Are any of you going to host it at your school? For those of you who don't know what it is..

 

See You at the Pole is an event in both public and private schools. It has to be COMPLETELY student run. Those willing to participate gather around the school flagpole to pray, in short. This year's theme is REVEAL, and it's on the 22nd. Since I go to a religious school, we're obviously having it. It has to be organized by us ten eighth graders. Yes, there are only ten It's kinda pitiful, actually Here are the ideas we've come up with:

 

I'll read a prayer (the Lord's Prayer) and say our intro. Someone'll do the pledges (American flag, Christian flag, and to the Bible). We'll read a few verses from Scripture, prayers we wrote, history of See You at the Pole, ect. Then as each kid leaves, they have to high-five the flagpole. They'll go back to their classes, and each of us will go to one of their classes and pray with them. I had the idea that we give them some kind of trinket to remember it by, but, meh, not sure we'll do that yet.

 

Do you guys have any ideas that we could add to that? We need it to be longer. Thanks! ^^

well i dont have any ideas, but i thought that when the poster said see you at the pole i thought it was a stripper thing o.O

It's got nothing to do with strippers It's the flagpole. If I'd come up with the name, I definately wouldn't have picked that

The only time my school ever uses the flagpole is when the reenactors come over and we have a whole day dedicated to the civil war and revolutionary war.

 

We salute it, sing the national anthem and other american songs, then we fire off several volleys of musket fire.

 

Then for the rest of the day, I get a bunch of people asking me to let them hold/fire my musket.

 

I say no and threaten them with a bayonet charge ^_^

Oh we had this at my middle school. Went ever year. Teared up a bit. It was amazing.

I have no ideas sadly.

I was involved with organizing it my sophomore and junior year. We just opened with a prayer, holding hands and going around the circle and letting everyone pray that wanted to. After that, I did about a 4 or 5 minute lesson and then we just let everyone eat donuts (gotta have free food!) and socialize until class started.

We do something like that at my church one time the Pope showed up and joined in with us! hehe (In Italy)

This post has made me suddenly scared and happy at the same time.

It went great! *o*

We sang my favorite song, and then a few others I like. Then I made the intro and we all took turns praying, reading verses, explaining the history, ect. I was really nervous, but I managed not to mess up. We sang another song and bought pizza for the whole that day. (It's a religious school, so everyone attends. We missed math class :'D) Thanks for the help! ^^
