False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

Severa held the sword above her head, supporting it with her hand. The attack nearly broke her, but she managed to stay standing. She lowered her sword to begin her own counterattack, when the second blitz started. Caught off guard, she was almost impacted, but managed to spawn a weak dark shield. Finally, the third attack broke through her guard, and struck her. On the ground, the following shockwave hit her. Severa struggled to her feet. 'How'd Ryonne manage even a draw with this guy?' She thought to herself. But if she showed even a little bit of submission, she knew Horizon would take advantage of that, and just about kill her. So she stood up straight, and spat at the ground. Blood mixed with saliva on the ground. "That all ya got tough guy?" Severa called out to Horizon from across the street. Gripping her sword, she dashed forward, stopping right next to him, close enough to kiss the Enforcer. She whispered in his ear. "Die." Her tone was cold, and full of hatred. She stabbed her sword towards his gut. Overflowing with the memory of her destroyed home world, darkness spread over her sword.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lyon easily parried the blades hurtling towards her face. She started to smile at the weakness of the attack, when the chains sprung from the ground, and bound her. She could almost feel the darkness creeping into her heart. Gasping for air, she made a split-second decision. She'd have to fully unveil her abilities. Glancing at Ren, she spoke. "I didn't want to do this, but you've left me no choice." Lyon closed her eyes in concentration. She could feel light pulsing through her veins. A bright flash of light, and Lyon was standing in the room, the chains dissolving on the floor, giving off what felt like as much light and heat as the sun. She stood in full golden keyblade armor, her skin gleaming, and her keyblade shining. "Now you're in trouble." Lyon said, her eyes full of ferocity. Darkness was evil. This boy was evil. She was to eradicate evil. She would eradicate this boy. Lyon sprinted forward, slicing horizontally, vertically, diagonally, any way she could. At some point her keyblade ignited with flames. Her off-hand was gleaming with light. At the end of her flurry of slices, Lyon opened her palm, and a strong pulse of light emanated from her open hand.
Horizon looked at her. The darkest of energies flowed from her blade, flowing from there and into Horizon. The Enforcer looked at her, and shook his head, as the darkness washed over him. "Darkness and Light exist together. You can swallow the Light and banish the Darkness, but Light will corrode into Darkness, just as those in the Darkness will always seek the Light." Horizon said, looking at Severa with the most bored expression, "You have a painful past, but refuse to see Light."
Horizon was slowly dying. The Darkness was draining his life force away.
"You told me to do die." Horizon finally said, "And sadly, that hasn't happened." Horizon glanced at her, and put his palm to Severa's forehead. He forced out a pulse of Light, hoping to be enough to banish the darkness she had created.
He drew his ethereal blades, and proceeded to block most of the attacks, until the fire came in the blades, and he was disrupted. The flurry was strong. He flew back, and slammed hard. "More…" he growled "Need more power … TO KILL YOU!" He roared. The port shook, and his power increased, but his body became corrupted, as a dark substance engulfed his arm. He roared a second time, and two clones appeared. The afterimages rushed at the armor clad being, as Ren prepared a powerful blast of darkness.
Severa felt the light coursing through her. 'No!' She thought to herself, attempting to fight off the light that was coursing through her. No such luck. The energy flooded through her veins, mingling with her darkness, diluting the solution. Gradually she lost energy, and her grip on her blade slackened, she began to slump forward, not even able to hold herself up anymore. She gasped for air, but no amount of oxygen could help her. Her pleading eyes met Horizon's. They were calm, as if she didn't just almost kill him. "You can't stop the rising tide. No amount of light can stop the hatred that you all have bred through your cruel acts of tyranny. And make no mistake, I will lead that wave, if it's the last thing I ever do." Severa said, before finally collapsing into Horizon's arms, unconscious.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lyon sliced through one of the afterimages, but the other flanked, and struck her side. Lyon quickly turned and slashed through the other illusion, but the damage had already been done. The attack, being ghostly in origin, had went through her armor and produced a large gash on her side. Lyon looked at the corrupted boy. She considered telling him the truth to calm him for a moment, but stopped herself. That would need to stay a secret. The Enforcer sprinted forward, shooting off a few balls of light towards Ren in hopes of stopping whatever attack he was charging up for.

"DIEDIEDIEDIEDIE!" He screamed, releasing the blast of light, decimating the balls of light. He pulled more afterimages to flank, and dashed behind them.

Nova heard lots of noise coming from the opposite side of the tavern "What's going on?" He rushed to where he heard the noise. "Oh my goodness, are you okay?" Nova was alarmed when he saw Ren being assaulted.

Horizon looked down at Severa. "Hm." He hummed, flipping her over his shoulder. Already his strength was returning. That was the thing about darkness. It's hard to destroy someone's will. You can beat them down with Darkness, but unless you can break their will, you cannot defeat them. And Horizon's will was unshaken.

"Found you." Harumi muttered, looking at Horizon.

"Who are you?" Horizon replied, giving a bored glance at the girl. Her appearance struck a familiar cord, but he couldn't place it.

"Your demise." Harumi said, unleashing her Keyblade.

The girl leaves, but in her place comes another Enforcer. He has no evidence of being a higher-up, but it'd be rude of me to underestimate him.

I'm about to say something to him when I suddenly sense the others' presences. Ren's darkness is almost overpowering, where as Severa and Ryonne's have disappeared completely. With Ren near Ryonne, I figure it best to go to Severa.

"If you wanna fight, then follow me!" I call out to the Enforcer, rushing to where I sensed Severa.

Arriving on the scene, I see Severa in the hands of the Enforcer I'd helped some time ago: Horizon. Across from him is Harumi, who has drawn her weapon. Afraid she might not be enough, I step in between the two.

"Harumi! I know you're tough, but this guy is insanely strong- you should go and help Ren and Ryonne!" I tell her over my shoulder, then turn my attention to the man before me, "I'll be your opponent Horizon, that is if you're beyond a civil conversation. If we're too close-minded to realize our opponent's motivations and understand that they're fighting for their own reasons, then battles like these are the result of our misunderstanding one another- either that or the parties involved would rather fight than talk I suppose."

Pfft, I suck at speeches. Still, if I can just talk to these Enforcers and understand why they fight, and try to get my own reasons across to them, it'd be far better than just blindly fighting them.

Thinking a little more, I choose my next words carefully. "...Neither light nor darkness is completely good or completely evil- it's up to those who use them to decide what they represent."

I'll fight Horizon if I have to, I'm not trying to weasel my way out of a fight, I just want the two of us to fight without any misunderstandings about the other's position.

((Silver I figured you wouldn't wanna just have your two characters fight each other, lemme know if ya want me to back off, and Josh your Enforcer can follow of course and join this situation xD))

Edited by LightChaser

Horizon glanced at this new girl. Beyond Civil Conversation? Horizon's glance became hateful, having chord been struck that others knew well to never even approach. Horizon clutched his blade a little tighter. No one ever dared to say that. He as a civil man; someone who upheld honor often when others didn't. Of course, though, Horizon did not let that get the best of him.

"So you want to talk, then." Horizon said, setting Severa on the ground, "What do you want to talk about first? My goals, or Harumi, Third Seat of my own Division, one of the most powerful Guard Squads in the Enforcer armada?" Horizon said, glancing at Harumi. At first, he barely recognized the girl. It wasn't until she unleashed her unique Keyblade that Horizon Fallo remembered.

Kirito stood in awe, keyblade still at the reader "You are Miss Harumi?" He said to the now traitor. "T-that's absurd, unheard of! Do they have some sort of-of mind control?!"! He could not believe what was happening.

Harumi's with them- or was? I glance back at her, but then look back to Horizon. Whatever her story is, she's here now; that's good enough for me.

"We all have pasts that led us to this point, what's important is our actions in the here and now," I respond, taking note of the ferocity in Horizon's eyes...not good, I didn't want to antagonize him, "Do you really believe that darkness is all bad, that it has to be eradicated completely? Do you just enjoy fighting? Or is the reason you raise your blade against us too personal to share, if so I won't pry." I also look to the Enforcer that confronted me earlier, in case he'd care to give his two cents.

Odds are we're gonna fight no matter what, him and possibly the new guy too- the less misgivings I have about someone the more able I'll be to accept fighting them.

Ren heard Horizons comment, and, in his blind dark rage, smashed into Harumi. "YOUR KIND TOOK HIM…TOOK THEM ALL!" He screamed "DIE!"

  • Author

Despite my wanting to continue the conversation, I hear someone shouting and crashing into Harumi.

Turning around, it's none other than Ren...overwhelmed by the darkness. This can't deter me, I summon my Keyblade and perform a Sliding Dash to knock Ren away from Harumi. Upon completing the move, I'm surprised for only a second before my full attention is back on the situation at hand.

With two Enforcers and Ren rearing to fight, along with protecting Harumi and trying to get Severa back, this entire situation just keeps going from bad to worse.

Edited by LightChaser

"YOU…STAND IN MY WAY!" Ren said in dark rage. His clouded mind now showed light as only an enemy. "DIE! ANYONE WHO STANDS IN MY WAY IS AN ENEMY!"

  • Author

Ren's hateful gaze now falls on me. At least I won't have to worry about protecting Harumi from him, and hopefully Horizon and his companions will be honorable enough to stay out of this for the time being.

"Ren...fighting the darkness or the light will only work against you in the long run, and lead to your being consumed..."

I doubt he can hear me, so I take a defensive stance. "Come then, I'm your opponent."

Ren's mind battled with the darkness. He screamed, and convulsed, the aura becoming more unstable. He rushed at light, ethereal blades at the ready. "They took them… away from us…" he struggled to say through the darkness. "And…you …YOU SIDE BY THEM! I'm…sorry…can't…control…DIE!"

  • Author

I sidestep Ren's attack and elbow his arm in an attempt to make him drop one of his weapons.

"I don't side with the Enforcers, but I WILL side with anyone who wishes to restore the worlds to their former glory, and remove the light's tyranny!" I tell him, even if he can't hear me.

It sounded as if his voice was wavering, so I jump back away from him to wait and see if he can compose himself. I'd rather not fight any of my comrades, my friends, if it can be avoided.

Ren collapsed on the ground. Screaming, the darkness receded "Won't…let…it…hurt…you!"

Horizon watched all of this.

"Annoying." He muttered, looking away from Ren's screams of agony, "And disgusting. This is what happens when you let darkness reign supreme. Nothing good becomes of it." Horizon said, twirling for a moment, "You have all become an eyesore. Finish your tirade so I may put an end to this."

"No!" Harumi yelled, blocking Horizon from getting too close to her allies, "Just..hang on! You guys take care of Ren!" Harumi said, turning back to Horizon, "I'll..deal with him."

Horizon's face darkened, "I have no qualms in ending your life."

  • Author

Thankfully, it looks like Ren is standing down. I rush over to him and do my best to pick him up.

"You did good Ren- just try and rest," is all I can muster, dragging him close to where Harumi fell- but now she's getting up! I'd talk to him more, but now's not the best time. He's still struggling somewhat, so I try to think of something quick though, "...light or darkness or both- the decision is yours Ren, but choose it before it chooses you."

With that, I focus again on the Enforcers, hoping Ren won't give me any more trouble.

"Thank you for waiting, you're both quite honorable," I direct to Horizon and his companion, wondering where the girl Ren was fighting could be. I stand alongside Harumi and look to her. "You don't have to do this alone you know."

"Alright then!" Kiritos keyblade at the ready. "Shame though. One-" he pointed to light "that a beautiful girl like you would join such evil forces. Two-" he took off his jacket to reveal his keyblade master armored arm "that I didn't fight alongside Lyon. He looked like a challenge..." He sighed. "Well, HERE I GO!" He revealed his aura. It was a light almost on par with Lyon. "My mom said to hide this power so I could stay in the infantry, but…" he smiled. "If I'm on a case like this, better go all out!"

Harumi growled and pulled out her Katana. Darkness and Light; her dark Katana and her light Keyblade, Oathkeeper. Horizon looked at her, raising his weapon. He twirled it for a moment, before slashing once and charging Light. He would leave Kirito to Harumi.

Horizon immediately appeared before Light, staring her down. His robes settled around him, but swished around when he swept with his blade. A deathly silence fell over him--he was ready to fight and kill.

  • Author

Sure enough, I was right not to underestimate the newcomer. The light he's radiating is far stronger than what I had sensed earlier.

Taking a defensive stance, I try to prepare for whatever attack he has planned. "Thanks for the compliment, and darkness isn't evil- that's just what they drill into people at The Land of Departure," I make sure the grip on my Keyblade is tight, really hoping my training paid off, "I don't fear the light."

Suddenly Horizon is standing before me- I took my eyes off him! Thankfully my Keyblade blocks his first strike, but I stumble back a bit before regaining myself.

Keyblade in hand, I attempt to perform a Quick Blitz and bring my Keyblade down upon him.

Kirito got the hint. "Shame to execute a hero like you…" he teleported to Harumis blind spot, and attacked, goins straight for the chest.
