Doing research for a fan-fic

I'm working on a Firefly fan-fic, which is a 'what-if' Season 2 set after the film Serenity.

 

The major research i'm doing to make the story as authentic as possible, is the Firefly Wiki, some stuff on chinese culture and language, and I am also reading up on news about ISIS (which the antagonists are heavily based on).
