False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

His fist colliding with an Enforcer's temple, Brad sends the final soldier plummeting off a cliff. "Don't come back!" he calls after them. The battle over, he sets his sights on his next task.

Before him sit dozens of cages, each housing numerous gorillas. Slowly but surely he begins opening up each cage. "Don't worry, I'll have you guys out of here before you can say 'banana'. Good thing is, Deep Jungle- or rather this world, didn't have a Colonel either, so liberating this place was a cakewalk." Upon unlocking the final cage, he pauses a moment to take in another job well done.

Suddenly, the biggest gorilla amongst them all steps up to Brad, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Hey no need to thank me, just doin-" The gorilla's grip tightens, as it launches the man into the air with a powerful toss!

"You're not very trusting of humans after that little fiasco right?! I understand- no hard feelings!!" The man remains aloft for several seconds before crashing into a patch of trees some miles away from the pack of gorillas.

Lyon smiled, still lying on the ground. She had beaten him. Hopefully that meant Horizon and the others could get the rest. Then, these Rebels wouldn't be escaping again. That was for sure. They had proved themselves much too dangerous to be left alone, or another world might liberated. As it was, this specific group of Rebels had done enough damage as to take the Empire months to recover and rebuild. Lyon was satisfied, and left consciousness, drifting away.

~~~~~~~~
A harsh laugh came from behind Brad. A girl stepped out from the trees behind him. "Hey." Severa said to the lone Rebel. "I need a favor from you." Severa said. She explained to the fellow Rebel that her group was currently under assault from a lot of captains, and they needed his help. "So if we portal over there right now, you can evac the fallen and the rest. I'll distract whoever's left, and leave before I get myself caught. Seem alright?" Severa proposed to the other Rebel. Hopefully he would say yes, or she'd be stuck doing the duty herself.
Horizon:
Horizon came back around with his blade, slashing at Light as fast as he could manage. It was an almost-blinding speed, his movements now faster than any eye could register. He would defeat this girl. Lyon it seemed, had successfully won her battle with one of the others. Which now left Horizon to beat Light, and finish the war once and for all. Horizon swept with his sword arm, bring his empty palm up towards Light.
"Fire." Horizon murmured, his palm lighting up with fire as he brought it to Light and fired off the small fireball.
The man slowly gets back on his feet, brushing himself off as he listens to her story. He had no idea where the girl had come from, or how long she'd been there- but he only dwells on those thoughts for a second at best. He isn't one to strategize, analyze, or think things through.
"Rebels, huh? I sure hope you're not the group I think you are, but I guess I'll find that out soon enough." Cracking his knuckles, the man prepares himself for the next battle as the newcomer opens a Corridor of Darkness. "Darkness...yeah, it's probably you guys- great..." He shakes his head, readying himself. "There won't be any need to evacuate though- if all you're dealing with are Captains, I'll clear them out in no time."
He takes a few moments to psych himself up- forming a fist with his right hand and punching his left. "...ALRIGHT! Let's do this!" He charges into the portal, ready to face whatever battles await him.
Before I can register what's happening, Horizon has disappeared! I feel a stinging sensation in my right arm- he's come up behind me and landed a hit!! I nearly drop my Keyblade, using my left hand to stem the blood flow from my right arm- barely able to still hold my weapon.
He launches a Fire at me, I successfully Guard it but get sent back a few feet. With my right arm damaged like this there's very little I can do- I won't lose hope though, Severa and Nova are still out there, and Ren's battle has finally ended in a stalemate; we can still win this!
Edited by Silver Kuroi
Enno sensed a darkness coming. He spotted the corridor beginning to form, and flashed over to the area. As another Rebel came charging through the corridor blindly, Enno held his sheath out like a blockade. The foolish rebel impacted, and was sent to the ground immediately. The dark corridor evaporated. Enno, satisfied, looked down at the rebel. Then, another dark corridor manifested behind him, and the hilt of a blade came through, knocking Enno to the ground too. Severa stepped through the portal, and looked at the cloaked Enforcer. She considered killing him, it would feel good, but she decided to leave him for her new friend. Severa analyzed the situation. Ren was near the girl Enforcer that had caught them earlier. Both were incapacitated. She glanced also towards Light and Horizon. The battle was not going well on that front either. She dashed over to that fight. Her own blade now at the ready, and darkness writhing around her off-hand, she spoke. "Light, go help Ren. The Cap and I have some unfinished business." Severa's voice tinged with hatred.
Enno picked himself up, and glanced towards the Rebel. The girl had already run off. "Get up so I may end this honorably." Enno's voice was dead serious, without hesitation. The Captain was ready for a fight.
The man rushes through the portal energetically- the sight before his eyes when he enters the world catching him off guard. This is probably why he gets knocked back by the Enforcer's sheath blocking his path. He's shocked, barely aware that he's even falling backwards. "So...it is you." He says this to no one in particular, his eyes glazed over.
The impact of hitting the ground doesn't seem to faze him either, he merely lies there looking up at the the ceiling. "...well then, guess I shouldn't be slacking off- I don't need to give you more reasons to yell at me."
Rising back to his feet, the man is vaguely aware of the Enforcer in front of him speaking. His attention is more focused on someone else though, watching her every movement just to be safe. As she begins moving across the room, he grabs the Enforcer by the shoulders and carefully uses the soldier to block himself from the girl's view.
Thankfully, she comes to a stop with her back to them. The man lets out a huge sigh. "...well that was close," he lets go of and takes a step back to examine the Enforcer before him, "okay, so we doing this?" The Enforcer's glare answers the question. "Alright then, here we go!"
His excitement evident, Brad rears his fist back, launching it into the Enforcer's gut- sending the man back a few feet with the sound of cracking armor. "...Armor, huh? You really gonna hide behind that and your weapons?" Brad takes a moment to crack his fists before resuming a battle stance with his fists up, "That's pretty lame dude."
I try to focus my attention on Horizon, anticipating his next move. I'm not too sure I'll be able to deflect his next attack- when suddenly Severa is in front of me! She tells me to go to Ren, but who will deal with that- oh, there seems to be someone else confronting that Enforcer. I'm assuming it's Nova, I should help him but Severa's right; right now Ren needs my help most.
Using Sliding Dash to cover the ground between us, I reach Ren and sit next to him. Casting Cure on him, I cast Cure on myself to stop the bleeding in my arm, then focus my attention on moving Ren over to a wall so as to prop him up against it.
Ren looked at light with eyes of self pity. "That's...three...." He said. He shouldn't be this weak... Even with this darkness within him... "Light... Can I ask you something? If we survive this?"
He needed to ask this...
If he ever lost himself... He needed her to know...
I look down at him. He shouldn't be talking, rather resting- but I can't make myself cut him off.
"...what is it, Ren?"
That wasn't armor Brad had heard cracking. Those were ribs. And it hurt. A lot. Enno focused his eyes, which of course couldn't be seen under his hood, but still, his glare was hard enough to be felt. He also wasn't going to let this boy dishearten him with his cocky speech. "A weapon is more than a shield to hide behind. It is an extension of your will, sharpened to make your will felt. A weapon is a best friend, one that will preserve your life." Enno readied his own blade, extracting it from it's sheath slowly. "You not using one only tells me that you are overly confident, and choose to be alone." Enno readied his blade with a flourish. Long and sturdy, but also nicked with scratches and chips on occasion. It's master had used it well for a long time. Yet Enno still felt no connection to it. Odd.
Ren looked away. "Now is not the time... We need to be... Safer… and healthier..." He looked at the battlefield. "Do you think this will change? This cat and mouse..."
The man can't help but smile. "That's right, I fly solo- other people just hold me back," he punches his fists together, "however, I'll use my strength to protect those who need protecting."
Growing restless, Brad launches off the ground, rearing his right arm back in preparation to land another punch. He was ready to finish this up and hit the road.
"I don't need a weapon for my will to be felt!!" Inches away, up in the air slightly above the the Enforcer, Brad throws his punch- aiming it at the soldier's hooded head.
I nod my head. "Yes Ren- we just have to get stronger, then we'll be able to liberate the worlds without having to worry about the Enforcers."
I notice his bleeding has stopped, but I cast Cure on him again just for extra measure. My own wound has healed up, so I can at least protect Ren should anything come up. I trust Severa and Nova though- I need to focus on Ren right now and make sure he doesn't go berserk again.
I look over at the Enforcer he faced- she's lying unconscious as well. Before really thinking it through, I rush over to where she's lying, taking hold of her and dragging her over to the wall I placed Ren at- put quite some distance away from him.
With her out of the way of the battle, I go back over to Ren. "Ren, you really should begin accepting your darkness and stop holding it back- only by accepting both darkness and light can you embrace the balance."
"You think I haven't tried?" He said to light. "Every time... It's like I'm being dragged in by it...as if It's controlling me..." He looked at her. "And that's why I have to tell you... In case my fears are true..."
"Anyone can try Ren, but believing and doing it is something else entirely. You need to face it and acknowledge that it is a force that cannot be controlled or channeled- you need to know it will assist you from time to time, but never rely too heavily on it. Darkness is alive and powerful, you needn't be scared of it but rather respect it- do that and your worst fears will never come true, nor will they have to exist."
Ren smiled. "Thanks for thinking that, but, as you saw... It's too late..." He looked at his corrupted arm. He looked at her. "If we ever do… save the world... Do you ever think..."
I look down at his arm, then focus my attention on his face again. "Don't you give up, Ren- you can get through this and come out both stronger and wiser. Do NOT give up- you can do this, you just have to believe. Do NOT give up! Only cowards give up Ren, only those who are too weak and scared give up and run away. You're going to be fine and come out of this- just have the courage to face it and not give in!"
Ren smiled. "If we do get out of this... I'd love to...to be your...."
I look down at him, wondering why he's pausing.
"Ren, are you okay?"
Ren held her hand. "Would you be my girl...?" He said. He knew this probably was not the time. But he felt time running out...
It comes as a shock- is he, really asking me this- here? I didn't see this coming- what do I...?
"...Ren, I-"
That's when I hear it- that voice.
"-for my will to be felt!!"
My heart drops as the words reach my ears. My pupils must've dilated, as I sit frozen taking in the realization. Suddenly I'm shaking in anger- my mind dropping everything and homing in on this one fact: he's here. Very slowly, I manage to direct my eyes in the speaker's direction- there he is. My Keyblade materializes in my free hand, as my grip around its handle tightens. It's the single, most despicable thing that I hate in this universe more than the Enforcer's tyranny itself.
Brad.
"Light?" Ren said, looking at her. "What's wrong?" He looked at the man. "Who... Is that?"
I thought I'd be able to control myself the next time I saw him- for months I pushed him out of my mind and focused solely on liberating the worlds. But here he is- out of the blue, drawing all my old emotions out of me within seconds.
I have to get a grip, this is no time- no it's the perfect time- no, I- have to focus- but he's-
...I hear Ren, but the sound of his voice is muffled. "...that, Ren," I begin, trying to keep my voice steady, but my Keyblade is shaking like a leaf in the wind in my grip.
No- I have, to- control myself- just-
"...Ren," I'm standing back up, fixated on Brad as he throws a punch at the Enforcer's hooded head, "-I'll be right back."
Ren nodded, gripping his wound. He was so stupid… to bring the question at a time like this... "Don't hurt yourself..."
I manage to cast Cure on Ren yet again for good measure, then propel myself towards the two men fighting- my strength suddenly back at full. If I was thinking rationally, I probably would've noticed this was Hyper Healing taking affect.
My target's in sight; I WILL make him pay for everything he's done- or to put it more correctly, everything he didn't do.
Horizon:
Horizon looked before him, watching the girl. He had seen her before, but her name escaped him. Not that it mattered. She knew him, and surely had a need for revenge after their last battle. Horizon watched her, looking over Severa slowly.
"So...what is it that you want? Revenge?" Horizon asked, "Fool. But chiding you will have no effect...you have chosen your path."
