False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

Ryonne was thrown backwards by the move. He crashed to the ground, and grunted. Throbbing pain coursed through him, and Ryonne could barely move. "Good shot." He whispered. Ryonne had never been very good at taking hits, he tried to avoid contact if at all possible. He knew there was no way he could get back up and fight anymore... but there had to be something that he could do to incapacitate Horizon as well. He could still feel his sword in hand. One last strong, sudden, and quick strike would have the effect he needed. He tried to remember a strike that fit the criteria and situation... anything in his repertoire... yes, that would work. The swordsman struck out from the ground at Horizon's knee's, using momentum to swing himself up to get a good shot at the Enforcer's head, which he bludgeoned with his hilt. Ryonne then began to sense unconsciousness coming his way. 'Please, let it have been enough.' He thought, before passing out.

I make it to the end of the Corridor with Ren in tow, arriving in a plaza of sorts in Radiant Garden.

I place him down so he can sit back against a wall, and can tell he's not in the best of spirits.

"You're not a hindrance Ren," I tell him, when I realize he's on the verge of tears. I try to think of something inspirational to say, or at least something to improve his mood, but I've never been good at things like that. Lost for words, I place my hand atop his head and mess up his hair in an effort to lighten the mood. "I'll be back, you just wait here and regain your strength."

With that, I turn around and open another Corridor of Darkness. I will not abandon Ryonne- he's our comrade...a friend.

I'm about to walk through it, but stop right before entering the portal, and turn back to face Ren. "...You did great Ren- you faced a real Enforcer and came out alive...in time we'll all become stronger through experience." I smile at him, then hurry down the corridor- closing it behind me.

Ren coughed a bit. He looked around. It looked safe...

He felt drowsy. He couldn't protect anyone. Not even her. He needed more darkness. More strength. To make the change. To set the power struggle. He needed-

Sleep took him.

Horizon fell to the ground. His vision was hazy and seemed tinted red from blood. He coughed, his tongue feeling the distinctive metallic taste of blood. You two had a damn good shot. Horizon thought, his thoughts merely swimming in his head before disappearing completely, I can settle for a tie.

Horizon, having trouble keeping himself up with his arms, collapsed completely. It wasn't long before he fainted.

Exiting at the other end of the Corridor of Darkness, I find myself back at the mansion in Garland Hub.

I run over to the front doors and throw them open- sighing in relief.

Both Ryonne and the Enforcer, who stated his name was Horizon before their fight began if I remember correctly, are lying unconscious before the mansion. Thank goodness.

Rushing to Ryonne, I summon my Keyblade and cast Cure; propping him up against the mansion in a sitting position.

"I'll be right back," I tell him, just in case he can actually still hear me.

I turn my attention now to Horizon, the Enforcer who's defenseless before me in his current state.

Re-summoning my Keyblade, as I had it disappear so I could better move Ryonne, I walk up to the fallen warrior...and cast Cure.

Is he really the enemy? No, I'm not fighting people- I'm fighting the institution people like him work for; I've no qualms towards any particular Enforcer.

It takes some effort to get him over to the mansion so I can sit him up against it. I'm glad I didn't have to fight him today; any day I don't have to resort to violence is an ideal one.

With Horizon taken care of, I bring Ryonne inside with me and leave him in the lobby. I go round up Dalian, A.J., Severa, Nova, and the new girl who was in my room, bringing them all back down to the lobby with me after they've collected their things.

As we reach the lobby once again, I notice Daniel's outside and signal for him to come in- making sure he doesn't disrupt Horizon.

With all of us together, I open another Corridor of Darkness, pick Ryonne up as best I can, and follow after the others.

(Optional Soundtrack)

Arriving in the square at Radiant Garden yet again, I'm glad to see Ren still here- simply sleeping. I position Ryonne against the wall to the left of Ren, then sit up against the wall myself.

"Phew...well, guess we can't go back there anymore," I say in what I hope was a pleasant tone, looking up at the others who stand before me.

((If you are still here Neko-Chan, rikunobodyxiii, ShadowxLight13, and Fullmetal-Keyblade-Wielder: please do feel free to join the conversation, we don't bite! ^^ ...as far as I know o.o))

((Ok, thanks))

Nova was worried, knowing all the Enforcers had done to his town had been an easy job he didn't want to imagine what they could do to three rebels.

"Maybe we should go to a safer place. It may only be so long until they find us." he doubtably stated, being the first thing that popped into his head.

  • Author

I look around, considering Nova's words- Radiant Garden IS the city of light, so maybe it isn't the best place for us to be visiting at this point in time.

We could try to liberate it, but odds are at our current strength none of us could handle all the Enforcers this early on in our campaign.

"Alright, which world should we head to first? Or should we all split up and liberate different worlds individually or in teams?" I ask the group, hoping everyone will give an opinion so no one feels left out.

Dalian broke her silence.

"I think...we should stay together." she said, looking at Light.

(SHORT POST)

  • Author

Dalian speaks up, suggesting something I can easily get behind.

"I think that would be best," I say to her, turning to the others, "That's two votes for our staying together."

((short posts are fine xD))

"OK, as long as we are safe I don't want to risk anything." Nova agreed. "There is strength in numbers."

"Agh..." Said Ren, as he awoke. "What are we talking about?" He was not fully rested, but it would have to do.

"We were discussing if we should stay here or leave." Nova explained "We were also wondering if we should split up and stay together, but it looks like we are probably going to stay like this."

Ren analyzed his scars. "...For the best..." He muttered. He stood up. "I think we should liberate the small ones first. As much as taking down a big one will help our image, if we could barely kill Horizon, we don't stand a chance..."

  • Author

Kill Horizon? These words don't sit right with me- I don't plan on killing anyone, but this is no time to argue.

"Alright, so that's four of us for our staying together, and I agree with Ren's saying we should tackle the worlds with little Enforcer rule first." I try to think of which worlds are less fortified by the Enforcers. "...let's see, there's...Deep Jungle, that's the smallest Enforcer operation I'm aware of as that world doesn't really have any form of known government. The Enforcers spend more time on world's with castles and leaders, like Enchanted Dominion, Disney Castle, Port Royal, so that's my suggestion- unless anyone else has any specific place they'd rather visit?" I look at each and every one of them carefully, wanting to make sure whatever choice we make, we all- or at least the majority of us, agree on it."

Ren smiled at the sound of Port Royale. "Pirate-" he quickly retracted his glee, "I mean, if we go to Royal, we could cut off thier trade routes... But then they could vilify us more..." He got depressed. "I guess we can't go..."

  • Author

I notice how Ren lights up at the mention of Port Royal; I'm glad to see he's out of his slump.

"If you'd rather go to Port Royal that can easily be arranged- it would be far more lively than Deep Jungle, but a bigger hit to the Enforcer's cause," I say, not just to him but the entire group.

Edited by LightChaser

"REAL- I mean, really?" Ren hated his inner child. He really did.

  • Author

"Sure!" I tell him, happy that our group will finally be making a difference, "Since no one else is objecting to it, I don't see why not."

Walking away from the group, I extend my hand out and open a Corridor of Darkness, then turn back to face Ren and the others.

"Also, since you're so passionate about it- I suggest Ren acts as the group's primary leader on this mission," I tell them, stepping to the side so the others can go through the portal, "after you."

Ren struggled to hold his childish nature. "Okay. Let's move." He put his hood over his head to hide his smile, and walked into the portal.

  • Author

I follow Ren's lead, but not before motioning for the others to come along. I leave the portal open, that way they can follow us at their own leisure- plus most Enforcers are too afraid to step through the dark corridors, as they tend to erode away at those who actually use them, so I doubt there will be any harm in leaving the corridor open.

He couldn't hold it in. "Beautiful!" Screamed Ren, arms outstretched. He loved it all. The trees. The sea. The boats. He held Lights hand. "It's marvelous, is it not!?" His hood fell down to reveal his face in a happy, child like expression that he had not shown anyone.

"Woah! This place is real cool!" Nova was excited. He always dreamed of visiting all the worlds, maybe he could on this journey. "Well, that's one off the list." he thought to himself.

Seeing Ren act like this- how happy he is, I can't help but smile. It's reassuring to know we can still take joy in things, no matter what they are, despite the current circumstances.

"Quite marvelous," I tell him, looking around at our surroundings. It's so dark here- odds are the Enforcers will be spread out all over this world. If I remember correctly, the sky here always remains dark, just like Garland Hub- the Enforcers must hate that.

I would explore farther, but Ren's taken hold of my hand- I'll just stay put for now and enjoy the brief respite while it lasts.

When Nova arrives, I turn back to face him. "Welcome to Port Royal!" I cheerfully exclaim.
