False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

Ren stumbled into the room in the local Tavern. He felt sick for some reason...he went to the bathroom, washed his face, and looked in the mirror. "What?" He whispered.

One of his eyes glowed yellow for a second. He blinked, and it was gone. "Must be my imagination..."

"I took care of a lot of them." Harumi replied, taking a step to turn around and look behind her. The presence and amount of Enforcers had gone down considerably. Only a few stragglers remained, and most of them were also beaten down.

"Don't know if I got all of them, though. Is there any one else besides us? They might be around clearing what's left." Harumi said, looking back at Light, "Now, what happened and why did you hurt Ren? I trust it was just an accident, yes? I wouldn't imagine a kawaii girl like you would harm anyone."

Nova was worried for Ren. He really hoped that he would be okay, he also hoped Light wouldn't be misunderstood. She was a good girl and a very nice person in general. "We should probably look for a place to regroup. There's bound to be someone else here other than the Enforcers that could cause us harm."

"Argh..." Ren felt excruciating pain. Something was happening...

-do you desire power?-

"What the hell!?"

-I am the darkness, the power in manifest.-

"Darkness?"

-you want to protect them?-

He looked at the mirror. A force drove him to. He saw his friends.

-you want to restore balance?-

He saw the utopia that he dreamed of, free of the oppression of light.

-you want to protect her?-

He saw...Light. Safe.

-you want her?-

"I-I..."

-to restore, to protect, to obtain... You need me-

He saw himself, with yellow eyes.

-I am your darkness-

The yellow eyed him outstretched his hand

-You must accept me.-

"I- I didn't hurt him," I start to explain to Harumi, trying to piece it all together, "I just- I let my guard down...and he got hurt, because he protected me..." ...is it my fault? It's- no, I can't get lost in thought right now; I'll figure out the specifics later.

Right now I have to focus on the present situation. Harumi says the majority of them have been taken out, and it's true Severa and Ryonne are still fighting, so odds are they'll take care of any stragglers- but I don't want to leave them behind. At the same time, I'm worried about Ren.

Thankfully Nova voices his opinion, making the decision for me.

"Okay, we'll head for wherever Ren went and decide on our next course of action from there," I tell Nova and Harumi, stepping back and calling out, "Severa! Ryonne! We're leaving!!"

With that, I turn around and hurry out of the Enforcer encampment, following the trail of blood unfortunately left behind by Ren...

"Whatever yah say. I believe you. I can tell you aren't the kind to hurt someone, yes?" Harumi said, smiling a little as she nonchalantly walked alongside Light and Nova. Now this she was starting to like. Honest-to-god frienships and reasons to be alive. Sure, she barely knew these people. But they were leaps and bounds ahead of the Enforcers when it came to tightness and a family-like surrounding. Maybe Harumi was wrong; she just preferred to see it that way.

"This'll seem a little random...probably a touch bachigai no, but where are you guys from? I hope you don't mind me askin'."

-YOU MUST ACCEPT!-

"AAAAHGHHHH!" He dreamed in pain. He felt the darkness creep in. He didn't like it. He was a equalizer, not a vessel. He stumbled around the room. The darkness was painful, and powerful. He felt burning on his chest. "I will never take sides!" He looked at his chest.

-You were going to die. We gave you life, not her. We allowed you a second chance-

The pain stopped. His chest hurt.

He heard footsteps.

Hearing Harumi's comment, I can't help but smile. "Thank you for saying that Harumi...it means a lot."

I don't want to hurt people, I was raised not to...all life is important...it's something Mom and Dad taught me. Hearing Harumi's next question, I have to think about it.

"Do you mean where we each individually came from, our where our group hails from?" I ask, wanting to make sure. Just so there's no misunderstanding, I decide to answer both, "We all came from this remnant of an old world I named Garland Hub, but I was originally born on The Land of Departure- although my family moved a lot so I don't really have a specific home world."

After telling her this, I realize we've arrived at a Tavern- thank goodness!

He analyzed himself in the mirror. A streak of his hair turned grey, and both his eyes flashed yellow. The sign of corruption. He closed his eyes, and tried to control the darkness. His eyes reverted, but his hair did not. He heard Lights voice faintly. He put his hat on, and cleaned up the room from the mess he made.

Together Ryonne and Severa took out the remainder. They had worked together for so long, it was easy enough to take care of a few low level Enforcers. Finally, Severa ripped her blade out of the last Enforcer, and they heard Light's call. The two quickly made their way to the group, and followed a little behind the others, joking and messing around. It was well known in the group that Severa was the only one Ryonne would act like that around, and vice versa. Separate, they were some of the strongest in the group, but together they were unbeatable. As the group entered the tavern, Ryonne spoke up. "Light, you should go check on Ren. The two of you are the closest."

"And in the meanwhile, we might like to meet our new member." Severa s aid, gesturing to Harumi. Ryonne nodded in agreement.

"I am Ryonne Mors, and my comrade here is Severa Orem. Might I ask your name?" The swordsman asked politely.

Lyon smiled a little at Horizon. She had seen the whole thing from the crystal ball in her gummi ship on the way. It really was quite entertaining. "I didn't think it was that cheap..." She said to the Captain. "But anyway, we need to go, and quick. Command issued both of us to take control of Port Royal. Before it's too late that is..." Lyon rolled her eyes at the last statement

She put out her hand, and a light portal appeared. Lyon jumped through it, and landed in the now empty fort. She swore under her breath, as the Enforcer scanned her surroundings, looking for a soldier.

Inside the tavern, I nod to Ryonne's suggestion. "Alright."

As I begin walking away, I remember that Ryonne's being up and moving means he's recovered from his battle with Horizon!

"Oh yeah! I'm glad to see you're back to your old self!" I exclaim, spinning around to face him and the others, then turn back in the direction of the room Ren has apparently checked into.

Stopping outside the door, I make sure to knock. "Ren? Ren are you okay?"

He pulled his hair back. He was afraid of what had transpired. He was more afraid of telling her. He would find a way to contain it, no doubt... He opend the door, walked out, and closed it behind him. "I'm fine." He said to Light. "What of the others?"

  • Author

"They're all here, we cleared out the Enforcers at the ramparts- and everyone's fine," I tell him, just glad to see he's doing better. It looks like his bleeding has stopped too, thank goodness. "Well, let's go show the others you're alright!"

I start down the hall, but stop in my tracks; turning back to face Ren. "Thank you for saving me Ren...it's my fault you got hurt...I'm sorry."

Edited by LightChaser

"It's fine.." He said. "So, what's next on-"

He felt a presence of strong light. Two of them. "We need to regroup and move, quick!"

  • Author

"O-Okay," I say, not understanding the sudden sense of urgency that's taken Ren, but nonetheless hurry back to where the others are gathered around.

Harumi cocked her head and smiled, gladly shook Ryonne's hand. "Harumi Tahu, at your service!" She declared, giving a mockery of a bow, "I'm glad to be apart of the team. No problem with you, yes?" She asked, continually using the odd inflections.

Horizon unsheathed his keyblade. He was genuinely surprised. Even he had doubted that so many Enforcer's could be taken down so easily. He looked to Lyon and said, "Did they have a Captain-level soldier here? It certainly does not seem that way."

"Oh, there you guys are, I was getting worried." ... "I take it you feel at least a little bit better right?" Nova was still worried for both Light and Ren. Although only Ren was physically injured, Light had emotional scars. Not many people can easily go back to their lives when living with the guilt that you got your friend stabbed.

"I sense oncoming enforcers." He looked away "Strong."

  • Author

"Enforcers?" I blurt out, evidently surprised, as I had believed we'd taken care of them already, "Wait- do you mean the presences you sense are even stronger than the ones we just fought? If that's the case, they could be higher-ups..."

If these guys are reinforcements, how are we to act? Should we take them together? Run? No, we're so close to liberating this place! Should I offer to fight them, but why would I fight them? To get revenge for Ren's injury? No, that's my fault, I shouldn't blame the Enforcers for it. So then- ugh! I haven't had enough time to sort out my emotions; what am I supposed to do?!

...I don't want anyone else getting hurt, especially not because of me...that much I DO know...

"We could keep low.... " Ren said "The first one I sensed seemed familiar... But the other one I'm not so sure about..." He looked at the group "Besides, if we leave now, when we do come back they will be stronger... Right now they wold be too busy attending to the injured..."

  • Author

"Sooo, you want us to wait and recover?" I ask Ren, trying to figure out what to do.

Their main forces are gone, meaning this world is almost free of Enforcer control. The whole point of our being here was to get the Enforcers to back off, so we definitely shouldn't leave when we've almost achieved our goal.

"We're so close to liberating this place...I- I'm not leaving until the Enforcers go; we have to liberate this world and return it to the citizens of Port Royal!" I exclaim to the group, still wracking my brain for a solution to everything, and where I stand.

Edited by LightChaser

"My sentiments exactly..." Ren said. "We take down the lesser strongholds later. For now, let's rest..." He walked back to the tavern. "I think we all need that much..."

Harumi fidgeted. High-level Enforcers? She began to sweat from anxiety, fretting over the fact that the higher ups were arriving. That meant two things:

One, it was more likely Harumi would be found out. She was often talked about as a 'prodigy' in the academy.

Two, they were all going to die.

"We should...get away from them as quickly as possible." Harumi said.

Ren paused "Why?" He looked at Harumi with force, a deadpan scare that produced intensity at the same time. "We all know that it will get worse if we just leave... Is there a reason behind our retreat that we have not already conversed?"

"Well...you know. I've heard a lot about the higher-ups. You fought one, right? If there's more than one of them here, that means trouble. I've done a lot of traveling, and you'd be surprised what I've learned." Harumi said, her mind working at triple capacity to think of something believable enough to say. It wasn't truly a lie either--she usually checked up with every town to check on about what the Enforcer's were doing.
