this is my theory on who skull kid (from majoras mask) is and how he is related to the happy mask salesman. someone probly already thought of this theory but i wanted to share what i thought of nonetheless. here we go. spoiler.

 

at the beggining on the game, you meet the happy mask salesman. he talks as if he knows skull kid. plus, he says you need the ocarina of time to undo the deku scrub. he knows about the ocarina of time. not to mention, happy mask salesman has always been a suspicious character overall. whats the deal? (i know the title of this is my SKULL KID theory but stay with me) if you ask me, i think happy mask salesman is more connected to skull kid than we think. what do i mean by that? well, remember the end of the game? where you go to the inside of the moon? you see skull as a human. and take a closer look. he and all the other children on the moon look like the happy mask salesman but younger. can you see where im going with this? i think the happy mask salesman is skull kid. allow me to allaborate.

 

is it possible that when we see skull kid, we actually see a younger version of the happy mask salesman? my theory has a few holes but i still have an idea. what if, the happy mask salesman was born as a skull kid? or better yeat, lets go with what a skull kid actually is. is hyrule historia, it says that its possible that a child that dies in the forest could become a skull kid or a stalfos. maybe skull kid was born a child, then went in the woods, and died for some reason. this would explain why he looks human in the moon. (a place that seems to be more of a spiritual place than a physical place because lets face it, i dont think the inside of the moon looks like than) in fact, i think that all the children inside the moon are past incarnations of the skull kid. all of them feel alone and dont have great friends. plus the only difference about them is their masks. their anatomy is egsactly the same. thats why i think they are all past incarnations of skull kid. past incarnations of happy mask salesman. i think that after the game ends, and skull kid is free, he somehow turns into a human and goes on to sell masks. (something that is very familiar to him) and later on, he would go back in time for some reason using the ocarina of time. (maybe to open the happy mask shop or to sell masks to past people) then he would run into his past self who would steal majoras mask from him. in addition to that, in the ending we see happy mask salesman vanish into nothingness. maybe thats him time traveling again with HIS ocarina of time. (or by other means) thats my theory. here are the holes:

 

1. where di happy mask salesman get majoras mask in the first place? if the theory is true then that would mean the only time skull kid came into contact with majoras mask was with happy mask salesman from the future. this would mean a time loop similar to the song of storms time loop. that question is unanswered for the same reason the question "where did the song of storms come from?" isnt answered.

maybe im missing a few holes, but i know my theory isnt perfect. but its the only thing i can think of to justify who the happy mask salesman is and how he knows so much. what are your thoughts?

i always thought the HMS came from the same tribe that Majora was made in. and hes come to take the mask for power and revive his lost tribe.but Link had her9(majora) flee from the mask and now its just a mask. and tht theres going to be a MM sequal of some sorts where Majora comes back

your theory was excellent and makes a ton of sense  sure there are a few rough unconfirmed patches but i can see how it works  you may be right...

Hmm,I don't know.I never got the impression that it was human Skull kid we saw in the moon,remember that Skull Kid was freed right before we go in,so it can't be him,I always though they were some random kids with the Happy Mask Salesman model because Nintendo. and if he became a Skull kid how could he be turn into a human again?

im not saying he turned into a skull kid. im saying that he died in the forest and was reicarnated as a skull kid. actually, just by you saying that i thought of another theory! i dont like to say "oh he has the happy mask salesman's model because nintendo already had it and didnt want to make another model" it probly is true, but i want to put together an answer that doesent have to do with what happens outside the game.
