Hey everyone. We're considering redesigning the website. This means keeping the old content, but changing the way everything looks and such. So, we just wanted to get your input on this.

 

What do you like about our current design?

What do you dislike/hate?

What should we try and improve on?

 

AaronDesign has made a template for what he believes the new website should look like, which you can view at http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/5684/pasteddataebc8ou7.jpg. Do you like this or prefer the old website?

i like the current design becuase it's pretty easy to find everything...

i don't necessarily dislike anything in particular...

looking at the "new" design, i like how it's all nice and organized (i'm the kind of person who can and will get lost anywhere, even on the internet. lol, my stupidity. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smiley-confuse.png). The only thing i really don't like about the new tmeplate is the picture. it's kind of bland...

quite honestly, though, i really could care less what happened to the website. both templates look fine to me.

Yeh, the banner was just a test, to see what something would look like, and i would be deifinitly interested if any of you wanted to try to make a banner. Just post it on the forum

well.....maybe there could be a place added for user submitted work...liike videos/fanfictions/artwork/etc....

I agree. Like you can call it "User Creativity". Ok, that sounds lame. But the idea is cool.

We've planned to have all of those different sections. If you go to the link again you will see them under the "Media" heading.

question: what's soundtrack? like, are you going to put up the official kingdom hearts soundtracks, or is that part of the user submitted stuffs?

and what's "sprites"? are you planning on putting soda up too?? @.o

We're considering that; although there are some legal doubts as to whether we could upload the soundtrack. Most likely we'll just have information about it.

 

Sprites will be similar to http://www.khinsider.com/khinsider/sprites.html.

 

I'll just go over what we've done so far:

- The main layout and index page is done. Obviously news doesn't show here yet, but it won't until we replace our current site.

- The "Games" and "Videos" selection pages are done.

- Search is functional.

- Chat/About/Contact/Affiliate are done.

- Under videos, the main pages for KH/CoM/KH2 are done.

I think you have to have Java installed.

no, i have java, it just says that it can't identify the publisher of whatever's being downloaded, so it won't download. i just have to fix my settings, that's all...

Yes, we're looking forward to completing it. Aaron and I are both on holidays this week, so we can't really post much or work on the site, however I estimate it will be ready for release in around two weeks.

News is a bit slow at the moment, so I'll start giving you daily updates on the progress of the new website.

 

Today I made sure that the website works properly in all browsers. Safari and IE7 had small problems which I've now fixed. IE6 isn't working at all, so I'm doing that atm.

 

Next I have to make video pages for Coded/Days/BbS. I also have to finish the media section and make pages for selecting videos, as well as the pages for downloading/watching videos.

Browser compatibility list (with the new site):

 

Chrome 1.0 - Perfect

Chrome 2.0 - Perfect

Firefox 2.0 - Wrong by a couple of pixels, but doesn't matter

Firefox 3.0 - Perfect

IE 6.0 - Perfect (with changes to code)

IE 8.0 - Perfect (with changes to code)

Netscape 7.0 - Broken

Opera 9.6 - Perfect

I should fix Netscape 7.0 because around 1% of our viewers are still using that... so that will be my next task. Actually, that's pretty difficult. I might work on completing pages and then address the Netscape issue later.

 

I've also drawn up a list of things that need to be done before and after I release the site, so that should help me complete it faster.

 

Currently I believe that the site will be released by the end of January at the latest.
