"Hello viewers, and get ready for the first season of the most intense virtual reality competition ever to be shown on television, Fandom Fighters! In mere moments, eleven contestants will be sent into "The Funbox", where they will compete to be this season's champion, and win the grand prize, a small fortune! For now, the players will be split into two teams, Heroes and Villains, with the exception of one. who will be selected at random. This competitor will instead be transferred to the first team to lose a member, ensuring that they won't be in last place. And now to see who that will be!"

 

The pictures of the avatars the eleven competitors were using appeared on screen and started spinning, until stopping with Gimli on the front of the screen.

 

"Congratulations Gimli, you will be brought into the competition once someone is eliminated. And now, it's time for the competition to begin!"

 

The screen went dark, followed by a desert populated only by two three-story buildings appearing on screen. The buildings looked identical, except that one was black, while one was white. On the roof of each building, there were five people. On the black building was Xigbar, Darth Vader, Maleficent, Assassin, and Madoka Kaname. On the white building was Gambit, Beatrix, Byakuya Kuchiki, Dean Winchester, and Asura. All of them were looking around, taking in their surroundings. The two buildings were close enough where the two teams could see each other. Suddenly a voice began to speak.

 

"Hello there challengers. are you ready for the challenges ahead of you? Probably not, but that's okay. For now, you have been divided into two teams. Those on the white building are the Heroes, and those on the black building are the Villains. In order to progress, you must get through all three floors of the building you're standing in, and meet up with the other team. Oh, and by the way, you don't have to work together if you don't want to, bu doing so will make things easier. Also, no trying to elimenate each other yet. That comes later. Good luck, and have fun!"

 

The door at the top of each building opened up, revealing stairs that went down into the top floor.

Assassin and his shadows looked at them. He smiled at his new comrades. "Hello…" he said to them all. He couldn't wait to cut them up…

 

Asura clenched his fist, looking at the others. He was never good at talking. "Just wait…" he said to himself "I'll get that money. Don't worry."

Gambit grinned mischievously. Finally, he could show the world, not to mention a few girls, his skills. He walked to the open door and turned towards his teammates, "Well, we might as well get started."

 

Beatrix looked around nervously. She was suddenly getting second thoughts about joining the competition, but did her best to ignore them. [After all,] she thought, [there's no point in turning back now.]

 

Maleficent was nervous, but didn't want to show it. [i can't let the others think I'm weak.] she thought, so she began laughing out loud. "You think your little introduction can scare me?" She shouted at the sky, "You'll have to do better than that!" [i hope that worked.] she thought.

 

"Um... hello to you too." Xigbar responded to Assassin. He couldn't really think of anything else to say. [How can one guy do that?] he wondered, the gears in his head turning in an attempt to figure out the answer.

 

Darth Vader turned towards the other four people nearby, "Fellow teammates, we may be competing against each other, but for now I think we should work together, like the man said. After all, something tells me we'll have to face off with the other team soon enough." He said. He decided to try his luck gaining his teammates respect as a leader, that way they'll like him enough to where they'd want to keep him around, at least for a little while. He wasn't sure if it would work, but he wanted to try it.

"I'll gather Intel." Assassin said, leaving. He snapped, and two of his shadows left, turning invisible.

"Not now..." Said Asura to Gambit. "Too risky."

Gambit scratched his head. "Then what do you propose that we do? Just stand here till we die of boredom?" he asked Asura.

 

The room Assassin walked into was pitch black, save for the number three glowing in the distance, witch changed to a two when Assassin walked in. Xigbar, not wanting to be left behind, followed him, and the number went down to one.

"Well." He sighed. "Not much to do here…" he sat on the ground.

The one named Byakuya sighed, "Are any of you going to create some plan?" He asked, giving them a glance, "If not, then either I will create one of I will take my leave. The announcer did not say we had to work together...and my avatar is of a person who rarely works in groups." Byakuya looked at the other 'Heroes' displayed before him, giving a bored look.

"Well..." Asura sighed "That assassin, isint he cheating? He spawned two people..." He sighed "what is he from…"

"Well..." Asura sighed "That assassin, isint he cheating? He spawned two people..." He sighed "what is he from…"

"I have absolutely no idea." Gambit responded. "Probably from some sort of anime. Well, I'm going down. After all, I don't see any point in just sitting here." Gambit went down the stairs into a dark room, where a number three changed to the number two.

Dean was relieved at having been assigned to the heroes team. Admittedly, he'd been a little unsure of where he'd be put. With a questionable past, he was lucky they had headed his request. Dean was a natural born leader, but he wasn't sure if this was the right situation to take control. The last thing he needed was a bunch of people hating him if he made the wrong choice. He could win, but he had to play his cards right, so for the moment he stayed silent. He wouldn't abandon the group, but it was best to form bonds in private. It was the best way to get his "teammates" to like him.  

 

Madoka was a little shocked at her team assignment, but she certainly wasn't going to complain. It was time to begin sizing up her opponents. To her dismay, it looked like the heroes were getting along fairly well. She wasn't sure that she could say the villains were getting along quite as well. She suspected they'd turn on each other in a heartbeat. Though she was naturally timid, Madoka knew it wasn't the time to bow her head and let others do all of the talking. "It looks like the heroes team is already beginning to move. If we don't want to get ambushed, we should probably do the same."

"Um, h-hi ther" Beatrix said to Dean. "Do you think we should go inside?. I think I saw someone else already go in, but I don't want to walk in there by myself. Do you want to come with me?" 

 

"I do believe you're right, madam." Darth Vader said to Madoka. "We should probably get inside before the other team advances too far." He then walked over to the door and opened for Madoka. "Are you coming?" He asked.

Asura looked at the room. "Are you sure about that?" He pointed to the counters. "Form the look of it, it might be a three person battle…"

 

Assassins shadows had seen the conversation. Assassin looked at xigbar. "The other chamber will have Gambit, dean, and some dwarf… all in all, easy pickings."

Dean smiled disarmingly at Beatrix. She was probably just a kid, and helping out a kid would be much easier than plotting to kill one, even if it was merely a game. "Sure. I'm Dean. Nice to meet you, Beatrix." He walked over to the door with a confident stride, hoping his attitude would help her to relax. In the end, it was just a game, and it should be played to have fun and make friends. 

 

"Yeah, I'm coming." Madoka blushed, having been a little to slow to respond. Her eyes had wandered to the heroes' team once more. When the game neared the end, she could justify killing characters she'd grown up thinking were evil, but killing heroes? Characters that she completely admired? Madoka's stomach churned, and while she was desperate to win, she really didn't want to hurt her childhood idols. She tore her eyes from the heroes' building and jogged over to the door. 

As Dean walked into the room, Beatrix followed, and the number went down from two to zero. The voice of the anouncer could be heard from the roof of the white building, where Asura and Bayakuya still stood.

 

"I suggest you go down there and help your friends, they may need it. Besides, you don't want to be short on teammates once you face the other team. Of course, the choice is yours."

 

As Madoka went inside, the number changed from one to zero. Darth Vader followed her, as did Maleficent, since she didn't want to follow behind, leaving the roof to the black building free of challengers. The door locked behind them.

 

In both rooms, the voice of the announce could be heard, "Welcome, to your first challenge, contestants. Now, this first one isn't really much, more like a way to get used to combat, really. But don't worry, harder challenges will come. All you have to do is defeat the five combat drones in the room. They're unarmed, but have quite the right hook! I sugest you stay focused as you fight them. Once all of the robots in your room are defeated, you may progress to the next floor, where you'll face another challenge. The first team to complete all three floors first gets a special bonus, so I hope you're ready to give it your all!"

 

Suddenly, the lights went on in both rooms, revealing five human-shaped robots with glowing eyes. All at once, the robots began charging.

Asura rushed upstairs, and joined his teammates.

 

Assassin snapped his fingers, and two huge shadows appeared. They rushed at one , and proceed to pound one into gravel

Byakuya sighed and stepped into the room where the other Heroes were waiting, the wide-open room with several drones. This 'drones' (Or androids rather) were human like, with red glowing eyes; being the most threatening part about them.

Byakuya wasn't threatened in the least. These things were beneath him. At least, his avatar. "Why not pool all of our attacks into one? Should take all these drones out in one blast."

Dean was thrilled. Finally it was time to fight--not only did he enjoy showing off, but pounding his worries into a robot was rather therapeutic. He cracked his knuckles for show and threw his first punch. His fist ached from slamming into the robot, but the adrenaline rush was beginning to kick in, which numbed the pain. Sure, he had a weapon, but dodging and wailing on robots would hopefully terrify his teammates. They'd want to keep him around as long as possible. 

 

Madoka's arms were shaking, but she tried to ignore the fear pounding through her. It's just a game, she thought. Just a game, don't be afraid. It's not real.

 

Madoka let her teammates do most of the fighting. She helped from afar, shooting arrows at the robots. She was shocked by how accurate she was. Outside of the game, she'd never shot a bow and arrow before. Madoka's skills must have carried over. She stayed close to the wall and out of her teammates' way. 

Asura rushed at one, growing his arms, and grabbing in the robot that dean was on. Using his strength, he yanked the arms, legs, and head of the android Clean off. The faster he did this, the more time his sister would be with him, and out of that hospital.

The door locked behind Asura and Byakuya. Gambit pulled out a hand of cards, which began glowing pink. He then threw the cards strait at one of the androids (thanks for the correction Silver) greatly damaging it. Beatrix then cut off it's head, destroying it.

 

Meanwhile, in the black building, Xigbar was able to shoot down one of the androids, weakening it, while Darth Vader finished it off. "Impressive shooting Xigbar!" Darth commented.

 

Maleficent used her fire attacks to utterly melt one of the other androids, laughing all the while. "Is that all you can throw at us, Mr game master? Ha!"

Dean reveled in the pleasure of destroying something. With each android he beat into his fists grew redder, but his adrenaline levels spiked, spurring him on. He felt strong and in control--two things he lacked outside of the virtual arena. Once the robots had been completely destroyed, Dean's shoulders dropped and he immediately wished they'd send in more. In this game, he was stronger than he'd ever been, and it was an ability he'd want to use as long as possible. His adrenaline levels slowly returned to normal, allowing him to feel the throbbing pain in his fists. He was lucky he hadn't punctured his own skin. Bleeding out would been the worst way to lose the game. 

 

Madoka didn't feel like she'd helped her team much in the fight, but she had to admit that she felt better already. As the game began, she was so scared she'd barely been able to think straight. Now that she realized that--at least for the beginning of the game--she had a competent team that could do an excellent job teaching her, she could finally relax. In the end, whether she won or lost, it was still just a game. She was going to make friends and survive, and never let that crippling fear control her again.
