The Joker's Game - Part 1

Before I start, I’d like to give credit to Bob Kane, the creator of Batman, to all of his Batman characters. I wanted to do something with his amazing series and include one of my own character’s.

"Miss Gail, you need to wake up." Alfred says tapping me on the shoulder. "Miss Gail, it is urgent!" I bolted upright, waking up to seeing Alfred.

"What is it Alfred?" I ask lazily, my gaze kind of foggy.

"Master Bruce needs you in the Batcave. Fast." Alfred says helping me out of bed. I nod as I see how important this is, I got up out of bed with my regular black halter top and black sweatpants. My hair pulled up into a ponytail.

"Okay, Alfred, tell me what you know." I say as Alfred and I are quickly walking down the hall.

"Master Bruce says that he has discovered Joker's a big deal that'll commence tonight.." Alfred explains as we take a right. We go into the elevator to head down the Bat cave.

"Any other information?" I ask stretching my back and arms.

"Master Bruce says that he'll inform you the rest." Alfred tells me with his hands behind his back. I nod tucking a lock of hair into the back of my ear.

Alfred and I walked out of the elevator, I go faster and faster the closer I get to the end of the passageway. After I exit the passageway to the Batcave, I see Bruce and Tim in front of the Batcomputer. Bruce and Tim are already in their suits, I quickly turn into my changing spot. I put on my armor black and dark silver armor chest plate, my black and dark silver armored pant, my belt, my black gloves that goes halfway up my arm with a diamond design on the top of my hand, I put on my black boot, and my mask that covers my eye's.

"What's the news?" I quickly ask as I meet up with them by the Batcomputer.

"Joker has been raving on about some plans to his thugs." Tim says nodding to the Batcomputer, I fold my arms while observing the Batcomputer's screens.

"Joker is going to rob the city bank." Bruce informs me.

"So? He's done this before. What's the big deal?" I ask not seeing the whole entire problem.

"The 'Big Deal' is that he is going to use his laughing gas as a distraction." Bruce says agitated, obviously trying to speed things up.

"And... people won't be taking money out of the bank this time of night." I say plainly. "What's the big deal?"

"He's also planted some explosives in apartment buildings around the vicinity." Tim says rocking back and forth. "He will explode them as a distraction for the police to handle, use the laughing gas in the bank to kill the guards, and sneak into the bank and get the money."

"What does Joker want with the money? He never really cares about the money, he usually just goes around and kills everyone." I say confusingly. I wonder if he is getting the money for a different thing that is bigger then this.

"That's why we need to catch him before any of this happens." Bruce says walking to the Batmobile.

"What if it's something else?" I ask. This isn't adding up, why would he rob a bank? Why would he use these explosives for something so simple?

"It's a chance we'll just have to take." Tim says getting onto his motorcycle. I pushed the thoughts away and hopped onto my motorcycle.

"Be careful guys." I say before Batman drives out. Robin then follows, and I ride after them.

"Stay on alert!" Batman says over the communicator.

"Is this working?" Alfred asks over the communicator.

"Just fine, Alfred." I say to him. Tim and Bruce both answer they can hear him also.

"Alright, Alfred, how far are we to the bank?" Bruce asked over the communicator.

"Um... about eight miles sir." Alfred responds.

"When is this whole 'plan' suppose to start anyway?" I ask in the communicator.

"Not sure, all we know is that it's tonight." Tim answers.

"How did we find out?" I ask taking a sharp turn right.

"I interrogated a thug." Bruce responded. By interrogating, he probably meant, beat them up till he got some answers.

Gunshots rang up from behind us, I look and see cars and motorcycles chasing us. "Uh... we've got company." I informed Tim and Bruce.

"Noticed." Tim says with a grunt as he followed Bruce taking a sharp left.

"Split up. We all meet at the bank." Bruce says at a three-way intersection. A bullet hit the concrete on my right. He went straight, Tim went right, I went left. Which split the group of the gunners to each one of us. Just my luck, I got a big van, a car, and a motorcycle after me. The motorcycle caught up to me, he is right next to me.

"Pull over and we'll go easy on ya!" The thug yelled over the pounding wind, I glanced at him, he has a gun pointed at me. I grin, which made his eyes widen. I look ahead of me, no dead-end, alright good. I look at him again, take a batclaw and shot the claw at the tire. It made the man go out of control and run into a bunch of metal trash cans. Okay now, for the van and the car, I've gotta lose 'em somehow. I take a hard turn right.

"Doing okay, Fox?" Tim ask's over the communicator.

"Uh... Yeah." I respond looking behind me, gunshots rang up from behind me, I pushed the throttle harder. "You going easy on them?" I ask taking a sharp turn left.

"Yeah, right." Tim responds sarcastically.

"Don't mess around, remember our-" Bruce says over the communicator.

"Yeah, we know." I cut in agitated. What does he think we are? Little kids? Well I did just turn nineteen recently, but I mean seriously. We're not eight.

Okay I'm tired of messing around with these idiots, time to take things to new heights. The car and van are on each side of me now, the thugs look at me which makes me feel very uncomfortable. They maneuver their vehicles closer and closer to my sides, I started getting a little worried now, I'm at full speed. The van and the car for some reason punch their brakes, I hear the car is very close behind me still. Something pushed the back of my motorcycle, which sent me flying out of control.

"No, no, no, no, no." I say in fear as I'm swerving. I push my motorcycle into a drift, trying to gain back control. I then hit a light-post with the back of my motorcycle, I flipped off of it. I hit the ground so hard I thought I broke everything, I cry in pain, I roll three times in till my back hit the side of a building, I shout in pain, and the impact flipped me on my stomach. I hit my head hard on the ground, I feel a cool liquid trickle down by my temple.

I have so much pain surging through my body, it ran all the way to the tip of my toes and up the rest of my body. I breathe heavily as I lay on the cold ground, keeping my eye's closed, hoping this was some sort of dream. I hear the vehicles screech to a stop and car doors opening. My head begins to sting where I feel the cool liquid, it's throbbing. "Fox, Fox, you okay?" I hear Tim say in the communicator, his voice is a little shaky.

"Fox, Night Fox, respond!" Bruce says hearing his voice in serious panic. I open my eyes, everything is blurry and the lights were blurring out of focus. I see someone walking towards me, with their beige pants and black boots.

"Fox, come on! Respond!" I hear Tim's voice in more panic. Something tugged on the collar of my suit and lifted me up off the ground. It somehow sprung me back to life.

I kicked and punched, I tried elbowing the man who held me up. He placed me on my feet which I practically was still weak, even though my body wanted to keep going. I fell to me knees, I wanted to get up, but my body doesn't respond. I'm deeply scared now, why am I not able to move. The man pushed my face up to his, his blurry face looking at me... I punched him in the face somehow and get up. My vision still massively blurry. "Abigail!" Bruce said over the communicator, he's never said my regular name over the communicator out on the field. He is desperate to see if I'm okay.

I want to respond so badly, but the thugs are surrounding me, I can't even see their faces since they are so blurry. "Get her!" One of the thugs shouted. One of them grabbed my right arm tight, I elbowed him and kicked him back. Someone grabbed my shoulder I turned and punch him hard in the face. Then there is a sharp pain in my stomach as I feel a boot collide on my upper stomach. I gasped for air as I fell on my knees, everything is moving fast, spinning, it's blurry, I'm confused, I'm in pain. I don't know what to do.

As I try to recover. I feel a hard hit on the back of the head, I think it might have been a bat, I don't know. But all I know is that I'm flat on my stomach on the ground, I give up. I'm dead anyway. I'm in so much pain that my body is shaking and tears are starting to leak out of my eyes slowly. "Bruce, I'm detecting very high spikes in her suit. It's no use." Alfred said in the communicator, it was very low. My hearing is very faint.

I'm getting dragged on the ground by my feet, to the big van obviously. I just keep my eyes closed, not like my body is gonna respond to what my brain is telling it to do. I get picked up and tossed into the back of the van, I grunt when I land in the van. They climbed in and I hear the doors shut. One of the thugs grabbed my arms and puts them behind my back, they take a zip-tie and now I can't use my hands. Yup... I'm dead.

"What's the piece in her ear?" I hear one of the thugs ask. That's a really stupid question, I mean seriously... it's obviously a communicator.

"It's the way she communicate's with Bat-dork and the idiotic bird boy." The other thug answered. "The boss is gonna like this." They take the communicator out of my ear.... all hope is lost. If they smash it, Bruce and Tim won't be able to track me.

They were making jokes about Batman and Robin all the way to our destinations, mocking on how they act, and how Robin would swoon if he found out what happened to me. Jerks. They probably thought I was asleep, but I'm awake. I just can't move, sometimes the pain really hurt and I could have sworn I felt a tear come out of my eye as the pain increased. I would sometime let out a small whimper. It then decreases and then increases again.

We finally made it to our destination, I hear the doors open, I got picked up and the intensity of my pain went high. I could have screamed, but I maintained my scream by biting my lower lip. Someone put a sack over my head, now if I opened my eye's, I can't see where I'm at... this really sucks. I feel myself fading, 'bout time my body gave up.

When I woke up the sack was off my head, I am leaning forward with my arms tied behind my back, my feet touching the ground. I open my eyes I'm tied to a chair, a bright light is flashing toward me, it's an empty filthy room. There is a big window with a door on its left, I see the outlining of someone at the window. My eyes start focusing... oh, just what I need, The Joker.

"Hey Bats, how's it going? Missing something?" I hear Joker say as he giggled. Is he using the communicator? "Of course you are, now if you want her back. You're gonna have to come and get her. Meet me at the Steel Mill. If you don't make it here within five minutes I will blow up an apartment building nearby. Also..." Joker opens up the door and walks in. "you're little friend is awake and is DYING to see you. If you don't get your butt up here within thirty minutes. She dies." Joker IS using the communicator. He drops it on the ground and crushes it with his foot.

"Alright m'dear, ready for a little game?" Joker asked taking a knife out, I straighten up and look at him with anger. Trying to hide my fear.

"Back off!" I say confidentially. I'm tied up to a chair and I really think that's gonna help? What am I thinking?

"Oh... someone is a little down in the dumps." Joker says getting closer. "How about we put a smile on your face?"

"Don't touch me!" I yell as he get's really close.

"What's wrong? Is this bothering you?" He puts the knife close to my face, I'm breathing hard in fear. Pulling back as far as I can from the knife.

"Get away from me!" I say jerking my head away from him.

"Ooh, Bats only has two minutes in till I make fireworks roar through the skies!" Joker says excitedly checking his watch. "One minute and fifty-nine." He says as a second went by.

"Why are you doing this? Is this all a game to you?" I ask trying to keep his attention away from the time.

"After five years of chasing me down, putting my in Arkham Asylum. Me escaping again. Hasn't told you?" Joker asked.

"Why? What's so fun about this?" I asked pretending to be curious.

"M'dear, you don't know the thrill of a kill. Oh it's fantastic! You should really try it sometime." Joker says gesturing excitedly away. "The thrill of knowing that hundreds, sometimes thousands of lives could be taken by one click of a button. And having this feeling to share with someone who is trying to save them! Oh it's a great game Bats and I play, I think he enjoys them to, eheheheh. Also since you are joined in and the little bird-boy, it's just making it more fun!"

"I'm making my little games harder to beat and watching you, Bats, and Bird-boy struggle to try to save the - poor - innocent lives just makes it so much more fun! Oh the times we share will last forever within out memories! Also the fireworks along the way is also great fun, I'm about to set some off in - ooh hahahahahahah - fifteen seconds!" He looks at his watch excitedly and takes a remote out of his pocket.

"Would you like to count down with me? Ooh, maybe even push the button?" Joker asks getting closer as he hops around excitedly.

"No." I say strictly. I can't take that many lives.

"Aw, you're no fun... I guess I'll just make you push the button!" Joker says enthusiastically. He gets behind my chair and pry's my hand open. "Ready to count down... in three... two... - ooh hahahah - ONE!" Joker placed the trigger in my hand.

"No!" I yelped. "Don't make me-" He pressed the knife on my shoulder and from the pain I automatically closed my hand. I hear the loud boom of the bomb going off, the quakes of the effect. "NO!" I screamed as I bow my head.

"Hahahahahah! Oh my, you're first... well, first hundred's of kills!" Joker said happily and laughing. "Wow, you did amazingly great. I wish you would smile about this. Oh, this is a great accomplishment!"

"You-you made me kill... hundreds... hundreds of innocent lives." I say, tears pouring out of my eye's. Pain and guilt were going through my entire body. What have I done?

"Oh lighten up!" Joker said angrily and back slaps me across the face.

"Boss, we've just spotted the, Batman." A man's voice said over a walkie-talkie.

"Excellent! Just don't make it to easy for him to come in, because I want him to have a bit of a challenge for the prize." Joker responded back as he smiled widely at me. I grip onto the chair tight, biting my lower lip.
