1. Jack 

Time passes fast, and before you know it... everything's changed, and not for the better. 

As we left the cabin behind, Saph now in human form, dark thoughts ran through my heads, twisting like the storm beginning around us. 

" You ok?"

I looked into Saph's beautiful eyes, so deep you could drown... lethal when needed, but kind. 

I held her close, smiling. 

" With you, I'm always ok." 

We kissed in the gently falling snow, then moved on.

" What?! " 

I jumped up and ran over to her, but Saph had fallen asleep again, her wings fluttering feebly.

" What am I going to do with you?" I whispered, stroking her hair gently. 

The sun shone on her face, making the red of her lips stand out; without thinking, I gave her a kiss, as birds gently twittered in the trees at the dawn. 

It was going to be another cool day, snow gently flaking down from... midair?

I look up: the snow wasn't coming from the sky.

It was coming from me.

I was pulled back into my blanket of blackness. I remember I woke up early on my birthday. Mama was at the stove making eggs, bacon, and toast for breakfast. Papa was reading the newspaper and drinking his tea. Tobi was texting on his phone like always. I giggled at papa because he drinks tea and not coffee like Mama and Tobi. I said good morning to Mama, Papa, and Tobi. I kissed their cheeks and asked them if they remembered anything. They said no. I pouted. I asked Tobi to take me to the mall so I can go to Build-A-Bear-Workshop and get me a birthday bear. He did and I got me a pretty tye-dye bear with a few outfits. Tobi was heading home, but we past our house. I asked him where are we going. He said that we are taking a cruse to the ice cream shop for some creamy goodness. Once we got there we got ice cream and we finished and then Tobi got a text he smiled at his phone and picked me up and he buckled me up and we came back home. Tobi opened the door for me, but the house was so dark I couldn't see. I went and turn on the lights and they all popped out and yelled Happy Birthday. We played games. We ate cake. They all watched me open my gifts. Then I fell asleep and Tobi took me to bed and changed me and tucked me in and then handed me my new bear and I fell asleep with a new bear and a good 6 birthday party.

Time passed, the frost over took us both, but we breathed it in like air, thriving on the death rattle air. 

I rose to my feet, needing..... needing...

I took a running, flying into the air like a bat out of Hell itself, flying across the dawn sky in a black blur. 

 

They walked through the frosty morning, his pants covered in snow, her sweater ruffled: two worthless teens no one noticed, probably high school drop outs at that. 

Her lips were red, a garrish and ugly shade that glinted in the morning sun, and his mouth bore the stain of it like fresh blood.

" I can't believe we fell asleep in the greenhouse, Tom. " She giggled, blinking stupidly in the light.

'"Welp, what can ya do, babe?" He said, his voice deeper than I'd expected: 19? 20? 

Didn't matter. 

They turned into the woods, and I took off after them. 

 

 

It was over very quickly: slice, ice, and silence, the red joining the white snow prettily. 

I flew back to Saph, warmed and covered in red.

She seemed so peaceful, sleeping like an angel, her hair glinting in the steadily rising sun. 

I caressed her cheek tenderly, smiling at her.

My fingers left red trails on her white skin.

"Jack?" I sleepily asked. "Where are you?" I said looking around. Then I felt a sharp pain in my back and I screamed a banshee scream. I passed out because of the pain.
