False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

Horizon brought up his blade, blocking Light's attack. She had a lot of oomph, that was for sure. Though she may appear foolish to the Captain, he couldn't deny she had some power in her attacks. "You would be surprised." Horizon murmured, "For both Darkness and Light can be evil." He spun, adding licks of flame to the end of his blade as he twirled around.

"Light leads way to corruption, and Darkness leads way to order."

Harumi grimaced, using her blade to parry the attack that went for her side. She clenched her teeth, her arm hurting from the way she held her weapon over the side of her body. "Damn..." She muttered, diving down and going for a sweep with her legs.

He parries my attack, then responds with his own- which sends me flying back. I barely land on my feet, struggling not to lose my balance, before taking my stance and taking in his words.

"Exactly, light and darkness can be either or- what they stand for, good or evil, is up to the ones who use it."

Taking a step back, I rush towards him with my Keyblade outstretched, performing a Sliding Dash.

"What's wrong?" He said, elbowing her in the stomach, he would follow with a strike raid/jump-slam combo. "I thought you were stronger…"

Horizon side-stepped Light's attack, blinking a little when he felt a cut slice against his arm. He glanced at the small wound, turning around and glare back at Light. "Even then, your rebellion has committed its own crimes. I do not care what you do individually. You joined this group, and will share in their crimes." Horizon said, setting his blade close to his face.

"Thundaga!" He cried.

Harumi was flung back by the jump slam, falling back to the ground. Her body stung as she clambered back up. "Shut up!" She growled, "I haven't started trying!" She exclaimed, rushing forward. Her speed was on-par with Horizon's appearing before Kirito while bringing her blades forward.

"Good!" He smiled, parrying the hit with the armored arm. "For a treasured hero, I want a better fight!" He then came in, slashing upwards, a beam shooting out. "Sorry I have to play dirty with you, but no rebels deserve respect!"

Thundaga? As soon as it registers, I'm hit by what must be countless volts of electricity- causing me to drop to my knees.

I try to regain control of my body, but that shock paralyzed me...with some effort though I'm able to look up at Horizon and still speak.

"The only 'crimes' we've committed are us trying to liberate the worlds from the Enforcers' control- what gives any of us the right to go to other worlds and conquer them? Because we have the power to do so with Keyblades and the like? The Enforcers should be protecting the worlds, not dictating them!"

Horizon fell silent. This was grating his nerves. Not that Light was winning--but diplomacy was not his strong suit. "Many others fear Darkness. That 'dictation' is to ensure order within a world. I carry out the orders, and occasionally act on my own will. You're fighting fire with fire, here. You kill the people who kill people. While force may work, it will certainly be difficult." Horizon said, sighing. This girl was making him run his mouth.

Harumi yelped, Kirito's upward strike knocking her blades up as the beam charged in. She dived down, ducking beneath the beam. "Do you even know what the Enforcer's have done?!"

"I kill no one- my parents taught me the clichés that an eye for an eye makes the world blind and violence begets violence, among other things. I have no right to end anyone's life, everyone deserves to live- but I CANNOT sit around and watch the inhabitants of each world live in fear that they'll be struck down without warning should even the tiniest glimmer of darkness appear in their hearts. Because of the fear the Enforcers rule them with, they aren't truly alive; they're merely living in fear from day to day!" I take a few breaths, trying to compose myself, "...I don't care for fighting, but if that's what it will take to liberate the worlds I'll use it- but never, will I end someone else's life."

"Besides caring for our protection, well being, and destroying rebels and deserters like you!?" He said, blocking a slash. "Not much!" He swung down with the blunt end of the keyblade on the katana arm, with enough force to break it.

Horizon growled. In a way, this girl was right. There was always something wrong and corrupt going on. Horizon always ignored it; merely shut the door and left it alone. He would do things in his own way and hope others understood what he was doing.

"I've had enough." He muttered, giving a glance at Harumi and Kirito's fight. Harumi cried, her katana clattering to the floor as she clutched her arm. It appeared as if Kirito had broken it.

"I will end this." Horizon muttered, "You've all become an eyesore!" The fights, the arguments. Everything that was happening at once was setting off a fuse in Horizon's mind that finally blew.

"Alright, boss!" He said. He made a ball of light in his hand, jumped back, and threw it at Horizon.

I try to move, but I'm still paralyzed. I struck a chord with him, at least my words got across, but I can't for the life of me move anything other than my head!

Is this it? Am I really...gonna die here? Closing my eyes, I focus all my energy on trying to regain control of myself- come on!

Horizon slammed his blade into the ground. The powerful aura around him seemed to have momentarily increased, making his presence all the more threatening. For a moment -just a moment- a shadowy figure appeared behind him. To those versed in the knowledge of the Organization XIII, they may have recognized him. Zexion.

Horizon glared at Light, then Harumi. "Kirito. This will... take a moment. If you can end this before I can, then do so."

"Alright then!" He shot chains of light at Harumi.

((Wait, Kirito's attacking Horizon?! O.O I'm so lost xDx))

(I meant Harumi )

With all the strength I can muster, I slowly begin to regain control of myself. Horizon's distracted, so I'm about to say something when I notice the other Enforcer about to land an attack against Harumi!

Clumsily getting up, I get my balance somewhat and perform a Sliding Dash to intercept the attack- making it just in time to block it! But the impact knocks me back onto the ground.

At the very least, I blocked the strike against Harumi, but I still need some time to fully regain myself.

"Hurry up boss!" He said, tele-kicking Harumi in the face, and firing a bolt of light at light.

The Enforcer disappears, and before I know what's happening there's a bolt of light headed straight towards me! I barely roll over and out of the way, but not fast enough to get my right arm out of the way- the bolt of light hits and results in an impact that sends me skidding a few feet!

The light can't hurt me, but skidding across the ground like that can. I try to catch my breath as I get back up on my feet, this isn't going very well...

Horizon formed several orbs of light that surrounded his body, rushing and crashing down on the area. Several more appeared as the other disappeared, continuing for a long while. The orbs occasionally flashed into pillar, cleansing the area it flashed in with a cleansing holy light.

"You have forced my hand.." Horizon whispered.

  • Author

Seeing the Enforcer kicking Harumi, I dash over and push him away from her, summoning my Keyblade. I'm about to engage him when Horizon's actions catch my eye.

"What's with the light show?!" I call out to him, before focusing my attention on the Enforcer before me again with Keyblade in hand.

"Come on! " Kirito said, striking with precision "if you surrender peacefully, I'll try and get incarcerated instead of killed."

I try my best to block his strikes, but a number of them find their mark regardless. Trying to put an end to the flurry, I jump back and perform a Quick Blitz- aiming for his head to knock him out.

Kirito used the armored arm to block the attack, then used an energy slash counter. "Let's stop this, man!" He said "I don't want a pretty girl like you killed…"

  • Author

My attack blocked, I hear his words and jump back, still taking a defensive stance though.

"...You- don't want to fight?" I ask, catching my breath, "...then just take your wounded from the ramparts and leave- let the locals of Port Royal have their world back!"
