Team Yumi re-entered the Hidden Leaf Village as the sun began to set over the Hokage Monument. They had just finished a mission, and were on their way to report their success to the Hokage. Despite the time of day, various villagers were running, talking, playing, and laughing through the streets. A few ninja discussed their most recent mission, while vendors tried to sell goods to annoyed customers.

 

"Heh... I really missed being in the village!" Koukon grinned, happy to be back home.

 

"Yeah. We can finally rest." Hikari wasn't as enthusiastic as her friend, but still smiled. "I can't wait to go eat some ramen." She rubbed her stomach, having missed her favorite food.

 

"Of course, that's the first thing you think of. It's always ramen with you." Koukon teased Hikari. "I guess that going to Ichiraku wouldn't hurt, though..." He looked over at his teacher. "Yumi sensei, is it fine if we head off?"

 

"Yeah, I'll go check in with Lord Hokage. You three can go off and get something to eat." The woman smiled back at her students.

 

"Alright!" Koukon shouted, and looked over to his teammates. "Let's go, Hikari! Are you going to come with, Kiniku?" He asked his best friend, hoping that the three of them could go together.

 

"It's been a while since the three of us got to go to Ichiraku together, hasn't it?" Hikari asked. "You should come with us, Kiniku."

"Y-you're right..." Akarui agreed. He might be weird, but he is good at making people happier... Akarui thought to herself. She turned to face Kiniku, and held her arm out. "G-good... race, Kiniku." She muttered, trying to smile.

"Heh No problem, Red,' Kiniku said, gripping Akarui's hand a little too tightly.

"Ow!" Akarui squeaked, not expecting the tight grip.

 

"Ah, it is good to see my students resolve their issues in such a youthful manner!" Lee began to sob, which slightly scared Akarui.

 

Hikari and Koukon both arrived to the meeting site. "What's going on?" Hikari asked.

 

"We heard a ton of weird noises in the village. Apparently, some people were racing... What'd we miss?" Koukon asked.

Kiniku / Ryuichi / Shogo

 

Kiniku retracted back. "Whoops! Sorry there Red. I guess I can't control my own strength..." Kiniku said, scratching the back of his head.

 

"I agree Dad Sensei!" Ryuichi responded to his father and sensei. "What about you, Shogo?"

 

"Hmph... Foolish..." Shogo said, the only thing he's said up to this point. Ryuichi frowned at Shogo's crabbiness while Kiniku simply rolled his eyes.

 

"Oh, hey guys!" Kiniku said as his teammates showed up. "Me and Red here just got down doing a race." Kiniku added, pointed to the Uzumaki by him.

"You and Akarui?" Koukon asked, surprised that the two had race. "I bet that you got bored and challenged her, right?" He laughed.

 

"Wouldn't surprise me. That is the type of thing he'd do... I thought he'd challenge Ryuichi, though." Hikari added.

Kiniku / Ryuichi

 

"Actually, she challenged me first." Kiniku confirmed.

 

"But we have also agreed to race tomorrow? Right Kiniku?" Ryuichi asked.

 

"You betcha, Bushy Brows." Kiniku responded.

"Wait... Really?" Koukon and Hikari both looked at Akarui, clearly surprised.

 

"Uh... Y-yeah..." She shyly answered, smiling.

 

"Why would you try to race Kiniku...?" Hikari asked Akarui.

 

"Well... I... Was bored?" She said nervously.

Ryuichi

 

As Kiniku chuckled at the red haired girl's reaction to his teammates, Ryuichi extended a welcome to both Koukon and Hikari.

 

"So then, Koukon and Hikari, how are you two doing this fine day?" He asked, while Shogo decided to turn his back on all four of them.

"Huh?" Koukon was surprised by Ryuichi's sudden greeting. "Oh. Well... We're both good. Right, Hikari?"

 

"Er... Yeah... We're fine." Hikari confirmed, nodding as she spoke.

Ryuichi

 

"That is great to hear! It is important to cherish the days of our youth as much as we can!" Ryuichi said with a smile, a wink, and while giving a thumbs up, and also while Shogo scoffed in his direction, back still turned to everybody else.

"Uh... Right..." Koukon forced a grin. This kid really weirds me out sometimes... I probably shouldn't let that show... He thought nervously.

 

Hikari, on the other hand, wasn't so great at hiding how strange she thought the boy was. "Er... Sure, kid..." She had a slight look of confusion, and nervously glanced at Koukon.

Ryuichi

 

"What is the matter, you two? Are you not able to spread your youthful vibes?" Ryuichi asked, dishearted. "Hmm..." He thought for a moment. "Ooh, I have an idea! How about you two and Kiniku come down to the Training Grounds and spar against Shogo, Akarui, and I? I will be most helpful in raising your spirits!"

"Youthful vibes"...? He's really lost it... Hikari thought to herself.

 

"Hm... A sparring match doesn't sound bad. Sure, I'm up for it!" Koukon smirked. "Just don't cry too hard when we kick your sorry butts into the lake." He taunted.

 

Looks like I have to stay around, in case he gets hurt... Hikari sighed. "Alright, fine. I guess I'll go along..."

 

"A-a sparring match?" Akarui looked nervous. I could even things with Kiniku... Or I could lose again... Ryuichi, why'd you have to put me on the spot like this?!

Kiniku / Ryuichi

 

"Sparring, huh? Well, after that race, I am pretty amped up. I'm in!" Kiniku said. "Come on team, lets head to the grounds!" Kiniku added, already ninja dashing towards said grounds.

 

"Yes! We shall follow you!" Ryuichi said with hyperactive joy, while Shogo just kept to himself and followed his teammate, not really too excited himself. That is, not excited to fight anybody that wasn't Hikari...

"Yeah! Come on, Hikari!" Koukon ran off in the same direction as Kiniku, Ryuichi, and Shogo.

 

"Alright, alright... I'm coming..." Hikari muttered, chasing after Koukon.

 

"W-wait! Oh, no..." Akarui sighed, and reluctantly followed her hyper teammate.

 

Eventually, the six reached the training grounds. However, they quickly found three other shinobi there: One black haired boy, one blonde haired boy, and a pink haired girl. Koukon quickly straightened up, for... Seemingly unknown reasons, while Hikari groaned.

Shinachiku / Daiki / Misaki

 

"Oh well well well, look who's here guys!" The short one with blond hair piped up; he was wearing a light orange zip up hoodie with yellow wristbands and pants matching his headband and sandals. He walked towards the three with a cocky grin, folding his arms in front of him. "So what's up? You came to spar?"

 

"Obviously they are. This is the training grounds, moron..." the boy with black hair said behind him; he was wearing a black high collared zip up shirt with Uchiha symbol on back, black armbands, black shorts and a navy blue cloth with sash around his waist.

 

"Hey, pipe it Uchiha! Stay out of my business!" Shinachiku yelled back.

 

"This is our business. After all, you are trying to drag us into another fight. Why don't you grow some common sense, Shinachiku?" The pink haired girl next to Daiki said; she was wearing a light red and white lined zip up top, a light red and white lined skirt with Uchiha symbol on front, and fingerless gloves. 

 

"Aw come on Misaki," Shinachiku whined.

 

Kiniku / Ryuichi

 

"If you three are done bickering like brats, I'll let you know that we're not here to spar with you. We're actually here to spar with Ryuichi and his team," Kiniku said, pointing his thumb at Ryuichi beside him.

I'd prefer beating some sense into Shinachiku over fighting anyone from Ryuichi's team... Hikari thought to herself, glaring at her younger brother.

Misaki

 

"Ew, no. You're weird!" Misaki bluntly said, running behind Daiki for protection.

 

Kiniku

 

"Alright alright, hold your horses everybody," Kiniku said. "Koukon, we're sparring with Ryuichi's team first, leave Shinachiku's team to watch."

Koukon sighed. "She's just hiding it..." He muttered, then turned to Kiniku. "Aw, fine..."

 

Ugh, looks like I'll have to wait to wipe that smug grin off the idiot's face. Hikari thought. Of course, he's not the only idiot here... She looked at Koukon, sighing.

 

"Let's just get it over with already!" Koukon said, stretching. "I want to get on to round two." He focused on Misaki again.

Shinachiku / Daiki / Misaki

 

"Ugh." Misaki said, almost feeling like she needed to throw up.

 

"Hey, weirdo. If you keep staring at my sister, I'll make you pay for it." Daiki growled, getting annoyed at Koukon's pervy look.

 

"I bet you're gonna lose, Hikari! You're miles behind me, so there's no way you're beating Musclehead or Bushy Brows!" Shinachiku taunted his sister from afar, blowing a raspberry.

"Alright, alright, fine..." Koukon reluctantly backed off. "Boring Uchiha kid..." He muttered under his breath, hoping Daiki wouldn't hear him.

 

"What was that, shorty?!" Hikari glared at her brother. "I could easily take you down. Kiniku and Ryuichi are practically nothing against me!" She began to bluff.

Kiniku / Ryuchi

 

"Whoa whoa, back it up there Hyugamaki," Kiniku said, pulling Hikari back behind him with Koukon. "Now then. We're doing this one against one and one at a time. Right, Bushy Brows?" Kiniku said, performing the Seal of Confrontation.

 

"That is correct! And we shall go first!" Ryuichi said, performing the same seal as Kiniku. Shogo stayed back with Akarui and thought about fighting Hikari.

"Ugh... Fine." Hikari pouted, and sat down as she watched the battle.

 

"This should be good." Koukon sat next to Hikari, ready to see his best friend fight their flamboyant classmate.

Teams Lee, Yumi, and Shinachiku sat and watched as two of the strongest Chunin in the village began to fight.

 

Kiniku / Ryuichi

 

"Okay, let's go!" Kiniku cried, running towards Ryuichi.

 

"Right!" Ryuichi cried back.

 

The two clashed and began exchanging strikes with each other.

"They're not really getting anywhere, are they?" Koukon asked, starting to recline.

 

"I'm sure things will get more interesting soon enough." Hikari said, continuing to watch the fight.

 

Who am I supposed to want to win...? Akarui felt slightly conflicted.
