I wrote this for a friend of mine who is writing a short story about depression. Thought I'd post it here for any that wanted to read it.

I put on a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

It bruised me, it squeezed me, and I begged for mercy.

I change my mind! I’d rather bleed!

I can no longer love, or hate, or mourn,

I put a tourniquet around my emotions and now,

I can’t feel anything at all.

dafuq is a tourniquet

Its used to stop the bleeding of serious wounds or amputations, while it does save lives it also causes a lot of permanent damage.
