Another ordinary day of school. Kurenai was walking home, deciding to go on her own. Having friends for a change was nice, but she wanted time to think. I need to find the right person to help me with... She was cut off after accidentally bumping into someone, ending up knocked over in the process. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" She apologized, pulling herself up. The man glared at her, and continued on his way. Ugh, people these days... I'll never find who I'm looking for. I hope he's had at least some luck by now...

"Heh, you're letting me move first? You've got guts, kid. I like that." Blue Ape held his fist back, and it began to glow red. He charged towards Hayate, preparing for a powerful punch attack.

Hayate stood his ground and brought up both his arms. "Iron Wall!" He cried, activating his ability just into time for the Ape's punch to land hard, the punch not powerful enough to strike through his powerful barrier that is.

Hayate stood his ground and brought up both his arms. "Iron Wall!" He cried, activating his ability just into time for the Ape's punch to land hard, the punch not powerful enough to strike through his powerful barrier that is.

Blue Ape laughed. "Good, you've got a great defense. I'll still need to see your offensive capabilities, though." He jumped behind Hayate, and tried kicking his legs to knock him off balance.

"Anything goes. My mom works a late shift tonight, so if you wanna teach me the features of this thing, we have time now, but I can wait till tomorrow, too." He thought.

Hm... I think it would be best to wait until tomorrow. That way, we can have more fun with it. She smirked again. So... we'll meet here, tomorrow at 6. Hopefully, we'll find those jerks in time to test this out. She reached for her neuro linker, but stopped her hand. Oh, and one more thing. Don't connect to the global net. Trust me, you'll regret it otherwise. She ended the link, unplugged her end of the cord.

"I don't use this thing unless I have to, anyway." Jamie replied right before the connection was cut, standing up and turning the Nerolinker off. "Not hard to meet, I live here." he replied, stretching his arms,

The green clad boy jumped over Ape's kick and brought his own legs out to dropkick Ape in the face, backflipping and landing back on his feet with expert precision. "You'll find that those capabilites are great as well," Hayate said.

(oh geez i'm so late on this)

"I don't use this thing unless I have to, anyway." Jamie replied right before the connection was cut, standing up and turning the Nerolinker off. "Not hard to meet, I live here." he replied, stretching his arms,

"Heh, good." Kurenai smiled. "See you tomorrow, then." She stood up, and left Jaime's apartment. That went much better than I'd expected. She thought to herself. She left the building, and returned to her home.

The green clad boy jumped over Ape's kick and brought his own legs out to dropkick Ape in the face, backflipping and landing back on his feet with expert precision. "You'll find that those capabilites are great as well," Hayate said.

Despite Cadmium's attacks, Ape still stood firmly, unfazed by the level 4 Burst Linker's attacks. "Yes, they really are great." If they had been meeting with each other face to face, Ape would be grinning right now. He stopped for a moment, seemingly remembering something. "Hey, I've got to head off. I just remembered, I've got an important meeting. We'll meet here tomorrow at 7, if that works for you. See you later!" He leaped away, seemingly agile, despite his enormous build.

Within a few minutes, Ape had reached a large castle. The Palace of the Kings... Hope I wasn't late for the meeting. He thought to himself as he entered. He reached a large room, with a large table in the center. He took a seat at a large throne at an end of the table, surrounded by four other Kings. "I apologize for being so late. I was held up by other matters."

"Hmph. Your duties as King come first. If you're going to refuse to work with the rest of us, you'll be evicted from the peace treaty, you know." A man in green armor snapped at Ape.

"Oh, calm down, Green!" A woman in pink armor responded. "What's life without a little fun, right? I say we let it slide for Blue here." Despite her kind words, she held a slight sadistic tone in her voice.

"Pink's got a point, you know. At least Blue didn't completely ditch like another one of us..." The Yellow King glanced at an empty red throne. "That's the second meeting in a row, now. She's asking for trouble..." He sighed.

The Black King remained silent, insisting on watching the other Kings discuss matters with one another. Ape was thankful that only one King seemed to be against him. He also took note of the Red King's absence. "Hm... I do wonder where she went..."

"Oh, why don't you tell us yourself? You're always acting so flirtatious with her, I'm sure that you've got tabs on her all the time." The Green King retorted, insulting the Blue King.

"Heh, I'm not a stalker. I prefer to get women with my own skills, not by stalking them around until they cave in." Ape laughed. "Anyway, enough of this... Let's get back to the original topic, shall we?" He asked, seemingly curious. "I seem to have been left in the dark on the subject of the meeting."

"We were planning to discuss next month's tournament." Pink answered Ape. "We're going over the final plan one last time before we begin the preparations."

"Right." Ape responded. "So, what all have you come up with? Last I checked, you were in in charge of the planning, Pink." He eyed her.

"Yes, I am." The Pink King nodded. "You see... It's going to be like a typical tournament. We'll limit it to 16 entrants. There will be four different rounds, as well. The level limit will be 6. The winner will earn a total of 100 Burst Points. It will be held at the Pink Territory's central arena. Of course... There's more to it than that."

"More to it? What do you mean?" Ape leaned in more curious now.

"While the tournament will obviously be held as normal, it's going to hold a second meaning... You see, all of us will gather the strongest members of our legions, and bring them with under the guise of spectators... When the tournament has ended, we'll take advantage of the fact that all six Kings will have gathered together... And kill the Red King." There was an eerie silence in the room.

"... This was agreed on by the entire assembly?" Ape broke the silence.

"All but you and Red, of course." Yellow answered. "The majority wins."

"But... Is there any other way?" Ape grimaced. "That would lead to war with the Red legion..."

"We're aware. That's why we have the strongest members of our legions joining us." Green answered. "We'll quickly snuff them out. After all, five legions against one? It won't even be a competition."

"If we kill Crim, it'll ruin the balance of the six Kings..." Ape kept grasping for excuses.

"Look, Blue. We know you don't want to do this. However, she's irresponsible as a King. She's missed two meetings in a row, and that's not the first time..." Green sighed. "She doesn't have the same ideals as the rest of us, either. It's best that we execute her and the rest of the Red Legion with her. We intend on setting members of our legions near Red territory as well, and then destroying everyone in that region. After all, five is much more balanced than four."

"But..." Ape began to speak, but was cut off.

"We're done discussing this matter." Green glared at Blue. "Pink will be the one to execute the Red King. After we eliminate their legion, we'll all decide who gets that land. Everyone, you are dismissed." He stood, along with everyone except for Blue Ape. The other Kings all left, leaving Ape all alone.

I knew they'd do this... I've got to warn her... He left the room, trying not to seem in a hurry. She's got to be at the meeting place soon, right...? He ran off.

The next day...

Kurenai stood in line to get food at the school cafeteria. Her friends were busy that day, leaving her alone. Hm... I wonder if Jaime goes to this school...? She looked around, trying to spot the boy. While doing so, She noticed a scrawny boy, sitting all alone at his table. Feeling bad for the boy, she decided to sit at his table. "You don't mind if I sit here, do you...?" She asked. The boy shook his head, and she sat down. "Hey, are you okay?" She asked, taking note of how upset he looked.

"Y-yeah..." He muttered.

"Okay..." Kurenai sighed. "Oh, by the way, I'm Kurenai. What's your name?" She asked.

"H-Haseo..." He spoke timidly.

(Holy crap this was a way longer post than I'd anticipated... I think it's my longest RP post ever.)

"Nice to meet you, Haseo." she grinned. Hm... If I had noticed him before, I'd have probably given him Brain Burst...

"N-nice to meet you too, Kurenai." He studied her a bit, noticing that she seemed distant. The two sat together in silence for a time, keeping to themselves...

The next day at school, Hayate went to eat at the cafeteria for his lunch break. He sat on a table by himself, and ate by himself, as crowds of some of his annoying female classmates swooned over him from a distance, while some males students were either glaring at him or trying not to look at him at all.

While he was eating, Hayate noticed as a young girl his aged walked by his table as she went to sit down with another boy. She caught his eye, but for some reason, he couldn't explain why. She's one of the more reserved girls at this school... so maybe she knows about Brain Burst... Hayate thought. He figured a girl that wasn't so beneath integrity to fall to pieces based on his looks was strong enough to be a Burst Linker.

Kurenai had an odd feeling... Someone's watching me... She looked over at a table near hers, noticing a boy staring at her. That's the school's pretty boy, isn't it...? Odd that he's staring at someone like me when he's surrounded by all those other girls. She continued eating, then a thought crossed her mind. Hm... Wait, what if he's a Burst Linker as well...? It's rare to see a guy like him get so many girls like that...

Hayate looked a away from a moment when he noticed the girl was looking back. He stared as this food tray as he thought: Maybe I should just go ask her... but what if she's not one of them? Then I'd just be wasting my time. And maybe she's not as level-headed as I thought and she tries to flirt with me... Hayate finished his food and looked back at her. I guess there's only one way to find out. He said, as he threw his tray away and starting walking in her direction.

Kurenai noticed that the boy was walking over to her. Oh, great... Looks like he's going to try something out on me. And while all these other girls are watching, too... Kurenai blushed a bit, realizing what this would cause between her and the entire school. This won't end well... She sighed, and kept a straight face. She avoiding making eye contact, figuring that would make things worse. Instead, she continued eating.

Hayate stopped in front of Kurenai's table, looking composed and hands in his pockets.

"Excuse me... do you mind if I ask you something?" He said, his tone casual and his face straight even though he was fighting back the urge to frown; now that he was talking to another female student, of course his "fanclub" was getting jealous and he could hear them rant from a mile away. Still, he kept his focus on the girl with red hair in front of him.

Oh, great, I knew it... Should I just tell him that I'm taken...? "Of course. What is it?" She asked, retaining her straight face. She heard the other girls talk about her, and was forced to barely resist an urge to punch them all in the face.

Kurenai's eyes widened. The boy across the table from her seemed to perk up, too. So, I was right... He's a Burst Linker, too... Should I play stupid? If he learns about me, I'm doomed... She cleared her thoughts. "If you plan on battling me, I advise that you try to find another target. I'm a lot more powerful than you might think." She tried to pull a bluff. Of course, she wasn't exactly lying, either. "Unless you want to lose Burst Points, that is..." She prepared, in case the boy sent her a battle request.

Haseo sat silently, but his mind was racing. There are really others here at school...? I should keep quiet. Can't let them find out who I am.

"Calm down. I wasn't going to ask to fight," Hayate said, his eyes bearing a little bit of annoyance now. "I'm saving my strength for something much more important anyway. I was just curious," Hayate looked off to the side as he spoke now, as if he was rolling his eyes. "Besides... I don't think I'd be interested in fighting a girl."

Kurenai was preparing for a response, when she heard Hayate's remark about girls. "What was that?" She glared at the boy. "If you knew who I was in the game, you'd be terrified right about now!"

Haseo scoffed, instantly regretting it. Oh crap, I shouldn't have done that...

Kurenai looked back at Haseo. "What's so funny?" She quickly realized that if he found their conversation entertaining, he knew what they were talking about, too. "Wait... So... You're one, too...?"

Haseo straightened up in fear. "I-I don't know what you're talking about! I was just laughing because... Um... I'm reading something on my Neuro Linker!" Crap!

Hayate was not threatened by Kurenai's anger, but he did sort of admire it. So she's really not like the others after all.

He let a small smile escape from his lips as he looked back at Kurenai. "I like you. I can tell that you'll be a strong opponent," his smile quickly vanished. "But like I said, I have something important I have to do. So it can't be soon... however, let me tell you what that important thing is," he turned around to walk away, his back turned to Kurenai and Haseo. "There's a Brain Burst tournament coming up next month. I'll be entering. And if you want to fight me," He turned his head to meet eyes with Kurenai.

"Then we'll fight there. Oh, and that goes for you, too," Hayate was speaking to Haseo. He was able to see through his lies very easily. The cool headed teen then walked away completely without saying another word.

The tournament... Kurenai paused to think. "Hey, wait a minute!" She ran over to Hayate. "The tournament, you say...?" She was clearly interested. "Well, sorry to disappoint you... But I can't really enter the tournament." She answered. "Of course... if you'd like, I could help you train for it." I know I've got one person on our side already, but another wouldn't hurt... "I'm sure I've got a lot more experience than you do, anyway."

"I can't enter, either..." Kurenai turned around, noticing Haseo had followed them. "If i did enter, then it would be unfair for everyone else." He smirked.

Kurenai looked puzzled. "Unfair... So, what makes you so powerful, then? Unless you're a King, it shouldn't be a problem."

"Heh, I just don't want to make everyone upset when I wipe the floor with them. Besides, you're also talking about being unable to join. What's up with that?" Haseo snapped back.

"I've got something else to do that day..." She began to say, when Haseo cut her off.

"When you accelerate, the world around you practically freezes. Unless you've got a special date in-game or something, time shouldn't matter."

"Okay, okay, fine." Kurenai sighed. "My Legion master told me that I wasn't allowed to join the tournament. The reasons are top-secret, though..."

Hayate observed the exchange between Haseo and Kurenai, then decided to speak again.

"Help me train you say? I'm going to have to think that over," Hayate said. Given Kurenai's resolve, he had a feeling that maybe she was trying too hard to prove that she's strong. He could really tell even if she didn't, but still, Hayate had a habit of underestimating people based on his own strength alone. And Haseo... even though Hayate was not intimidated by him, he still had an urge to fight him as well.

"You seem to be pretty confident. Why don't you and I have a match then?" Hayate challenged. Secretly, Haseo was giving off a vibe that his older brothers used to give off, and he didn't like it. At all.

Haseo's eyes widened. "W-well... Um... I..." He tried to make a run for it, but a group of kids at another table were in his way. I'm screwed... "A-are you really sure you want to fight me...? You'll, um... Lose all your Burst Points if you lose! And I assure you that you will!"

Kurenai eyed Haseo curiously. "What happened to acting so brave earlier, kid?"

Haseo's face went pale. "I... I'm not all that strong in the real world... That's why in Brain Burst, well..." Ugh, there's no way for me to get out of this one, is there...? He opened his Brain Burst menu, and looked at all players on the school network. Cadmium Limit and Cyan Swan... "W-wait!" He looked at the two other Burst Linkers in front of him. "Y-you're... No way..."

Hayate could sense that his reputation was following him quite well. And he wasn't talking about his reputation in school; during his time in Brain Burst, he had actually caught the eye of several other players. He would hear people whisper about him as he roamed the Brain Burst maps, never really paying attention to what they were saying. Still, he still knew his strength was being acknowledged, and that's all that mattered. It seems that Haseo was one of those people.

Hayate did not say anything further however. He was waiting for Haseo to reveal who he was in order for Kurenai to acknowledge him as well.

Haseo tried to back away. "I have to get to class..." He let out a nervous chuckle, but was stopped by Kurenai. "Hold it. We've still got time. Now then..." She pulled up her Brain Burst menu, and read the two names on it. "Cadmium Limit...? Hm... I've heard quite a bit about you. I'm not quite sure which of you that is, though." She read the other name, and felt her pulse stop for a moment. "That explains why you can't enter the tournament, Haseo..."

Haseo tried to run off again, but Kurenai gripped his arm. "Let go of me!"

"Never thought that we went to the same school... Blue." She smirked at the squirming boy. "Compared to your in-game avatar, you're pretty... unimpressive."

"And you look about how I'd imagined, Cy..." Haseo teased back, despite seeming upset that he'd been figured out.

Hayate examined the exchange between the two.

"You two seem to know each other very well," Hayate commented. "Also, yes, it is true. I am Cadmium Limit," he added, trying to steer the focus back into his direction.

Kurenai looked fairly impressed. "I'm surprised that there are two other powerful Burst Linkers here at this school." She shifted her gaze between Hayate and Haseo. "I'm also surprised you didn't seem shocked when you heard that Haseo here is Blue."

Haseo sighed. "Do you really have to rub it in, Cy?" He asked. "It's probably best that he doesn't know what you meant by that..."
