i dont think im more wise, i see what you mean and i get you!! its not okay for guys to be like that, but there are underlying reasons for it and we should try to fight those reasons before we fight the guys who may not even realize what theyre doing

imo its really not because voting rights was wide scale oppression by the government which is a lot more noticeable. this is a social oppression(? not sure if i want to call it that because in a lot of cases, its genuine concern, but it is a effect from the violence against women which is oppression so its a least a result of oppression) that is done here and there and many people do not actually realize it.

its not really okay for fathers/brothers to act in such a way because theyre trying to dictate someones life but there are reasons for the behaviour and most of them end up being the ones i listed (though i admit a lot of times there is a brotherly/fatherly love involve and the sense to protect their daughters that kind of ties in to reason A or at least not wanting their sister/daughter to be hurt by men)
