Forever Love

Kairi's smile widened with every word. "Can we see the floating lights?" she asked softly. She heard of them briefly when Sora mentioned them in the past, but she never got to witness them for herself. It sounded awfully pretty. And romantic...

Kairi smiled shyly. "I'll let you know," she told him quietly, catching the redness in Sora's cheeks. God, he was so cute! Her words implied she would win this bet. Before Christmas break, Sora won. After, Kairi won. But...there was one thing left unsaid. "What about you?" If Sora won, what did he want?

Kairi felt her cheeks growing hot. Please don't notice, she thought to Sora. How embarrassing would that be? "...I can think of a few things," she teased quietly. Her eyes briefly fell to his lips, but she redirected them to his eyes again. Without realizing, she gave Sora a hint: him. She wanted him, but that would be too weird... She couldn't possibly say that. She heard other girls talking about how cute he was, some even asking her about him since she was with him so often. Surely he would prefer one of them--models--to her. Roxas's hand froze when Namine moved. But...she didn't wake up. His smile softened a little and he moved his hand to rest on her shoulder, keeping her close. He would make sure she stayed warm, and comfortable.

Kairi met Sora's eyes, fighting a blush at that charming eyebrow gesture. He really didn't recognize how attractive he was, did he? "Okay," she agreed, her voice soft given the movie and their close proximity. She could feel his breath on her skin whenever he spoke... "When I win," she began confidently, "what do I get?" Roxas ignored Sora and Kairi's muted conversation, still focused on the blonde resting against him. Did he make her that comfortable that she could fall asleep on him? He knew that her past was rocky and letting people close was difficult...but with him? He guessed it was different. Carefully, he moved one of his hands to brush her hair back, his fingertips lightly brushing her skin. Was she asleep already?

Roxas lowered his chin slightly to look at Namine, eyes widening a bit when she moved closer. But...he felt warm inside. His heart...It liked her close proximity. The boy couldn't help but smile. Namine... When Sora's arm went around her shoulders, Kairi felt her heart skip a beat. Did he...mean to do that? Or was it just natural for him? Either way, she slowly moved closer, snuggling up to his side. She kept her head up, not leaning it on him yet. Her eyes did fall to the blanket they shared, the girl fingering the fabric lazily. "I give them until Christmas," she replied quietly as not to disturb Roxas and Namine's viewing of the movie. Riku would make a move by then, and if he didn't, Lightning seemed bold enough to do it herself.

"Thank you," Roxas murmured quietly, smiling over at Namine. He spread the blanket so it was over both of them before putting his hands behind his head again. He fought hard not to stare at her when she was so close, managing to tear his eyes away to look at the television. Kairi shrugged faintly and gave Sora more of her blanket. "With those two, it's hard telling. He is quite fond of her, though." She smiled to herself. "I think it's sweet. Riku's never opened up to someone like he has with her." It was new, but exciting too. She was happy for her best friend.

Roxas chuckled at Namine's gentle shove, but when Sora snatched the remote, he tried reaching for it and nearly fell off Namine's bed. He readjusted and settled in next to Namine, slouching against the pillows and resting his arms behind his head. "Such a long time ago," Kairi sighed wistfully, already cozy underneath a blanket she had folded at the end of her bed. It now draped comfortably over her legs. Sora's cologne wafted toward her when he sat down beside her, and she tried not to let it affect her too much. That he was even sitting next to her for this moving was great on its own.

Roxas accepted the remote and moved to sit next to Namine. "I happen to like witches," he murmured to her, smiling crookedly. He, of course, didn't think that Namine was a witch in any sense, but he never liked hearing her make comments like that. If he could cheer her up somehow, he would. Even with a small compliment. Kairi heard that declaration and smiled to herself. Roxas was so sweet to Namine. When is he just going to ask her out already?

Roxas chuckled lightly. "As long as we get the password," he chimed with a grin. To have a free account would be awesome. Then again, if they got the password...they couldn't join the girls for a movie night again.

"Maybe," Kairi sang lightly, then leaning back on her bed and adjusting the pillows. "And in exchange, we agree to no chick flicks." She looked to Namine at this, sure the blonde would have her back on this one. It was only fair that they compromised.

Kairi nodded a little. "Okay. You guys pick," she suggested. She then held up a finger. "But no scary movies." She and Namine weren't the biggest fans of the horror genre. They'd seen enough monsters to last them a lifetime as it was.

Roxas scratched his cheek, chuckling nervously. "I guess..." he agreed. Sora seemed comfortable with this but....Roxas had never really celebrated Halloween before. He could only hope that if they went to any parties, they didn't end up like Snow's. That would be ugly. "Don't worry, we don't have to start right away," Kairi assured her friends. She mostly spoke to Namine, since she offered up help with designs. "We've got time. For now, let's just...relax." They had an eventful day as it was. First her "picture" fiasco, and then the theater drama. They needed to take it easy for tonight.

"Couples costumes, yes!" Kairi squealed, clapping her hands. "Me and Sora, and you and Roxas." She caught Roxas sit up at the statement, but her mind was already focused on what costumes would fit each couple. "And Riku and Lightning, of course." They couldn't leave out those two lovebirds. They were attached at the hip these days.

"I can always make you one from scratch!" Kairi declared proudly. She was a fashion major, after all. At the thought, she gasped. "Guys! I can make our Halloween costumes this year!" She heard Roxas groan and fall back on Namine's bed dramatically. "Oh stop it, it'll be fun!" "As long as I don't look ridiculous," Roxas grumbled. He didn't want to dress as a hippie or anything.

"Oh man, Riku would hate it," Kairi added, laughing softly herself. Riku wasn't too huge on Halloween anyway, but other people dressing like him? Kairi knew he would be humiliated. Roxas chuckled. He couldn't say much about people dressing like him. After all, he practically had a twin--Ventus.

Roxas chuckled a little at Namine's words. When he caught where her gaze went, he lifted a hand and lightly rubbed her back. "Misfits or not, I bet some people would think we're pretty awesome." "Who knows? Someday we might all be Halloween costumes," Kairi replied, looking to Sora. He always had been a lover of Halloween. She wondered what they were going to do this year. It would be their first Halloween at college.

Kairi glanced over her shoulder at Sora as she made her way to her bed, sitting cross-legged. "People don't seem too fond of a princess either," she said, smirk gone. "I've got both under my belt." She was a princess and a keyblade wielder. Neither would go well. "Former Organization XIII member," Roxas claimed with a lift of his hand. "And keyblade wielder. And Nobody." Triple threat.

Roxas sat up when Namine joined him, close enough that their shoulders touched. He gently nudged her. "Lucky. Mine's kind of lumpy," he pouted. "I wonder how quickly our room accomodations would change if they found out we're keyblade wielders." He then grinned. That would be pretty awesome, and maybe luxurious. "You did save the worlds a few times, huh?" Kairi chimed in, just then entering her room. She smirked in Roxas's direction to see his grin widen. She had to admit, things would definitely be different if they were all found out.

Roxas took that as his cue and he led Namine back to the dorms. Considering his room was in the same hall as hers, all he did was quickly change into more comfortable clothes, grab a few drinks for him and Sora from the mini-fridge and his toothbrush. By the time they got to Namine's room, Sora and Kairi weren't too far behind them. Roxas plopped down on Namine's bed, finding it much more comfortable than his. "Did you guys get better mattresses too?" he asked, staring up at the ceiling. They got a more spacious room and a private bathroom. Better beds wouldn't have been much of a surprise.

Kairi giggled softly and texted her roommate back. 'Only if Sora can stay too!' she replied, adding a smiley face for good measure. So this would be kind of like a sleepover, but not really. They were young adults now and of different sexes. Of course, there wouldn't be any of what happened at the theater earlier. Sora and Roxas respected the girls more than that. Roxas glanced up at the sky. Yep, the sun was nearly gone. It was best to get back to the dorms soon, before dark. Not that Roxas would let anything happen to Namine. Not again. He lowered his eyes to her, hearing her phone chime. "So...we good?" he asked, tilting his head.

Kairi pulled her phone out of her back pocket as she and Sora started for the dorms. She smiled at her text message. "Looks like I'm not the only one who wants someone to stay tonight," she chimed, showing Sora the screen. Namine wanted Roxas to stay too! Good thing their dorm room was a little on the spacious side; they had a bit more room than other students.

Roxas's smile turned warm. "Good," he replied softly. Her trust in him meant the world to him. And her opinion of him mattered more than anyone else's. He wouldn't let her down; he was no Owen. "I'll need to get a few things from my room. Care if we take a little detour?" They were almost to the dorms anyway.

Roxas smiled faintly, even if Namine wasn't looking. His thumb glided over the back of her hand, a touch light and soothing. He could tell she was nervous, but she didn't need to be. Not with him. "Yeah," he answered, nodding. "I want to be there for you tonight, if you'll have me." He didn't want to leave her side, not tonight. Not ever, really, but...especially not tonight.

Roxas slowed their walk at the question. Stay the night? he repeated in confusion. Wait, stay the night?! A blush crept up his neck toward his cheeks, and since the sun was setting, he hoped the lack of light made it less obvious. Of course, he thought he caught a hint of a blush on Namine's face too. "Kairi won't mind?" he asked softly, keeping his grasp on her hand. He wouldn't mind staying the night, not at all. Roxas would get more time with Namine, and he could be there for her. He didn't exactly want to leave her side after tonight anyway.

"I guess," Roxas agreed quietly. The officers were morons. It took them way too long to come to their aid. He released a heavy breath and looked at the girl next to him. She was beautiful, inside and out. How could someone not want to be with her? But Owen... He took it too far. Roxas squeezed her hand. "Are you going to be okay?"
