Cracks in the Crystal Ball;

"The future can't be changed. Live to fulfil your purpose, and don't outstep your bounds. The life you have is precious, and yours alone. So follow your path and never once stray from it, for there is no point in challenging fate."

From their birth, a person's entire life is already mapped out for them. Set futures, determined by the prophecies pertaining to a small group of clairvoyant men and women stationed in each city. Their future is no longer a mystery- they know everything, and are expected to live out that one path. Taught that to conform and resign to whatever their future is set out to be is the only way, the public is chained to a set life. Everything is planned for, prepared for, and accepted. And no one strays from what their future is supposed to be.

But some futures are hard to deal with, especially for the individual concerned. Every now and again, people can't stand to bear the thought of what is mapped out for them, and they break the pattern. Try and crack the faith, even just a little. If they attempt to avoid whatever it is in their future they don't wish to face, however, most of society isn't just going to sit back and let them change the future. Ripples make waves, and even trying to alter their own fates can cause terrible repercussions for others...

Name: Timberlin "Timber" Ashcroft

Age: 19

Personality: Timber is quite stubborn. He has a hard time trusting others, especially those who claim that they can change his fate. He has a tendency to talk to himself. He is very observant of some situations, though he can sometimes overthink things.

Bio: At the age of six, Timber was told by his two parents and their priest that he was destined to kill his sister. He thought that it was all rubbish, for he didn't have a sister. However, nine months later, he was proven wrong.

Over the years, he was able to see why he would kill his sister. She was loud, annoying, and distractive. Yet, at the age of twelve, Timber discovered something that was odd to him. His sister looked up to him, depended on him. This girl's role as the younger sister had taken a toll on Timber. He suddenly found himself protective over him and, eventually, denying both of their destinies.

However, Timber became suspicious of everyone else. His parents, his priest, everyone. The more that they talked to him about his destiny, the more he was convinced that they were going to force his fate onto him. Paranoia led him to send his - then - nine-year-old sister away. He believed it to be best if he never saw his sister again. Sickened of his family, he left his home a month later.

Appearence: He has short, fading-black hair. His eyes are an amber color, very much like his mother's. He currently wears a white button-up shirt with a beige vest, black dress pants, and dress shoes.

Sample:

"Who are you to say what I should do?" Timber demanded. His parents merely looked down at him with saddened, misty eyes. Suddenly, a mischievous smirk grew on his lips. "You know, you didn't have to tell me. That would've made this whole situation a lot simpler, but no. You had to make things difficult. Do you want me to break or something?! Some sad excuse of parents you are."

"Timbe--" his mother began, her voice cracking as she neared tears.

At the sight of his wife in pain, Timber's father marched up to him with a stern finger, exclaiming, "Listen here, young man! Stop your rebellion this instant, or--"

"Or what?" Timber intervened. "You're going to lecture me? Ha! I'd expect better from you, Father. Then again, I expected many things. I expect you to hit me, hoping that I would whip into shape. I expect you to lock me in my room as a way of punishment. I expect you to make sure that I don't hurt my sister, your own daughter!" A shocked expression planted on his father's face. He was unable to find any words. Timber's smug look faded away. "Tch. Just as I expected." As Timber headed for the front door, he murmured, "I wish that it was my fate to kill you both..."

Name: Alia (goes by the nickname "Tilt") Fairmont

Age: 13

Personality: She's usually pretty happy, oddly. But Tilt's temper can get ahold of her. She'll get cocky and angry if you tick her off, and it's hard for her to let things go. Other than that, though, she's usually bubbly and friendly, open to meeting others. Tilt can be social, and does like to have friends, but she's sort of shy--a strange mix. She won't talk to someone, usually, if they don't talk to her first.

Bio: Alia had grown up in a pretty abusive home. She'd never felt much closeness to her family, as hard as she tried to. When she was eight, they'd forced her to see what at school they called "the future seer dudes". Alia's parents had been thrilled when her future had been told. Runway model. Every girl's dream.. except for Alia. She wanted to be anything BUT--it disgusted her. Alia'd run away from home so many times, trying to escape that future. She knew what she wanted to be, and she wasn't going to let some psychic freak tell her otherwise. Alia had assumed the nickname Tilt because of her one love: climbing. Of course, this conflicted greatly with the clairvoyant's prediction of being a model. Finally, Tilt decided that she was done with being forced to do things she didn't want to do--go the beauty contests, shopping, ect. She might not become the famous climber she wished to be, but, hell, anything was better than this. Tilt couldn't stand it. She was getting out of here. Now.

I'm just going to copy & paste from another RP, 'cause it's impossible to type on iPhone. Period.

Skyler looked away quickly. He seemed to be staring at her--trying to remember her name or even what color her hair was; something trivial. She stood up, brushing off her mid-thigh-length skirt. Skyler, honestly, didn't like them. But, well, it was a wierd vampire thing. How else did you get your "prey", other than looking so utterly gorgeous they were stopped in their tracks? Their instincts would be screaming for them to run--something had to counter that. She tucked away a strand of her wavy blonde hair.

Cautiously, she walked over to Enzo. She sort of knew him. In a creepy, stalkerish, Skyler's-nosy-and-wants-to-know-everything-about-everyone kind of way. It was in a vampire's nature to be careful and know-it-all about everything. Skyler considered herself an exception to every single rule in the Big Blood-Covered Book of Rules About Vampires. Except for maybe her craving for blood. At that thought, the pain in her throat spiked intensely.

Skyler swallowed, trying to think of anything not.. not RED. She walked up to that boy--Enzo. "Hi," She offered.
