For all we know Sephiroth from AC/OG probably used the lifestream to cross over to Remake timeline, the said could be same for Aerith, they can't return to the original timeline so both stuck in Remake timeline

Well the first movie was actually not a reboot but a pseudo sequel, because it had Leonard Nimoy future spock come to the reboot/remake timeline near the end to talk to reboot/remake Spock, and the main villain of the movie came from OG timeline and invaded reboot/remake one

While I rather go with the lifestream theory, yes that seems to be a likely scenario it might not turn out as simple as that. If considered the additions of Part 1 changing fate theme it will make things complicated to put 2 and 2 together. So at this point it's hard to say what they are going to do with the story, on the other hand I think the end goal will remain the same at the end.

As much as love that kind of twist, the honest answer is we don't know yet. I don't have a correct answer. All we have is speculation and theories at this point. The only thing I do know for certain is we will have our answers when it actually releases.

Well the thing is I don't think Zack and Cloud will cross paths like at all, more like Zack will be busy in Midgar, while Cloud is busy chasing Sephiroth in Rebirth

My theory is Midgar had turned into a big singularity at the end after they killed the , and now it's cutoff from the outside world. It could explain why we see Jess, Wedge, and Biggs being alive on the other hand they can't leave there either, same with Zack and alternate Cloud

I don't think Zack will wield the Buster sword in Rebirth though

I think from my understanding what they meant was the story will remain the same but they will put additionals like they did with Part 1, now for all we know they might make Zack live in Rebirth, however they might have him killed off differently later in a way it might have more of a emotional impact for Cloud and Aerith, who will likely die too but differently in front of Cloud.
