Another ordinary day of school. Kurenai was walking home, deciding to go on her own. Having friends for a change was nice, but she wanted time to think. I need to find the right person to help me with... She was cut off after accidentally bumping into someone, ending up knocked over in the process. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" She apologized, pulling herself up. The man glared at her, and continued on his way. Ugh, people these days... I'll never find who I'm looking for. I hope he's had at least some luck by now...

Kurenai looked fairly impressed. "I'm surprised that there are two other powerful Burst Linkers here at this school." She shifted her gaze between Hayate and Haseo. "I'm also surprised you didn't seem shocked when you heard that Haseo here is Blue."

Haseo sighed. "Do you really have to rub it in, Cy?" He asked. "It's probably best that he doesn't know what you meant by that..."

"I'm not concerned with other people's reputations. I only wish to grow stronger," Hayate said.

"So, you really don't care, Cadmium?" Kurenai asked. "Not even if the person in question is one of the Kings?" She smirked at Haseo again, who backed away a bit more again.

"D-don't tell anyone about the real me, Cy!" Haseo looked embarrassed.

"Whatever you say, Blue." She was still smiling.

"Blue King..." Hayate said, looking once more at the frail boy before him. "Hmph. Sorry. But I don't care for titles. I care for skill," Hayate responded.

"The Kings are all the most skilled players in the Accelerated World, right?" Kurenai replied. "Meaning that Blue here's pretty strong, too."

"You seemed to think differently when we met up last night, Cadmium..." Haseo looked a bit dejected.

Hayate then realized exactly who he was talking too. "Wait... you're Blue Ape? The one I fought with the other night?" Hayate said, now showing a little shock on his face for the first time.

Haseo nodded. "Yeah, that's me... I never thought I'd meet either one of you in a place like this." He sighed. He lit up for a moment. "Oh, Cy! The meeting last night..." He looked shaky. "Th-they ordered that we execute Crim..."

Kurenai felt her energy drain. She used a table to keep her balance. "We have to stop them..."

"Already coming up with a plan." Haseo nodded. He looked at Hayate. "He might be able to help."

"Wait, execution? Kings?" Hayate said, confused. "What's going on? What are you two talking about?"

"Wait, execution? Kings?" Hayate said, confused. "What's going on? What are you two talking about?"

"Well... You know about the six Kings, right?" Haseo asked Hayate. "We hold meetings to discuss important matters. I can't tell you much, but... They plan on executing the Red King soon." He sighed. Kurenai had a terrified look in her eyes. "You see... Kurenai here is, um..." He stopped to think for a moment. "She's one of my most trusted legion members. The Red King's one of our close friends. We need to come up with a plan to stop them..."

"I see." Hayate was certainly taking in a lot of information, and honestly, it surprised him. Last night, all Hayate had to worry about was training with Haseo (or Blue Ape rather) and winning a tournament. Now it turns out he is one of the Six Kings and this red haired girl was associated with them as well.

"Hmph. Power corrupts, does it not?" Hayate said. "Even when we have players in Brain Burst that are powerful enough to have their own special titles and regions of land... all it does is cause mistrust and murder..." Hayate thought back to his childhood; how his brothers would always pick on him, but even as they did, they among themselves couldn't even get along. They fought with each other almost as much as they fought against Hayate. It was then that Hayate found himself reaching a new understanding of the so called Six Kings.

"Listen..." Hayate got closer to the two others. "I've just decided... that I want to end the reigns of all Six Kings in Brain Burst. And that includes you as well."

Haseo sighed. "Hm... So, you're not on our side, then?" He looked over to Kurenai, trying to decide what to do. "If he's not with us, what do we do? He could report to one of the other Kings..."

"If he's against us, then we'll make sure he keeps quiet." Kurenai continued studying Hayate.

"Let me finish..." Hayate said, raising his voice a tad in order to silence the two before him. "I am willing to aid you in whatever mission you're planning... however, in exchange I want you, and the other Kings to break off from one another. So that there will be no more hierarchy to speak off in the world of Brain Burst."

Kurenai and Haseo looked at each other for a moment. Kurenai turned back to Hayate. "Look... You don't understand the situation with the Kings. We'd tell you, but it's classified information, for only the Kings to know..."

Haseo nodded. "You can't know the whole situation. However, we'll need your help. If you don't join us, that's fine."

"Wait... You're not a King, so how do you even know all this?" Hayate asked, pinning his eyes to Kurenai.

Kurenai blushed. "Um, well... Heh... Y-you see..."

"I told her." Haseo butted in, keeping a straight face. "She's my closest legion member. I needed to tell someone."

Kurenai looked at Haseo, seemingly surprised. He really saved me this time... She sighed in relief. "H-he's r-right..."

"Hmm..." Hayate slightly glared at Kurenai for a second. "Alright then... so, tell me, what's your plan to save the Red King?"

Kurenai continued to stutter. "W-well, um..." She looked around frantically. "A-ask him, not me!" She pointed to Haseo nervously.

Haseo sighed. Really not helping, Cy. "I'm still coming up with a plan, here... We'll need to keep her away from next month's tournament. We'll also need to bring a decently sized army from Blue Legion and Red Legion, before war breaks out. That's likely going to happen." He glanced around.

"If she stays away, then she'll be outlawed, anyway!" Kurenai shouted back at Haseo. She went silent for a moment. "Er... Sorry." She blushed again.

"Don't worry, Cy. I've got a specific plan for Crim that I'll let you in on." He said, ignoring Hayate. Kurenai nodded in response.

"Good..." She tightened a fist, trying to keep calm.

"Anyway... If they realize she doesn't show up, they'll need time to plan out some other way to kill her..."

"Or they'll kill you on the spot, since you're the second closest Burst Linker to her." Kurenai bit her lip.

"R-right..." Haseo sighed. "We'll also need to prepare the Red Legion troops for battle. They plan on sending the combined forces of the other Legions to Red territory to finish them off. I'll have my Legion help out too, of course. Aside from that... I still need time to think. I just learned, I'm still piecing everything together..." He answered.

Hayate listened well. "I understand. I will provide any sort of help that I am able to give. My talents range from more than fighting after all," Hayate said.

Haseo nodded. "Good. We'll need you. I know your skills at least a little bit, and you'll definitely be useful to us." He smiled a bit. Kurenai, however, was still biting her lip and clenching a fist. A bell rang, making Haseo jumped. "Looks like break's over... We'll meet here when school gets out, okay?" He looked around at the group. "See you later." He dashed off for class, trying not to be late.

Kurenai slowly nodded. "Right..." She tried to compose herself. "Well... I'll see you later, um..." She realized they'd never formally introduced each other. "I-I'm Kurenai."

"Hayate. Hayate Mori," the composed teen said. sticking a hand out for Kurenai to shake.

"Nice to meet you, Hayate..." Kurenai shook Hayate's hand, gripping a little too tight. "I-I've got to go, now... Bye." She let go of the boy's hand, and quickly walked out of the cafeteria.

"Hmm..." Hayate himself had a strong grip, and Kurenai's grip wasn't that much stronger, but it was definitely stronger than Hayate had imagined. Kurenai... Hayate looked in Kurenai's direction as she sped off and for a breif moment, he smirked. You really aren't like the others. Good. He said, as he lost his smirk and walked out the cafeteria as well, a horde of girls getting jealous at seeing Kurenai getting to touch his hand.

After school got out for the day, Haseo and Kurenai immediately met in the cafeteria. The two took a table for themselves and Hayate, whenever he got there. Kurenai seemed to have calmed down a bit now, to the point where she was actually willing to talk. "Alright... I'll need Cyan Swan as my guard for the tournament. That way, you can stay close in case anything happens. Are you able to do that?" Haseo asked Kurenai.

Kurenai nodded. "Yeah... I'll do that. What are we going to do with Hayate?"

"I'll explain that when he gets here." Haseo calmly stated.

Hayate entered the cafeteria, and briskly made his way to Kurenai's and Haseo's table as soon as he saw them. However, he was stopped on his way by a hulking boy and two of his "lackeys" who blocked him from sitting down.

"Hey Mori!" The leader yelled right in Hayate's face. "You and I got something to settle!"

"Oh? From what?" Hayate asked casually.

"From nothing! I just wanna beat your smug little ass! Hahaha!" The bully said, already loading and shooting a punch towards Hayates face.

Hayate did not flinch and caught the larger boy's hand with ease. The bully struggled in his grip. "What the... what the hell are you?!" He cried, as Hayate simply grabbed his arms with both hands and flipped him over his shoulder onto another table. The bully was stunned and so were his cronies who didn't even put up a fight and run off with their tails between their legs.

As girls swooned and guys cheered (or jeered), Hayate brushed himself off and sat down with Kurenai and Haseo. "So then... do we have a plan?"

Haseo and Kurenai were both amazed by Hayate's fight with the bully. Heh... That had to be Brain Burst in action. Kurenai smirked. "Yeah, Haseo's got something worked out."

"R-right..." Haseo was a little scared by the whole incident. "So... I've decided that we'll have Cyan Swan remain near me as my guard. That way, she can join in in case a fight starts." He looked towards Kurenai, who nodded. "As for you... You'll enter the tournament, as we'd originally planned. From what I understand, the winner will be congratulated by the Kings themselves. That's probably when they'd intend on executing the Red King, since they'd have everyone's attention. I know how they work; they'd want to make an example out of her." He shuddered. "If you're up there with us, we have another person who can guard me in case they switch their targets, and you can help if there's a battle."

"You're saying we have him join in the battle with the Kings? There's no way he'd stand a chance, he's only level 4!" Kurenai shouted.

"We've got a month." Haseo grinned. "I'll train him."

"I will be ready to face whatever lies ahead," Hayate said confidently. "Also... that little exchange you just saw." Hayate assumed that both Kurenai and Haseo thought he used Burst Link to dispatch of those bullies. "I did not use Burst Link. Like I've said, my skills lie beyond the world of Brain Burst... which means I am capable of many things in both the game and reality."
