Hey there everyone, how's it going!?  So then, as most of you all know, I'm a lover of RPG's, and some of the RPG's I love to play the most are from Square Enix!  That being said, I've played all the Kingdom Hearts games, Chrono Trigger, and a few Final Fantasy games! And speaking of Final Fantasy games, I got VIII and IX for my PS3!

 

You see, there was this special going on, where the games were half priced, and so I got VIII and IX for $9.98 cents!  And well, since I purchased them, I'm obviously gonna download them, and I started downloading VIII first!

 

So then, to those of you who've played VIII and IX, did you enjoy those two games?  Which one did you think was the best? How were the games in terms of story and gameplay, and did you like the music?  Also, were the games long?

 

Please make sure not to spoil anything about these games, since this will be my first time playing them! I just wanted to know your thoughts on the games, and which one you like most, VIII or IX! I look forward to reading your replies!

Oh wow, that's quite the history you have with both gaming franchises!  Color me impressed!  And what I find the most awesome is that your parents are also gamers! That definitely rocks!  Your parents are good for getting you into gaming! :')

 

Ah, I see, so that's how Dragon Quest goes, huh?  Well, I do love exploring worlds and turn based battle systems, so the Dragon Quest games sound like great games to play!  And the fact they take a ton of hours to beat only adds to the games, since I love taking my time beating RPG's!  And the stories are similar, you say? Hmm, well, that may be a slight turn off for me, but since every game has different characters, I'm sure things get spiced up from time to time! I might have to check into Dragon Quest one of these days!

 

Yep, I thank my parents dearly for getting me into gaming.   In fact, my mom is playing Harry Potter 1 on her computer as I write this.  My dad doesn't play video games anymore, but he still watches me and my brother play games sometimes; he actually watched me play KH1 once.

 

Yeah, its up to you of you want to give the DQ series a shot or not.  I'd say the best one to try first is VIII; it has the largest world, the most interesting characters, and is fairly long (took me around 80 hours to finish the first time, but now it takes around 40-50 hours).  VIII is for the PS2 (though you might be able to get it on Steam, I'm not sure), and it is being remade for the 3DS, along with VII, which has the best plot imo.  Both are coming out sometime this year.

 

One more thing I forgot to mention about Dragon Quest is that there are times where you might have to stop and level grind for a bit; its not like Final Fantasy where you can go from one town/dungeon to the next without worrying about your levels too much.  I know grinding can be a turn off for some people, so I just wanted to warn you.
