Should I watch the ending of X(Chi)?

Posted

Is it safe to watch it? I'm playing Unchained and know it diverges around quest 500 or something but I don't really wanna get spoiled you know? I saw images X(Chi)'s ending but know nothing else except for one or two things about it. Also watched Back Cover so not sure if that affects anything.

Pretty sure it diverges a bit after Quest 500 but not sure bout that. If you really wanna watch it, then just wait for the Castle of Dreams world to be released and then go for it. Back Cover doesn't really contain much importance to X's ending.

If you've watched Back Cover, then you've already seen the ending of Chi, it was in the opening of the movie, with all of that Chi footage of the Keyblade War and everything. But if you want, you should go ahead, there's a good chance that we might not get to witness those events in Unchained. In fact, the ending almost kind of ties into Unchained X being "Season 2" of the original X. Plus, it'd make a good way to pass the time until more news and 1.5+2.5 comes out.

I already knew about those parts because of glorious Youtube thumbnails, but don't know too much about what's really going on in them. I heard about the whole "Season 2" thing but wasn't sure how it connected like that.

You might as well. Seems like Ux is skipping right over that part

Basically Back Cover opens up with a montage of all of the significant events of Kingdom Hearts X (Chi), which for the most part, Unchained X follows. But at a certain point it covers events that X went through that Unchained hasn't reached yet (attack of the Nightmare Chirithy, wielders fighting against other wielders, the Keyblade War, etc.). Now the point where we're supposed to be diverging from X in Unchained X should be coming up soon, as the original X never took the player to Castle of Dreams. A bit of a spoiler, but then not really since Back Cover mentioned it too, but sometime after Ephemer has his conversation with her, Ava has begun sending various Keyblade wielders to the Realm of Sleep in order to train and prepare themselves to fly away from the destruction of the world and keep the light alive to begin the worlds anew. Ephemer is the first of these wielders, and she describes the state he's in as "an Unchained state". Thus, it can be assumed that the game we've all been playing, Unchained X, is that state Ephemer is sent to, a recreation of the world in the Realm of Dreams (though I guess that doesn't explain too well why Dream Eaters like Chirithy are able to manifest in the real version of the world. But the MoM made them, so maybe it's some kind of forbidden magic or something...?). The way the original X ends almost suggests this fate, as it ends to give room for the "continuation" of the story in Unchained X.

No, when haven't passed over X's story yet. If we should be seeing the Keyblade war soon so wait, but if we don't then you should watch it.

Odds are really looking like we wont be...unless Square surprises us, but we're pretty much confirmed to be going to Cinderella's world either this month or next, and it was never part of the original X's scenario, so again, likely not. But we'll have to see, I'm personally hoping for them to turn it into a "very vivid dream" event where the player is just experiencing/re-experiencing all of it as one dream before he wakes up for a mission in Enchanted Dominion or something. It'd tie both X and Unchained X together really nice, especially for most of us English players who never got a chance to play X.

But season 2 hasn't started yet and we just recently met skuld, I think the worlds that they are introducing now are worlds that they wanted to put in X but couldn't because the game was dying.

Well who knows? Since it's too early to say, you might be right. I'm kind of falling on my old argument I always have "We don't know anything yet, so everything is both likely AND unlikely", but in this case it really is true. They said it's supposed to diverge from X around this point, but to what capacity they never said. Maybe we will actually end up experiencing the final events of X,  only with a few more new worlds in-between, or maybe things will end up proceeding the way they did in X and we just continue on from the post-credits ending with Cinderella's world and other new worlds. Or, it simply doesn't move towards the Keyblade War and we really are meant to experience things differently. In any case, we should be finding out a bit more about which direction we are heading in the next few weeks and months.

I would think they would have to show it mostly because of Back Cover. Everybody who didn't know about X and only played Inc would be lost.
