What's The Best Arcade Stick?

Posted

im getting into arcade games and i want to play them with an arcade joystick and buttons. im looking for one with a usb cable to plug into computers or consoles. i would get the xarcade stick but i think that is too expensive.

1. do you guys know of any good arcade sticks to buy that are good for fighting games like street fighter and stuff like that but also affordable?

2.also here is a second arcade stick option. if possible, id like to build my own arcade stick out of a joystick and buttons. where is a good place to get the parts? (AKA a website or chain store)

if you can answer any of those questions id be appreciative. thx! :D

I don't know what the best arcade stick is, but I do know a good place to get parts:

http://www.focusattack.com/

They sell pretty much everything you'd need. I personally bought a set of Sanwa buttons, a Sanwa Joystick, and a set of replacement quick-disconnect wires from them, and I'm very happy with my purchase. They don't sell any knockoff parts, so you're sure to receive quality parts.

For my fight stick I took a MadCatz BrawlStick :http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-WWE-Stars-Brawl-Stick-3/dp/B004M25NNQ and replaced the stock parts with the parts I listed above (the extra wire was because I broke one of the wires by not being careful). Of course, that was a couple of years ago and the 360 BrawlStick was going for $30. The art is terrible (a wrestling fan might like it, I guess), but that can be removed (I didn't bother, though). It's one of the easiest to mod, though it is a bit on the small side.

Oh, and here's a decent guide to fight sticks (also has some links for part shopping and what not, if you wanna mod or build your own) that I found. Breaks down some of the more popular ones into tiers:
