  1. Not Kairi? That's a surprise... Ven looked over the last three choices, trying to think. Kairi, Namine or Serah... "Kairi," he called upon making his decision. He saw Sora look over at him with a startled express, but Ven just shrugged. If you really wanted her, you should have chosen her first.
  2. As Lightning floated to Riku's side, Sora called on his next teammate. "Roxas," he said proudly. He wanted his Nobody on his team--He had been to the island before. If they wanted to find anything, then he'd need his help finding any treasure. Man, if Donald were here, he'd be excited. That duck had an unnatural attraction to anything gold.
  3. Ven looked around, surveying everyone. Yeah, he knew who he was going to pick. "Aqua," he invited with a gleeful smirk. He wanted her on his team, not anybody else's. Now that they had the two people who best knew the island on one team, they had this in the bag.
  4. "I'll be the third," Ven offered willingly. He had to admit, he imagined a lot of people would want to be on his team: after all, he knew the Island best. But whatever team Aqua went on would be good too, since she knew the place as well. That was why he was planning on making her the first member of his team.
  5. "There's nine of us, so...groups of three?" Roxas guessed. That would be the easiest way to divide everyone--the groups would be even and fair. "Anybody wanna volunteer to be team captains and pick teammates?" He wasn't really the leader type, so he'd sit that part out. Though...he hoped to be on Namine's team.
  6. The other boys in the circle nodded their agreement, so Serah's gleeful smile extended. "Great!" she said. "Wanna have a contest? Let's see who can find the best treasure!" They could split into groups or pairs or go alone if they really wanted to. She didn't care just as long as the day was overflowing with excitement...and distractions.
  7. Roxas opened his mouth to congratulate Namine and give her a "good job", but before he could speak, an excited Serah joined their flying group and began talking a mile a minute. "So," Serah said brightly, flying up behind Riku as she set her hands on his shoulders in a sisterly way. "Are we going adventuring? Ven told me that there were treasures..." And even greater than gold was the chance to explore with her friends, and her sister.
  8. Roxas arched a brow slightly, surprised that Namine suddenly wanted to let go. What, did she want to work her way up to flips by flying on her own? "Okay, sure..." he said, slowly loosening his hold on her hand instead of immediately snatching it away. In a way, he was sad to let go. Even if her hand was sweaty from nerves, holding onto her was still insanely wonderful.
  9. "That's alright," Roxas assured Namine casually, not sensing her unease. "It's fun flying around even without the acrobatics." He would do flips and stuff if Namine felt comfortable to let go of his hand, but he was perfectly fine staying with her.
  10. Roxas glanced over at Namine, who still hadn't released his hand since they began flying. She had a fine handle on it and he thought she had enough confidence to let go, but she insisted by tight grip that she wasn't ready. "You're not going to join in the flips anytime soon, are you?" he joked to her.
  11. "So the punishment for nose flicking is death," Lightning said stoically. "I'm remember that." Yeah, as if she would be punished that severely for something so trivial. She turned her head slightly when she sensed movement behind her, but she was too late to stop the arms that wrapped around her waist from behind. For a brief moment, she was terrified. It was the same hold Riku had on her when he yanked her away from Cedric's body. But the voice in her ear reminded her of the context of their situation. "You're flying!" Serah squealed as she hugged her sister from behind. "And you caught on so quick, too! Who ever said you're not a trusting person?" She was seriously impressed with how quick Lightning could fly, and she had no doubt her success involved Riku.
  12. "Ouch Riku," Lightning said. "What if I wasn't flying? You would have dropped me to oblivion just because I flicked your nose." She gave him a look, one of fake-criticism. It was possible that his pixie dust could have surrounded her legs enough to make her look like she was flying before, but then again, her sarcastic remark gave her away.
  13. "I am? No way," Lightning said sarcastically. "I never would have guessed." But even as she said so, she lifted her hand once again and flicked Riku's nose. She didn't know why that was so much fun, but it really was one of her favorite things to do when taunting or teasing him.
  14. "You know what else I'm right about?" Lightning inquired as she let go of Riku. His hold on her was still tight enough to keep her airborne--tight enough to keep her pressed against his chest. But it wasn't necessary. She knew something he didn't know: she already had her faith and trust. She was already airborne on her own.
  15. "Of course I'm right," Lightning agreed with a slight smirk. She...knew Riku. She knew him to be a person who was kind, compassionate, and sincere in at least his actions. But she also knew that he was working on being sincere with his words too. Actions may have spoken louder than words, but words still were spoken and had meaning.
  16. "Nope," Light piped instantly. Riku would never drop her, not even if it was an inch off the ground. Maybe if she was in better shape, he would drop her, but for now, he knew not to. Exacting revenge on her was going to be hard. And speaking of revenge and a certain brunet... When did Riku plan on getting revenge on Sora?
  17. Though Lightning's eyes briefly widened when Riku suddenly took off, she quickly composed herself. "What, was that supposed to scare me?" she taunted. As if. She wasn't the type of person to be scared of heights, even if falling from here would mean death. She wasn't scared...because she knew that Riku wouldn't let her go. She trusted him. Her body immediately became lighter at that realization.
  18. Lightning's superficial smile turned into a more genuine smile as she dared to lift one of her hands and flick his nose. "I hope that wasn't as painful as Tinkerbell's kick," she said as she placed her hand onto his shoulder. She highly doubted it was, considering Riku physically recoiled to the fairy's kick.
  19. "I'm okay," Lightning said, forcing herself to get composed quickly. "I'm okay, see?" She lifted her face out of Riku's shoulder and looked up at him, forcing a smile. But it was very superficial; the pain was still there. She just needed a minute to get over that, and then she'd be better.
  20. "Tch," Lightning winced, eyebrows furrowed and eyes shut as her face hid in Riku's shoulder. That was worse than she expected it to be. But thankfully all the weight was off them now, and the pain would start to go away soon. But there was one good thing that came out of this: being in Riku's secure arms.
  21. "Okay," Lightning said. She shouldn't have been surprised that Riku looked through her and saw her concerns. With her legs, it was pretty obvious. She reached up and grabbed his other hand, working quickly so that the pain would be over just as well. She bent her legs and set her feet on the ground before she pulled herself up with her upper-body strength, the pain dizzying her for a moment.
  22. Lightning hid her nervousness, reaching up to grab hold of Riku's hand. This was going to be painful until she got the hang of flying; she'd have to stand up on her own two legs before take-off and put up with that pain. But still, she had to try...if not for herself, then for Riku. He just put off kicking Sora's butt to help her; that was a big deal.
  23. "My turn to be held over the water? No thanks." But of course, Lightning knew what he was saying. He wanted her to fly along with him and everyone else. She was the last one, after all, and though everyone was trying to hide it, she knew that they were waiting to see her fly too.
  24. "Nice job," Lightning praised, still smirking and holding back a laugh. If Riku heard her laugh at him, she wasn't sure how he'd react. She doubted that he would pick her up and hover her over the water though; he was too kindhearted to put her in that type of situation, especially with her legs being this way.
  25. Lightning shrugged slightly in return, a smirk already lingering on her face do to Sora and Ven's actions. She had to admit that they were hilarious just now, and their methods worked. They got Riku to fly in less than one minute: an impressive feat.
