It's impossible to contain a long running franchise to a single console.

It would be silly to make Kingdom Hearts games for a dead console, so Square chooses the console that suits their needs. If a game isn't that important to the plot, they can develop it on a cheaper system (A handheld)

oh thanks for clearing that

It would be great because I could be able to play all the games.

And i think its just stupid to release just one game for a single system, I mean if there was someone who wanted to play all the games they would need a PS2, GBA, DS, PSP, 3Ds, and particular cell phone that could hold a KH game.

If there was for some reason that Nomura had to put some games on a handheld system why the heck would he need to put it on more. Why not just release Birth by Sleep and Days on the same system

It's not like Nomura himself decides everything.

And when it comes down to it, the system a game comes out on is determined by the games budget, and target audience.

Days, for example, came out for the DS because it didn't have a particularly high budget.

Re:Coded is aimed at casual gamers, the DS has a higher casual audience, and Coded wasn't a complex game in the first place.

Birth By Sleep had a higher budget, but Square would need to spend a lot of money on HD graphics for the PS3, so Square assumed that most owners of s PS2 would have a PSP, and at least a few fans would buy a PSP just for BBS. Birth By Sleep was bult as a successor to KH2, unlike other games, which featured hampered gameplay. The similarity between a PS2 and a PSP allowed for similar development with graphics, animation and gameplay.

Chain of Memories was created when there was a huge demand for a handheld KH, Nomura didn't actually want to do it.

KH 3D has a similar story to BBS, the handheld has more power than the PSP, but would still allow the same quality of graphics as seen on the PS2 games. This time it combines the desire for quality of BBS with the large market for the DS.

Everything KH related info is from interviews, the information about demographics I got from assorted articles pertaining to the respective systems.
