The ship sailed smoothly over the vast sky. The captain was watching over the deck. He was old, almost 69. He was forgetful and cruel, and had a slur in his voice. While some members look upon him with annoyance, animosity, and hatred, the older members remember his glory. The ship reflected that, creaking. Jason didn't remember it's pristine condition, he was too young. He checked the gas, it was low, one of the many things in poor condition. He sighed, and went up above deck. The captain hated him now, lord knows why? He had been nothing but good to him. It annoyed him to the core. He looked around, to find some of his crew mates

Bio: Orphaned at a young age, he lived a street rat for a young age. At 5, he snuck on the ship, and became a crew member due to bring fed up with the lowdown town he lived in. The captains first mate taught him all he needed to live by, becoming a father figure to him.

Caitlyn stared at him. "I came here to be free. My parents died not that long ago. And I ran away from my family. I found your captain and he let me join this crew. If I didn't met him, I probably be dead now". Caitlyn said. "I was so happy that I got here". She looked at him. "I never had so much respect for someone". Caitlyn looked at the captain. The captain nodded to her, that made her smile. "So you are the brain on this ship.. That's nice". Caitlyn said to Jason

"Yea…" he said. "As soon as I'm ready, I'm making my own crew! " he screamed. "Whatever bond I had to this place is gone…he smiled at her. "Wanna join?"

 

Meanwhile, across the sea, a ship made it way over the horizon, with the general at the helm. "I've finally found you, 'scourge of the air'…" He gave the order to open fire.

The cannons hit the ship with a thunderous sound and power, knocking James off his feet.

"Yeah, I will!" 

She fell down when the cannonballs hit the ship. She had luck she didn't fell on the other side because it was a long way down then. "What?!" She yelled when she put her hands on her head to protect it. She looked around her. "What now?" She asked Jason

"We get ready.…" he turned to the other crew members. "Man stations!" The men scurried to the few working guns on the ship. "Let's go!" Jason screamed to Caitlyn. "You can help he asses the damage, and repair if needed!"

Caitlyn got up and did what Jason said. She started to help the others who had a gun in their hands. She had sure they had bullets. Then she saw somebody bleeding on the deck. Caitlyn took his arm and dragged him away. "You're going to be fine!" She said to the man. Then she went back.

"Thanks!" He said to the new girl. "Let's-"

 

Another volley hit the ship, and the ship shifted on its side. "Damn!" He gripped a pice of the floor, as the air knocked him off his feet. "Losing altitude!!! Get someone to stabilize!" Boxes slid down to hit him in the face, but he held on.

 

The captain looked dreadfully at the horizon. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, then nothing. He had passed on."

I watched as papa went on to the afterlife. "PAPA!" I yelled. I took control of the ship and stabilized it. "I will fight until the day I died. I will get your revenge Papa." I said with a hard heart.

Jason regained balance. He saw the other ship.

 

It was out of their league. He saw other men at the ready. "FIRE!" He screamed. No use. His ship was stabilized, but losing altitude. The other ship fired another volley. The engines were blown away by this shot. "WE ARE GOING DOWN!" He screamed." BRACE FOR IMPACT!" Some other crew members couldn't take it, jumping to their death.

 

He felt the wave of wind hit his face as it went down. He saw the forest. Then the trees. Then the ground. He was fulling out of the boat as soon as ground hit.

 

Then it went black.

I saw everybody jumping and falling, but then blackness was all I saw.

He came to. He saw the jungle. The water. The dead bodies. The broken ship. "Hello!?" He screamed. "Anyone still alive?"

-moans and groans-

"Oh my god, you…" he freed her out of the wreckage. He assessed the damage to the body. "Anyone else!?"

-knocked out cold-

Caitlyn woke up. She was really dizzy and couldn't concentrate. Pain went through her body when she tried to move. She looked at her legs. There were under a metal piece of the ship. It was impossible to move. She put her hand on her forehead for a second and then looked at it. Blood. Her head was bleeding. That explains the dizziness. She tried to look around. The only thing she saw were bodies and parts of the ship, some were still burning. Caitlyn lays her head back on the ground and closed her eyes. "Someone..?" She asked really quiet. And then she fell asleep again.

He heard the scream. "I'm coming!" He saw Caitlyn under debris, and attempted to lift her up, and carry her next to the other girl. "…And you make two…" he looked at the others. "Damn…" he went inside the wreckage for medical supplies or weaponry. This was The Deadlands, after all.

Caitlyn looked at Jason but her eyes closed again. "I don't...feel that well". She said to him. Her head hurts like hell. And her legs were numb. 

"Damn…" he came out with a crate. It contained some supplies. That's all he could find for now. "Can you move your legs?" He said slowly, while getting some bandages. Her legs were beat up. Bad.

Caitlyn opened her eyes and shook her head. She couldn't move her legs. Her eyes filled with tears. She tried to hold back. "I'll be fine". She said She looked to the other girl. "Is she alright?" Then Cait's eyes rested on Jason. "Are you alright?"

"Yea…" he lied. His body hurt all over. He sat down on a pice of what used to be the mast. "You can't move them, can you?" He pointed toward the unfortunate girls legs.

She tried again. This time she could move one of her toes. But when she did that her leg started to hurt. She stopped moving it and the pain disappeared again. "I'm not going to try that again!" She looked to the sky. "Are there others who survived?" She asked. Her dizziness started to fade away. 

He pointed to Ruby. "Her… and I'm wondering if that's a miricle or a curse…" he sighed.

He staggered up. "We don't have much time..." He said. "It's gonna be night soon. And we are in the Deadlands, so better get well quick." He took a pocketknife, and cut a stray pice of sail. He placed it on the jungle floor, and put both girls on top. "Doctor used to say to not put injuries on dirt." He got up. "I'll stand watch"

"hehe" Caitlyn said. She felt way better now. Caitlyn eyes rested on Ruby. "If she starts crying after she wakes up, I'll leave". She said with a serious face. 

She sat on the sail. She didn't want to sleep yet so she was just staring at the boy.

"Well, if that girl ever wakes up…" he looked at her. "I wonder if you are para…pear…" he scratched his head. "We'll look for next habitat in the morning."

She lays down and tried to sleep. But the night was pretty cold and that kept her awake. She looked to the stars and the moon. "So beutiful". Caitlyn said. Then she fell asleep.
