Don't you just hate it when your parents don't support ANYTHING you do. Well unless of course it helps out with paying for college or such.

I mean, seriously, my parents don't give a rat arse about my love for art. I mean they rather me be in choir in high school just because if I make All State, it may get me a scholarship. -_-" it pisses me off because when I had another choir competition last year, it was on the same day as this meeting for some program for highschool I'm in and they seriously just wanted me not to go to the competition saying highschool was more important. And when I told them that the competition was important to me at that moment they were all like "Well it's not gonna get you a scholarship."

I got so mad.

It's so effing frustrating, because they never support me for things I actually enjoy, like art or choir.

It seems your parents don't care about anything else but succession in school. They should realize that they need to support you in the things you really like to do as well. That does sound extremely irritating. :c

I know how it is, I like to do a lot of things, but I know that the only thing I can't count on is with their support, I actually think that parents don't care at all for what we like to do they think that taking care of education is the best thing they can do. That means, nothing is more important than highschool.

Yeah and like I've told them "Why can't you support me in other things besides school?" but they either yell at me or ignore me -_-"

Sometimes I just wanna smack them in the face.

I know they want me to go to college and such but they don't understand that I don't just want to study, I want to do something i enjoy. Which is why i plan to get a minor in either art or music. They'll disapprove but whatever

Even if you aren't in serious competitions, there are other ways to gain scholarships... Don't let them stress you out, just keep trying to do what feels right for you and what you love. Maybe even talk to them more and they may listen sometime? It took me a while to get through to my parents and tell them things that I was interested in and yeah they may have been irritated but just keep trying and just sound mature and confident when you try to tell them. If you don't like competitions then don't do them...do something you enjoy and how you want to, scholarships and succession will come your way eventually.
