False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

...dead? So we've lost yet another comrade...these fights are costing us dearly. I clench my fists, the Enforcer rule needs to be stopped, to keep this from happening anymore!

Suddenly, the darkness within Ren begins to build up yet again. His rage for the loss of our friend is understandable, but he needs to accept his darkness already so he can keep it in check! I have no idea how to help him do so, but if he keeps going off like a loose cannon he'll become a danger to us all.

"Ren! He knew the consequences of resisting what stands to be the current government, yet he was prepared to sacrifice himself for a better future! Instead of getting upset and lashing out, we need to keep our cool, get Severa back, and organize ourselves properly!"

I analyze his words, trying to decide on how best to deal with them. "You- you think killing's the answer Ren?! They kill us, and we kill them- what will that accomplish? Just more people who are out to get revenge in the worlds! If we pull our punches, and merely remove the Enforcers from each world and send them back to The Land of Departure, those with common sense will see we're not killing while the Enforcers are: more people will join us and more will lose faith in the Enforcers, their own soldiers will turn on them and abandon their army! But if we go around killing, we won't look or be anything more than a bunch of heartless murderers who are no different than the Enforcers!"

The loss of more comrades; friends, makes the worlds a little more darker each time, which is why the killing has to stop. Ren's rage isn't helping either, as I don't even get a chance to mourn for those who are lost! Everything's so messed up- my weaknesses, the group's weaknesses, the way the Enforcers handle everything; nothing is as it should be!!

"AAAAHGHHHH!" He screamed, and the darkness receded. "I-I…" he started to sob. "This was my mission…I was the one who caused all of this… I couldn't save anyone…" he started to cry. These days displayed the most emotions he ever had. And it hurt him so.

"Doc!" Said Kirito "Can't you like, look inside my brain or something?!" He had another vision. It was small, but had sound. "This girl…how could this girl be in my heart? S-she's impure!"

I take a breath, and try to calm myself down. "Ren, you did your best- WE did our best, but it wasn't enough. We bit off more than we could chew, and because of that it cost us more than we were willing to lose. But from here on out we need to learn from this, and realize we have to liberate the smaller worlds first, gaining more strength in the process. We need to do this before tackling more heavily fortified worlds," I take a moment to pause, working it all out.

"We have to start from the bottom and work our way towards the top, taking out the Enforcers on smaller worlds first so we can gain experience and gradually become stronger."

"I can't even take care of them…" he started to ventilate. He was having a breakdown. "I can't save anyone…I kept you on this world…now Harumi…Severa… everyone…"

Sighing, it looks like Ren isn't really listening. Glancing around, I notice a vase with a flower in it- taking the flower out, I pour the water that was in the vase over Ren's head in an attempt to snap him out of it.

"Ren, you're not responsible for anyone but yourself- the rest of us can take care of ourselves and make our own decisions. The fact we followed you was a choice each person made on their own. You owe nothing to anyone but yourself."

He slowly calmed down, as his breathing went back to normal. "I'm… not worthy of such words…" he relaxed. "But thank you…"

Nova was always silent, he decided to speak out for once. "Ren, Light is right. This wasn't your fault. Instead of focusing on the faults we've made in the past we can all work together to create a better future." Nova did really care for everyone and was sad because of the losses they've faced but, there wasn't much that could have been done. "As cheesy as this may sound, as long as we work in unicin((?)) we can create a world were there is true light and we won't have to blame ourselves for what happened." Nova quited down. He really didn't want the others to suffer.

"I-I'm a wreck…" he said. "I've tried to control it, but it's too powerful…otherworldly…"

I can't help but smile and pat Nova on the back. "Exactly! Well put, Nova!" He rarely ever speaks up, so it's nice to see that he's expressing himself. Unfortunately, Ren's problem isn't going to just up and disappear into the blue.

"Ren, the darkness- you can't control it. When I was learning to use it, I realized that the only thing you can do is accept the darkness. If you try to repress it or rely too heavily on it, you'll be consumed. You need to instead make peace with it and accept that it's in you, then you can borrow from it from time to time. The darkness isn't something you can just use whenever you want or control- it's a power you have to respect."

If only I knew where my old "Master" was, surely he would be able to help Ren. But then again, I just told Ren what he taught me- so it's up to Ren whether or not he'll take it to heart and accept it.

Severa snaked her way through the hallways of Disney Castle, on a skateboard she had created from darkness. She laughed and did tricks as she threw small bombs of darkness everywhere that didn't do much besides cause chaos. A guard turned the corner in front of her, and Severa jumped off her board, kicked him in the head in a backflip, before landing back on the board. She felt like she could do anything. Parading through an Enforcer stronghold like this was great fun. It tasted sweet, like honey, and Severa loved honey. It was then that she spotted something in a side room. Startled, she fell off her skateboard. The Rebel stood back up, and ducked into the room. Lying on a cold, metal table was a man cloaked in blue. Severa's breathing got harder. She walked forward a step. Then another. Then another. She managed a full look at the figure. Oh God. Why... why... A tear dropped onto the floor. Severa collapsed to the cold tile, kneeling and sobbing. Oh Ryonne... why... Her empty sobs echoed slightly in the small room. Constant tears streamed down her face. Ryonne was there... on the table... eyes closed... not breathing. Severa shut her eyes hard, only to remember Ryonne's smirking face, his ready position during a sparring match, him sleeping peacefully. Oh, he always looked so adorable when he was sleeping. Another strangled sob was emitted from the lonely girl's mouth.

"Here she is!" A voice yelled from outside the room. Footsteps pounded behind her. A hand grabbed her shoulder, hard. A burst of dark flames enveloped that hand. It removed itself quickly, followed by screams of pain. Severa stood slowly. The familiar sound of metal sliding against the wood of her sheath met Severa's ears. She held the sword by her side. It felt heavy in her hands.

~Flashback~

"Here." Ryonne placed the sheath in Severa's arms. Severa's eyes widened in wonder, glancing from the sheath to Ryonne and back. Ryonne was smiling, something he didn't do too often back then. Severa slid the blade from its sheath, and looked at it in wonder. The sunlight gleamed off the steel perfectly, and the hilt was practically custom fit. A few rubies were embedded near the guard, gold inlay wove throughout the sword. Severa squealed, and practically jumped on Ryonne with a hug. Her trainer gasped for air, hesitated, then hugged her back. The embrace ended quickly. Ryonne gestured to the sword. "You've earned it. You've worked hard to catch up to me in training. It's time you graduated to a real blade, no more wood." Severa's smile was the widest it had been for months.

~Present~

Only later had Severa learned that her sword had cost Ryonne a good chunk of his inheritance. Severa turned slowly, and looked at the bunch of Enforcer guards gathered by the doorway. Her eyes were red, and tears still stained her cheeks, but a look of pure hatred was unmistakable. She charged immediately, slicing and stabbing like a devil. They would all pay. This was the last straw. Darkness erupted from her, as her anger boiled over. She let out a cry of anguish, and stabbed another Enforcer. Her father, the village, and now Ryonne. This would not stand. She was going to take down this regime once and for all.

Lyon smiled back to Horizon. "You're pretty good-looking to be honest." She said. Lyon wasn't lying(puns4dayz), Horizon really was quite handsome. "And besides that, some girls really dig the whole mysterious thing. That whole strong but silent thing is pretty awesome too." Lyon encouraged Horizon, despite the fact that he had just said he'd never settle down. "Personally, a family is only something I'd consider after I have done my duty to the Enforcers, and to the worlds. Even then, I may not. Who knows what I'll be thing years from now." Lyon reflected.

(Doing different colors for each character, now.)

Ausar:

The scientist sighed. "The heart." He murmured, "Something I've tried so hard to replicate. Even then...I've only accomplished twice." He said, giving a short, curt look a Kirito. "The heart is an interesting phenomenon...it can be molded and shaped. Corrupted and cleansed. But it it cannot be sold...there is no value for a soul. And yet, we can make fake ones."

Harumi:

Harumi grunted something, "Itai...my back.." She mumbled, wiping her face for a moment. Where was she? Last she could remember was having her arm broken by the one young Enforcer. Everything felt a little odd now. Had she been moved? Didn't feel like an Enforcer prison. "Doko..." She whispered, "Where..where am I..?"

Horizon:

"Yes. Perhaps I will change my viewpoint as well. After this...mess...perhaps I will give settling down a thought." He said, letting his mind wander for a moment. Could he really ever settle down? He was serious, blunt, and often scathing with his words. And then he was quiet and enigmatic. Difficult to love someone like that, for sure. He sighed, "Well, I certainly cannot let all the compliments be directed at myself. You yourself and quite attractive, I must say."

"So…" Kirito said. " there is something wrong with my heart? She's…corrupted it?" He grabbed Ausars clothes. "Can you please check it!"

Ren looked at her, and hugged Harumi. "You're alive, at least..."

Seeing Ren hugging Harumi, I realize she has finally woken up!

"Harumi! You're awake!" I exclaim, kneeling down beside her, "Everything's okay: we got out of there and are at Traverse Town now. The Enforcers haven't tracked us down yet, but Severa stayed behind, and Ryonne...well, Ryonne's no longer with us..." It's hard to just state that last part, but she needs to be brought up to speed on everything...no matter how painful.

"Thank goodness, glad to have you back Harumi!" Nova gladly remarked.

"I think it maybe time to devise a plan, any ideas?"

I can't help but raise my eyebrows in surprise at Nova's commenting. I smile, hoping he may be breaking out of his shell and warming up to the group.

"A plan- the plan for now is to liberate smaller worlds that aren't heavily occupied by the Enforcers," I tell the group, trying to think of which ones those would be, "for now we should focus on: Deep Jungle, Olympus Coliseum, or Wonderland. Those are three worlds that the Enforcers don't really bother protecting as much as others. So, which one do you guys think we should go to as a group? Or do you want to split up or go to a different world entirely?"

Ausar:

"Do not touch me!" Ausar exclaimed, wrenching himself from the other's grasp, "NEVER touch me!"

Harumi:

"Uhm.." Harumi stammered, looking at everyone. She suddenly woke up and just as suddenly everyone was all over her, saying their praises for her having woken up. "So...uhm....you guys...you guys know..I guess. About me."

Kirito was stunned. "I guess you can't help me…" he sat down. He looked at his keyblade arm. He flinched into a vision. Dead people all around him.

Ren kept his hold on Harumi, as if she was to die any minute. "Why did you leave the enforcers?"

  • Author

[side: Light]

Harumi seems to still be a little out of it, so I should probably take things a little slower I suppose. "Yeah we know- who cares if you used to be with the Enforcers? Point is you're here with us now!" I tell her cheerfully. I almost joined them at one point, so I can definitely understand why anyone would want to leave them.

Ausar:

Ausar growled, looking and resuming his odd experiments. "Of course I cannot help you. You speak of someone as if they're of any importance to me. Wrong. If there is something the matter...explain what it is! It is annoying to be yelled at by a whining brat such as yourself, when you cannot even explain why  something has happened, nonetheless be able to explain anyone involved. It grates my nerves.." Ausar continued to ramble on, ignorant of Kirito's momentary trance.

Harumi:

"Saw something I shouldn't have." Harumi admitted, "Wrong place wrong time, yes? I saw something rather terrible--something treacherous for someone of my status to be viewing. I don't even think the Captains would've been allowed to see it. I ran away after that. They wanted me dead."

"Ausar." He said, snapping out of the trance. "I just met her today, but it feels like I know her from a time and place I can't recall. Though it feels like I should. It's clouding my judgement and abilities… as for the 'why'… her existence?"

This is new. I just dislike the Enforcers for their actions, but there's actually something they're hiding that shook Harumi up this much? "Harumi, what exactly was it that you saw? We need to know if there are any other threats than just the Enforcers ruling all of the worlds."

Lyon blushed and glanced away for a moment. After that, she laughed at herself for being so ridiculous. "Why thank you Horizon. Who knew you could be so sweet?" She said teasingly. Finally, they found themselves at Lyon's home. Realizing their stroll was no over, Lyon frowned, but quickly resolved it with a smile. Lyon skipped up the stairs, and stood at the door. "Well, I guess our little chat is over. Thanks for, uh, walking me home." Lyon said. She was about to enter into her home, when something caught her eyes in the sky.

~Meanwhile~

Severa sliced through a final Enforcer guard. Tears were still streaming down her face. Severa took a deep breath, and thought about what she should do next. Returning to the rest of the group would probably be the best thing to do. Severa opened a dark corridor, and walked through. Finding herself on the roof of Disney Castle, Severa decided to leave one last message for these "peacekeepers". She opened her palm, and darkness burned on her palm. The sky became dark as a cloud of some sort went over the sun. The "cloud" seethed with darkness, and wrote a message. "You Will Pay" was the message in the cloud. Satisfied, she walked through another dark corridor, and found herself back in Traverse Town. Seeing everyone again, brought all the pain back in an instant. With nothing to take her anger out on, all the negative feelings turned straight to sorrow. She fell to her knees, and sobbed, her head in her hands.

~~~~~~~~~~
"You will pay." Lyon read from the clouds. She could recognize that the message was written in darkness. "Did the Rebels we just catch escape? Or is there another band in the world?" Lyon questioned, not really expecting an answer.
Ausar:
"Oh? Well, let's see....it...is very well possible that your heart is connected to hers. Perhaps you have met before, and do not realize it. Or simply in some alternate timeline/past life, you and this person were close." Ausar said, suddenly turning around with his arms behind his back. In a hunched position he finally walked over to Kirito.
Harumi:
"Yeah." Harumi said, her voice a whispered. "I was lost. Heh...Nii always told me I had a terrible sense of direction...but...I stumbled into the lower levels, intending on finding my class. Didn't realize those lower levels were...well, restricted. A wonder no one stopped me. Of course, I guess people have the common sense to not go down there. But I did. And...I stumbled into the wrong room, thinking it was my class. There was...a bunch of scientists. Making something..."
Horizon:
Horizon chuckled. It was honestly somewhat cute the way Lyon suddenly skipped up the steps, as if their walk had lightened her heart. But when she stopped and stared at the sky, so did Horizon. He frowned, seeing the words. You Will Pay.
"It seems rest will have to wait."
"What are you doing-" as soon as Ausar touched his forehead, it felt like his brain shut down, as he went limp.
"Like what?" Ren said
Harumi:
"Making....people." Harumi murmured, momentarily digging her face into Ren's chest. She wasn't the type to seek any comfort--she as the go-getter, do-it-yourself girl who did her own thing. But recalling those memories (Plus healing wounds) had been a heavy tax on both her mind and body.
"They were making clones..replicas."
Ausar:
Ausar chuckled, "Poor poor you. A prototype. Thankfully I thought to install a memory bank, some way to record those memories of yours in case I need them." He sneered, closing his own eyes. "Ah yes. So that's who it is. I see. Well then." Ausar said, releasing his grip on Kirito's head. "Don't worry. That process is perfectly harmless. Though the last replica did explode rather violently."
