The idea of magnet and reflect are excellent don't get me wrong

Reflect is cool

But like

I just dont like having it be a broken thing for 90% of the fights

I personally feel you can put magic anywhere in the combo of KH1 unlike 2 where it's either the start or end of one

Like in KH2, I never really felt like offensive magic was really worth it?

Like fire with shadows but that was kinda it

Even tho 2 let you continue a combo anyway haha

Yeah up until you get magnet and reflect you never use magic in that game as a pure offensive ability

Reflect may do damage but it's still defensive

Blizzard was kinda worthless imo, in 2

Blizzaga felt fun to use every now and then cause it did loads of damage

But until then eh
Once you get thunder you have no reason to use anything else due to elemental weakness being taken out

In kh1, the only projectile based magic attack was fire and that was fun cuz it homed

But in kh2, blizzard isn't homing

Man sniping with Firaga in KH1 with those flying ship heartless

It's just in a straight line and feels sorta lame

The ship enemies were brilliant

They really were

Teching them to break parts of the ship is something I wish the games did more

The fun part is that if you play it right
It's rare to be fully empty on magic in KH1

Unlike in 2 where yeah you technically don't need ethers cause recharge but you still have to wait and MP Rage is useless

Also getting magic back by attacking is nice

@Orpheus Joshua in top of the fact that the orange bar helps you not use a full bar of magic when you cure

Kh1 doesn't get enough credit for what it does well

Part of why I don't want a remake of it. Feel like Square would change a lot of what makes it unique

I personally think cause there isn't enough in the game to push its limits like the data fights in KH2FM

Tho I'd argue that Phantom and Kurt Zisa do a hella better job testing your skills but what do I know

I think Phantom is kinda dumb but yeah. Kurt Zisa is great

And Ice titan is tedious but does its job

It's execution could be improved
But the idea of it is amazing
