Drakengard series?

I recently discovered these set of games. I didn't do too much research, but I was wondering if it would be worth buying the games? Right now, I'm not really in the position to be buying them all. I'm just wondering.

    I heard the first one was fantastic, as well as Nier, which is a spin off. I can personally tell you Drakengard 2,3 are not worth your time and money at all.
