Okay, so let me start by announcing that this is pure thought. I just thought of it this morning and thought it'd be a cool idea. Although I would be an extreme advocate, I neither volunteer nor do I even have the capability of pursuing such an enormous project.Greetings fellow Kingdom Hearts fans! So, I happened upon a video from Cynical (TheGamersJoint from YouTube) this morning entitled Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Re:Coded in HD (Gameplay). I've always been excited and desired an HD playable version of 358/2 Days, so I wanted to check it out. It was just the two games running on PC with a special program. But it got me thinking about an actual HD version. Like, on par with the PS3 capabilities. Now, hear me out. I know it'd take a lot of coding and an unpredictable amount of time, but think about it: We have the HD cutscenes from 358/2 Days. As well, if someone got into the code for Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+ or Re: Chain of Memories, they could conceivably hack the game to "play as" so and so characters. After that, it's just getting the code for the different rooms.I know this is way, way, WAY oversimplified, but I think it'd be a cool idea. What'd really be cool is an HD mission mode. Like, playing as the different organization characters, in HD? That'd be sick. Anyway, I think this is a cool idea. What do you guys think?

That would be interesting to see...IF the Kingdom Hearts fan community actually had any programmers talented enough to make that happen.

No offense to the talented members of the community out there already (I already see plenty of amazing fan art and musical compositions from fans of this series), but when it comes to the mods scene, there's only a handful that could take something like this and make it feel authentic enough. Compared to the Sonic fan community, KH is kind of in short supply of surprisingly competent fan programmers that could make such a thing happen, at least in my eyes. I'm not saying it's impossible, just very very unlikely and the result might not feel as authentic as most fans would want it to be. I've only seen a few fan-mods and fan-games of KH before, and as impressive as they were, you could still clearly tell "yeah, this doesn't quite feel like a KH game", so from my perspective, I'm not sure if there's really anybody out there right now that could meet the challenge of the idea you have.

It'd still be cool to see, but from my limited familiarity of the fan community, I'm not sure there's anyone who can make that happen...yet. :/

I can see what you mean. This idea would need a lot of work to become reality.

I think that with enough people to support this idea, it could happen, but like Hero of Light XIV said, It wouldn't have the KH feel to it. Not entirely.

But let's not give up hope.

Really my main concern is that there isn't enough discovered talent out there to make it happen yet. As much as I love KH, I can acknowledge that in terms of popularity, it isn't one of the hugest fan communities out there, not compared to others like Sonic, Zelda, Mario, etc. If you've seen the works some fans have done with those series, you'd be easily impressed, there are some pretty incredible stuff fans have made over the years. With Kingdom Hearts, it feels like the fan base is still budding, if there are any incredible people out there with the talent necessary to pull this off, they haven't yet made themselves known very well. But who knows, I have a feeling that after KH3, Kingdom Hearts' popularity is going to skyrocket compared to what it is now, so maybe that'll increase the pool of fans and by extension the attraction of talent.

Or I could just be very ignorant and not have explored enough of the fan base to really locate any hidden gems like I'm describing, so maybe there are a few diamonds in the rough that I haven't discovered yet. :P

Man, I've wanted this to happen ever since I played the game! It's not fair that one of my favourite KH games has to rely on a bad battle system and repetitive scenarios because of the limited capacity of the Nintendo DS!

Still, as Hero of Light says, we, the KH fanbase couldn't posibly make this game all over for PS3, not only because we need talented people, but because we need the tools, the money and the rights to do so.

Well KH is still pretty young compared to Sonic, Zelda, and Mario. That's why the fan base isn't as large.

For all we know, you or I could be talanted enough to do this.

Lol, I couldn't program my way out of my own dorm! XD"

Hey there! :)
Well your idea is good but in modding terms is very difficult to do that, It would be easier to make the game with an engine from the beginning, actually is one of the future projects that I want to work on but I need more knowledge, I heard that some guys are trying to do it right now, those from the "Destiny Island Project"
But like I said, modding that would be extremely difficult.
