Now that the color splash is released, what's the possibility of a thousand year door 2 becoming a thing? I honestly think it won't happen for a few years.

The thousand year door is gone along with the Shadow Queen, the story of that particular event is over. Unless there is another "thousand year door" somewhere in the world with another demon inside, I doubt there is going to be a thousand year door 2 game.

 

If you ask for another Paper Mario then I'm sure it will happen in a couple of years for the Switch, probably.

I really don't think that they're going to revisit Thousand Year Door in any way, unless the game came out for the virtual console (or whatever it may be called for the Switch).  It has been quite some time since its release, and in general they do not make sequels for Paper Mario installments.  I wouldn't really see a reason for the making of a sequel to Thousand Year Door at this point, though I agree with Elrandir that another independent Paper Mario is certainly going to happen.

 TTYD2 doesn't have to be a direct sequel to the game.TTYD2 should be more like a spiritual successor to TTYD. Just like how yaka-laylee is going to be the spiritual successor of banjo-kazooie

It wouldn't be the thousand year door 2 then.

 

Just like yooka laylee is not Banjo Kazooie 3 because it has nothing to do with past games or even the same franchise.

 

I dunno if Paper Mario games after TTYD make any reference from the first two games, if they do then those games would be sequels in a sense.
