False Light, Consuming Darkness (Roleplay)

Posted

(Optional Soundtrack)

In a timeline parallel to the one in Kingdom Hearts, the Keyblade War has come to an end. The difference in this timeline is, instead of the darkness taking over and the lights in children’s hearts bringing the worlds back, the light is utterly victorious. The Keyblade Wielders who sought to obtain the X-Blade have been crushed- with those who wield the light believing themselves to be those chosen by Kingdom Hearts.

The world has been broken apart by the terrible war, but the residents of each individual world pay little heed to this detail. They go about their lives, not troubling themselves with matters outside their own worlds now.

This would be fine enough, but those who won the war have become drunk with power. The Keyblade Wielders of light have lost sight of their former selves, becoming tyrants and dictators who despise the dark greatly. Because of this, they stop at nothing to destroy anyone with even the tiniest bit of darkness in their heart; they do this in an effort to prevent a second Keyblade War from ever happening.

This has brought peace, in theory, but the truth of the matter is everyone who bends to the will of those who wield light do so only out of fear. Is this true peace? Should the light be allowed to control the worlds simply because of their former righteousness?

A small group of rebels, some the descendents of those who fought, died, or merely lived during the Keyblade War, have come together for a common cause: to put an end to the light’s tyranny. Situated on a small, forgotten chunk of a former world, the seemingly abandoned mansion in which they reside houses each and every one of them. It is from here they travel to other worlds to bring back true peace, and also here where they go to rest up or merely kick back with one another. This outpost has been given the designation Garland Hub, for one of its members merely named it after the first thing she could see.

Meanwhile, those who fight for the light and protect the X-Blade have made their base in a world called The Land of Departure. It is here where veterans of the Keyblade War and their students reside, acting as a base of sorts and is primarily the light’s equivalent to Garland Hub.

Having come from various different backgrounds, the rebels have trained and honed their skills so that they may begin to make a difference. Those of the light merely learn from their Masters and travel forth to the worlds as enforcers.

Those who wish to remove the light from power, and those who wish to govern with it…just what drives them? And whose resolve will win out in the end and ultimately shape the worlds and their inhabitants? The answer lies within each of their individual decisions…

Okay, so here are the rules I can think of:

[*]No God Modding

[*]You can be multiple characters and even have characters on either side of the conflict

[*]You can be an Apprentice or a Master should you choose Enforcer, but should you choose Rebel, you need to be an Apprentice who may or may not have experience- the rebels have no adult leadership or Masters at the time being.

[*]Romance is allowed, but must be PG-13 at most

[*]Please refrain from too much foul language

[*]You can’t kill someone else’s character unless you both contact me that this is something you both are okay with- I don’t want anyone getting bullied >:S

[*]There are NO Original Kingdom Hearts characters in this timeline- so no Sora, Roxas, Terra, Xehanort, etc. They did not exist before the current timeline occurs either, so they cannot be referenced.

[*]Disney characters exist in their respective worlds, you CANNOT kill them unless you pm me and I approve it. I would probably only approve it if their death is canon, so don’t go trying to slay the 7 Dwarfs xP

I think that’s it, I’ll add to this post if it’s necessary! ^^

How long have I been laying here? A minute? An hour? I have no sense of time here in Garland Hub, as the sky is always dark. The worlds illuminate the sky as stars, but never cease to hang there above us- there is no daytime here anymore. Perhaps this is the side effect of this world being incomplete?

There’s only a small chunk left of this mysterious world, and on it sits the mansion in which we all reside. We’re pretty different, all here for an array of reasons, but we all share a common goal: to overthrow the Enforcers.

They’ve been bullying each of the worlds and their inhabitants, so I say enough is enough. I will fight, to put an end to this false peace, and remove the fear that governs everyone to act like sheep under the Enforcer’s rule.

Sitting up, I throw my legs over the side of the bed and stand up- I’m ready, I’ve been training myself for years and honing the techniques Mom and Dad taught me…I need to start making a difference.

I open the door to my room as quietly as possible, as the others are all sleeping in their own rooms- or at least I assume they are. I don’t want to trouble them, so I’ll go out on my own for this mission: to finally begin making our presence known, and let the Enforcers know they can’t keep getting away with acting like dictators.

Weaving my way through the halls, I make it to the ground floor and head out the front doors. There’s a porch, but beyond that is merely space- the chunk of land this mansion sits atop is only enough to actually hold the mansion; the grounds that once surrounded it have disappeared completely. Maybe this is why the Enforcers don’t know of this place- as it is simply a beaten up, old looking mansion in the middle of space…or maybe they just don’t care.

Whatever the reason is, it’s no concern of mine at the time being. Summoning my Keyblade, I’m about to turn it into a Keyblade Glider when I stop and hesitate- should I really go out to a new world all on my own? I mean it’s not entirely new, Dwarf Woodlands they’re called, I’ve visited there once or twice, but now I plan on going there to actually pick a fight with the Enforcers. Should I really tackle this challenge on my own? I look back at the lobby of the mansion, wondering if I should see if anyone else wants to go…

Rest...I should probably do that. That last battle did wear me down, so odds are I wouldn't be able to hold my own against a higher-class Enforcer in my current condition...it would also give me some time to think before the next fight.

"Ren, is there enough space for us all to fit into the room you rented, or do we need a second one?" I ask, cutting into Harumi and Ren's conversation as I suddenly realize just how tired I am- the adrenaline must be wearing off.

Edited by LightChaser

"We need a second one, of course." Ren said to light. He turned to Harumi "Tell me, what rumors have you picked up about a man named Horizon? You have some, I presume?"

Harumi blinked. She looked down almost immediately.

"Horizon Fallo. He's one of the Captains. He usually does things on his own, and prefers an honorous fight over one of tricks and lies. He isn't the most powerful, but out of all the captains, I've heard he's one of the strongest." She said, looking back at Ren, "How did you get past him. He was still difficult, yes? Is someone on our side that is as powerful?"

  • Author

"Okay," I say, walking away from the conversation and over to the counter- barely focusing on what I'm doing.

What am I supposed to do now? What action do I take?

With the room purchased, I wave to the group. "Room oh-six, if the rest of you can't fit into Ren's," I tell them, heading down the hall, "Good night everyone!" I don't wait to receive any responses before departing.

Getting to the door, I enter the room- seeing there are two beds and a couch.

Just in case anyone else needs to get in, I leave the door unlocked, plop down on the couch, turn my back to the room and bury my face into the cushions.

...what should I do?

Edited by LightChaser

"Yes." Ren said. "We barely escaped... I would love to hear more about him." He walked to the tavern. "He is coming, after all... And he is brining a friend... So it's obvious it's the partner we must take care of first, right?" He stopped. "We strike tomorrow... We can split into groups... Me, Light, and you Harumi will go attack the pupil straight on. The rest will liberate the nearby places. Is that okay?"

Ryonne took his hand from Harumi. He had seen her fight. It was awfully similar to the Enforcer's style... But no matter. If she was a traitor, then he'd deal with her. But for now, she was a valuable part of the team. He listened to the conversation continue on, finally interjecting at the end. "I defeated Horizon. Well, technically we defeated each other. I managed to knock him out before my own wounds took me down as well." Ryonne explained to Harumi. Only now that he was reminiscing over the fight, he realized how brutal it was. The fight was a rush, one that Ryonne didn't feel often.

Severa joined Light in her room. "Hey Light." The girl said easily. She closed the door behind her, and plopped onto one of the nearby beds. Severa unbuckled her sword and sheath from her lower back, and laid on her back, staring up on the ceiling. "Hmph. One heck of a day wasn't it?" Severa said, remembering how the day had gone. From one world to the next, an attack by an Enforcer, and an attack on an Enforcer.

~~~~~~~~~~
Lyon walked around the courtyard, looking for any remnants of the Enforcer platoon that was stationed here. "No. This was only an outpost, the main stronghold is elsewhere on the world. But still..." Lyon seemed unsure of the Rebels had done it. Granted, one of them had the same amount of strength that Horizon did, but the rest didn't seem as strong.
Harumi looked at Ryonne, shock framing her face. "You beat Horizon? Even at a draw?" She asked, her eyes shocked and wide open, her mouth agape. To her, Horizon was the strongest Enforcer. Even if there were higher Enforcers, she felt Horizon was the epitome of strength. And to see a man who could hold his own against Horizon (and no less force a draw) was astounding.
~
Horizon sighed, "This is pitiful. Following their trail will be easy however. It is clear where they are heading. They wish to liberate this world. From the way these bodies are scattered, they are not too far off." Horizon said, looking at Lyon once.
Hearing Severa, I roll onto my back so the cushions won't muffle my voice.
"It sure was- you and Ryonne did great, by the way. You two are definitely the strongest in the group," I tell her, not wanting to flatter her or anything, I'm just stating the facts like I see them. Hopefully that came across in my voice.
"...if I was half as strong as you guys, Ren wouldn't have gotten hurt." I'm thinking out loud now, jeez I'm tired.
"They are at the site..." Ren turned around. "I'm afraid our plans our going to be rushed..."
Ryonne chuckled a slight bit at Harumi's surprise. "It was tough, but I did it. However, if Light hadn't come back, I most certainly would've been captured by the Enforcers, and most likely killed." Ryonne turned serious again. "I'm not at full strength right now though. I doubt I could hold he or his friend off in one-on-one right now. So, sleep is my best hope." Ryonne stretched. "Can you take first watch down here? Severa'll probably be down in a little bit to take over from you. She's never been a heavy sleeper." Ryonne said, beginning up the stairs. He waved farewell to her, and continued up the stairs, and walked into Ren's room. He set his sword down next to the bed, and jumped in. He was exhausted, and sleep quickly took him.
~~~~~~~~~

Severa relaxed on the bed. "Thanks." She replied to Light. "But don't beat yourself up. No good ever comes of it. All you can do now is get stronger, and hope that's enough." Severa said, trying to comfort Light. Severa yawned. She was tired. A few hours of sleep would do her some good.

~~~~~~~~~
Lyon turned to Horizon. "Then lead the way Sherlock." She said, gesturing to the entrance of the fort. She dismissed Redemption from her hand. There was no need for it at the moment. This was the first time she had ever worked with Horizon, but every soldier in the Enforcer's had heard legends about the man. It was thought that he was the strongest Enforcer there was. Lyon had always doubted that. Even now, the guy didn't seem like much. He was quiet, and so serious. Most definitely not the courteous gentleman she expected of him.
Ren nodded "Ok Ryone, I and Harumi will search. Harumi seems to be in the best shape, so if I find them, I'll warn you guys, and hopefully, Harumi will hold them off long enough for us to get back and fight."
Harumi sighed, "Yeah, sure." She said half-heartedly. She doubted she could stand up to the two Enforcers. The ones she had just faced were mere cannon fodder; while the Captains were entirely different in their strengths.
"Just don't expect me to hold 'em off too long."
~
Horizon nodded and lead the way. "I have heard a bit about you, Lyon." He said, giving her a glance, "I'm quite pleased to have someone of your caliber along with me. I may not seem like it, but company is a virtue. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned in that respect." Horizon rarely talked so much, and only seemed so due to his respect for Lyon's capabilities.
It's as if something just 'clicks' when Severa suggests I get stronger...if I became stronger, then...
"Thanks Severa, sleep well," I say to her absent-mindedly, rolling back over.
Get stronger...this is what I'm fixated on, as I close my eyes and allow sleep to take hold of me...
(Optional Soundtrack)
Initially waking up, everything comes across as a blur. Sitting up, it's a few seconds before my environment takes shape, and a few more after that to remember what it is I'm doing here.
That's when I remember the events that took place the day before- how we fought the Enforcers and came here. I'm about to fall into a slump as I remember the details and Ren getting hurt, but then I recall Severa's words.
Get stronger.
Clearly, if I train and obtain a larger arsenal of techniques, I won't ever have to worry about being a burden or putting others in harm's way again!
Very quietly, I tiptoe out of the room, trying not to disrupt Severa's sleep, and gently close the door behind me.
In the hall now, I decide to avoid the lobby and exit through the tavern's back door, finding myself outside with the night sky overhead. Either I was sleeping for a really long time, or the sky doesn't change here either. Then again, not many worlds have a changing sky- they supposedly share the same sky, but each world's looks somewhat unique.
Anyway, I can't afford to get distracted- I have to train myself for the coming battle against the Enforcers! Before I went to sleep yesterday, Ren said he felt two strong presences. If I'm not going to be a burden, and actually hold my own, I need to teach myself some more of Mom and Dad's techniques.
Summoning my Keyblade, I take a battle stance. Which techniques would be most useful yet also be capable of being self-taught?
With some in mind, I don't hesitate to begin practicing!
Edited by LightChaser
Ren hadn't stopped to sleep for the entire watch. He saw Light leave the room. It looked safe, so he saw problem in following her.
"Traning?" Ren said to Light. He walked in front of her. "Wanna spar? It's better to train with someone." He chuckled "I don't think we will be fighting trees or the air anytime soon."
  • Author
My attention on the spot a few yards away, I close my eyes and focus...all I need to do is dash to there from here.
My Keyblade at the ready...I take a quick breath...and cut myself short 'cuse Ren's in front of me!
"Oh, hey Ren," I greet him, lowering my Keyblade and listening to his proposition, "Yeah, I guess we won't be fighting any trees or air here...I was just going through the motions of a few new moves, or trying to anyway."
It's nice Ren wants to help me, but... "Are you sure we should spar against each other? We'd both be spending energy against each other that we should be reserving for the Enforcers."
Normally sparring would be a good plan, that way we could both hone our skills, but with a battle against very tough opponents looming overhead I don't want to risk it.
Not wanting to hurt his feelings or anything, I try to think of a solution- when one hits me!
"Oh! Actually, you can help me out!" I exclaim, pushing him over to the spot on the ground I was going to dash towards earlier, "From here, I want you to cast Fire, or something along the lines of that, consecutively at me."
I hurry back over to my original position and take a stance with my Keyblade, "I need to practice Guarding."
Edited by LightChaser
"Alright...." He placed his hands out, and sent a fire volley at Light. "What do you plan to do?" Ren said whilst casting. "If we ever destroy our oppressors? I don't think you are the type to settle down, so what are you going to do?"
  • Author
With the salvo of Fire being cast at me, I try to figure out the most optimal way to Guard each blast with my Keyblade- trying a different form of defense each time.
Ren's question surprises me a bit- no one really asks for personal information about me, so I never really get to voice it.
It takes me a few seconds to piece it all together in words. "Well...immediately after this is all done, I'll probably go visit my parents and then patch things up with the rest of my family," I tell him simply, still trying to decide on my optimal Guard position, "What about you?"
"Hmm..." He stopped casting. "I can't say I have a plan..." He scratched his chin. "I don't have any parents... Never cared for fame, or was that good with women...I'll probably be alone... I won't stay with you guys, I would weigh you down." He laughed "Don't worry, you will find someone!" He smiled.
  • Author
I Guard the last burst of Fire, sure that I can now successfully pull off the move! My Keyblade disappearing in a puff of black flames, my training is officially done for the moment.
"Huh, I never thought about the group staying together after this is over- I always figured without a common purpose, we'd all just go our separate ways," I tell him, fascinated by the idea of the group actually staying together, "...After smoothing things over with my relatives, I just figured I'd travel the worlds and become a Master- so I don't really need to 'find someone' other than an Apprentice," I laugh, enjoying the concept of 'finding someone'.
Edited by LightChaser
"Hm?" He raised an eyebrow. "I never knew that about you..." He thought about what had happened to her boyfriend..."Well, obtaining keyblade mastery is a good after plan... Would take a lot of your time, and you could your teachings passed on..." He sadly mumbled, "Something to leave behind, huh?"
(Lol, the sequel is going to be about the students, aren't they)
  • Author
"Yeah, exactly!" I exclaim, focusing again on my future plans, "I'll pass on key knowledge, like that light and darkness can exist together, that true peace should be protected, and that all life is precious- my Apprentice is gonna be awesome!"
In my excitement, I take a step back and evaluate it all...I'm fighting for a future, where my friends and my future pupil can live in peace...that, is reason enough for me to fight. I can't help but smile, picturing that future.
((Ooh, you're close xD))
"And..." Ren said shakily "And if you could be so kind... Would you let me help you fulfill you dream?" He looked at her "My father taught me about that equality, and I would love to carry on that wish..."
  • Author
"Of course!" I reply cheerfully, glad Ren is striving for the same future, "Just by fighting the Enforcers, you're already helping my dream become a reality- one day everyone will get to live in peace!"
And when that day comes...I smile again, I just can't wait.
Harumi couldn't sleep. Her mind was still buzzing around with all of this. Enforcers closing in. Her one little secret so close to being found out. "I wonder what my flaw is." She mumbled, "Do I fret too much? Too off-putting?" She sighed, looking up at the sky. Harumi felt lost. She truly felt confused and puzzled by all that was going on, and her mind would randomly pop in thoughts.
Harumi put her head down, her arms wrapped around it. She needed sleep.
