I think you'd be hard pressed to be able to beat the mobile market there. Especially when you consider development costs in the equation. Much cheaper to market, produce, and support a mobile Gatcha MMO like ML than a full fledged title like FFXIV

No way it's cancelled. There is no basis for that, even if there was no news by year end. Heck, I wouldn't even think it was cancelled if no news by next June. Mobile games (not just square) can have year+ of silence and then just release. That's the market.

Yeah it's unfortunate but I don't think we'll see anything concrete the rest of this year. Would love to be wrong on it. Monster Hunter Now is now in soft launch so AR games keep a churning. It's Niantic though so who cares. That does look the closest in concept though to missing link, so who knows maybe that will push Square to get a release out. It's gameplay looks a lot softer than ML however
