get killed! Let me see the mission."

"Here." He tossed the letter to her. "Simple battle royale, small monsters, or whatever the're called. " he smiled "no need to worry, right?"

There was going to be a giant need to worry if Jonathan didn't start communicating with her. "Hold up!" Lily shouted to get his attention. They couldn't just go off on a mission if they had barely even spoken! What if they were an incompatible team? "Okay, listen up. You're going to have to start talking to me if you expect us to make it out of this, or any other mission, alive. We--we're supposed to be working as a team, remember?"

"Right..." He said, slowing down. " So, what's your plan? Other than kill them, I guess." Jonathan always belived talk was cheap, when it came to killing.

"Plan? We can't make a plan if we haven't scoped out the area." Lily wanted to be thorough. Her first kill was not going to be half-assed. It was going to be fast and efficient, that way there was nothing her parents could complain about. She was relieved to see that Jonathan had slowed down and was actually listening to her. Lily had been afraid she might be ignored, and that would screw up their chances as a team for sure. "Let's go check out the setting while it's daylight. We'll check back for a kill at nighttime."

"That's not half bad..." Jonathan thought. "I could use something to eat-" he felt his pockets. "Empty... You got any money?"

  • Author

Lily didn't get an allowance unless she completed a mission in a way that satisfied her parents, so she was just as broke as Jonathan. But she wasn't going to share that information. "The only stuff around here is fast food, and I was thinking we should probably get something tastier if we're going to be fighting tonight. There's a kitchen at my place and I can make some pretty mean peanut butter and jelly sandwiches."

"It's better than nothing, I guess." He liked pb&j, never had it in a while though, pity. He walked out of the school, yawned, and stretched his arms" wich way?"

Lily tried not to think about how far they had to walk. Not only did they have to get down the humongous staircase that led up to the DWMA, they still had to walk across campus to reach the little apartment her parents rented for her in Death City. "It's pretty much a straight shot. Down the stairs and then we walk right until we hit my apartment complex."

"Alright then." He walked down the stairs. It wasant much of a hassle for him, but he could see it was for Lily "So," he said, trying to insinuate small talk "what's your family like?

  • Author

Lily felt herself blush. Of all the subjects he could have brought up, why that one? But she didn't want to lie to her new partner. "They're...different. Really pushy. They want me to be just like them--better than them." She shook her head. Lily didn't want to think about them more than was necessary. "Anyway, how is your family? Better than mine, I assume."

"You won." Jonathan said, with displeasure. "The're dead. Died doin what they love." He looked at her "Ok, new subject, what's your house like?"

  • Author

Lily shouldn't have returned the question. Hadn't she learned anything about her own experience with parents? Not asking was usually the best course of action. "Sorry." It wasn't enough, but she wasn't quite sure what else to say. "Well, um, anyway, it's not really a house. Just a little apartment. My parents wanted me living closer to home rather than on the DWMA campus."

"Oh mine is not either... Thier will left me with the house, so..." He thought about the life in the house "It's boring, and I used the money for the house bills that was left in the bills, so I have a job, if this dosent work out..."
