These are the supposed PC requirements for the upcoming PC port of GTA5. Now chances are the game is probably just a terrible port, as Rockstar is well known for making terrible PC ports, but that aside many people online are complaining that apparently these requirements are "too high" or too demanding. I am... Shocked by this. Just looking at these parts:

 

Core 2 Duo E8200 - This chip is from 2008 and it was not even the best chip you could get then either... If your chip was a high end chip from 2007 or even late 2006 you should be fine for running minimum. Hell, you could probably OC your chip and get to med-high settings.

 

Core i5-2500T - The "recommended" chip... This thing is almost 2 years old now. It is not even the best chip when it came out either, if your PC is newer than 2010 chances are you have a comparable chip. It averages online for about $200 nowadays. Coupled with the GTX 480 you need to run the game on HIGH settings... That card is only like $90. You could literally build a machine that could run the entire game on probably $750 or less on max settings...

 

If your gaming PC is in need of an upgrade to play this game, chances are you are past due for upgrades anyways. I am really surprised people are considering this "high". There were games that came out that required the GTX 680 and an i7 and no one batted an eye at those. Hell, I've even seen games that recommend the current generation GTX 700 series for max settings and no one is even talking about that, but a graphics card that is 3 generations old is now too intensive? The PS4 has a better GPU than that...

I would not trust anything that is on KDrama Stars.  They are known for their incorrect/unofficial information. (Like Here they say that KHIII will be releaed in May of 2015 and FFXV in March of 2015, while also being confirmed to release on PC.  None of this information is official and is likely untrue.)

 

With that being said, I do not believe PC specs for GTAV have been reveled as of yet.

I'm not trying to be rude but post this where people know what you're talking about, I doubt there's any PC gamers here. What exactly are you trying to say BTW that the game requires bad parts? GTX 480 and i5 are pretty outdated last I checked.

You're right - these parts aren't exactly the newest.

Saying that an i5 is outdated is wrong though, as it depends on which i5 you have.

For example, I have an i5 4690k right now and it's running splendid alongside my GTX970.

 

People on the internet don't seem to care though - they think the requirements are too high, but they really aren't.

That's what this topic is about - showing why they're wrong.

In my opinion these requirements aren't too high. You shouldn't expect to be able to play that game on your 90's DELL notebook, but a decent  PC bought/built after 2012 should get you at least decent framerates at medium settings.

And no, these parts are not "bad" just that they are old. The i5 2500T is close to 2 years old and the GTX 480 is closer to 5 years old. My point is I am shocked that people are saying these requirements are too high considering you could get both of these parts for under $300.

 

For the sake of putting this in simple terms, I shall create a fictional PC that could run this game on max settings:

 

Phenom II X4 975 - $129

GTX 480 - $90

G.Skill 6GB RAM set - $64

350 Watt PSU - $30

500GB hard drive - $50

Standard case with all the necessary fans/wires - Around $50

Motherboard that could run this all (so many choices) - $80

 

All together this build would cost around $493 (assuming you didn't find better prices, which no doubt you could). That's less than an Xbox One with connect and the game would run better.

 

My point is, that this is by no means an intensive game, so does anyone know why people are freaking out? I've seen a couple people on different forums and such flipping out, but I am failing to see why. Anyone have any insight?

An i5 processor of any type should be able to back up any GPU, sure. Don't want to get too low on processing power though.

You could always overclock too if you wanted to save money. Like it surprises me because Dragon Age: Inquisition has much higher specs and it was released last month and yet no one has complained...

Well Dragon Age appeals to a different, more hardcore gamer crowd. The people complaining about GTA V's requirements just don't understand and own obsolete PCs from ten years ago.

 

I just remembered, GTA as a series usually has terrible, shitty graphics. The PS2 games could have ran on N64 if they gave it a disc drive. So the GTA fans are used to terrible graphics, and probably expect to play it on PC with their Intel HD even though that thing can't really play any games.

I'm surprised their laptops survived to this day. Mines (which was a gift) died after 2 years, and it was a 2009 laptop. Granted, it was a HP, so it didn't matter if I took complete care of it inside out if was from a shitty manufacture. Hope GTA 5's specs show up soon. I might buy it if my PC can handle it, or else it will be time to upgrade.
