is there some connection or just plain old coincidence that Riku attains the same outfit as Vanitas in kh1?(not including color scheme)

Yes there is the connection. The suit represents darkness. Wearing the whole suit, and helmet represents Pure Darkness. But just wearing the suit. Without the helmet, like riku, means he has so much darkness in his heart that he is close to being pure darkness. But he has one sliver of light in him

thats just an assumption. im not sure of the reason but if i had to guess i would say that it has to do with xehanorts connection to them.

OK! ALL the things that I have noticed about this and something I think might be connected-

Ok so both Riku and Vanitas have the dark suit AND both Riku and Vanitas do the thing where they stick out there hand in the intro AND Vanitas says "What's wrong? Giving up already?" (Riku's line) AND they both kinda hold their Keyblade the same way AND... (heres the OTHER thing I mentioned) Ok why do I keep saying OK? you all know how they are always talking about how much darkness is in Riku's heart, yet when Terra goes to the islands he looks at Riku and senses a strong LIGHT inside of Riku... AND another thing, in the secret ending when it shows Terra and Xehanort talking Xehanort says that Terra is just ONE of the paths he might decide to follow... I have a feeling Xehanort has once again done something to give me yet ANOTHER reason to whack him on head.

Wow, that all makes sense khoathkeeper13! My prediction is that if Zehanort comes back, he's not gonna go for Terra, but for Riku.

Yeah I'm kinda guessing that he planed to take over Riku in BBS and didn't just do it in KH1, and maybe he had put some of Vanitas's darkness in him or something like that? Not sure if that sounded like a very good possiblity or just stupid

Nomura confirmed there is a connection between Riku and Vanitas, I don't just think it's their darksuits either. There's more to their connection and i'm sure we will find out what it is in a later game.

Maybe it'll be explained it KH3D plz! its bothering me!!! grrr I want a trailer already!!
