In the fist paragraph when it says "They moved along a strange path where they glided to and from various rocks, at times they fell beneath and had to fight heartless. At the end of the path they fought a behemoth and eliminated it." they actually were navigating an invisible maze sort of with the exception of the rocks pointing in the direction that would lead you in the right direction. This is evident when you fight the first battle and you can see the cave where you emerged from. So somehow being inside these spheres of darkness let you see what is really there. Also in the second paragraph the strange room should be noted to be where ansem conducted his experiments.

something about this world felt so cool maybe it was the music maybe the purple everywhere or the fact there is darkness :D
