't xemnas wield a keyblade

 

Can Xemnas wield a keyblade, and he just never chose use it? I say yes.

 

For him to wield, presumabely, he should have acquired the ability in the same manner as Roxas. Roxas in kh2 was believed to have the ability to wield because he was Sora's nobody, and so we could say that Xemnas can wield because he is a nobody of a wielder. But things get a little more complicated because Roxas has a heart but xemnas doesn't. The final detail to this question is that Roxas can duel wield after absorbing xion (not her keyblade, but it did awaken something. Probably Sora's keyblade becasue she is his clone), and because there are just as many keyblades to wield as qualified hearts, Roxas must have been using both Sora's and Ventus' keyblade. So Xemnas can use Terranorts keyblade if all other conditions such as remembering that he can are met.

 

So why didn't he use it, or what might he have used it for that we didn't know of.

Supposedly, Nomura said that Xemnas did have Terra's heart or something along those lines. I think the keyblade resides with Terra's armor and couldn't be summoned because it was with Terra's mind. I can't say for sure though.

I positive he never said that Xemnas never had Terra's heart. You may be confusing this with Riku having some of Terra in him. If the lingering sentiment does restrict Xemnas access to the keyblade, he could still use master xehanort's keyblade.

Oh, typo. I've been tired today, otherwise I wouldn't have restated what was said. I'm still tired, so I'll leave it as a mystery, and I'm sure we'll find out later or not.

A possible reason Xemnas can't wield a Keyblade is because Xehanort's heart was locked at the end of BBS.

 

While that is a possible answer, I think the idea that Xemnas could use a Keyblade but choose not to for some reason is more interesting and could have some cool story possibilities.

Care to explain how he opened the door then, or rather, how the door appeared. If you recall, Xehanort was the subject of some number of experiments regarding his memory and darkness, and Braig must have been up to something, so he very likely, almost certinly, got back to remember how to wield a keyblade.

A good point. That does put a damper on theory that Apprentice Xehanort (and Xemnas) were unable to use a Keyblade. The only possible argument I can think of against this point is that (if I am remembering correctly) Riku opened the Destiny Islands door before he truly had a keyblade, but I am unsure of the course of events during that part of the story, so it could be nothing.
