It was growing dark out. The sun blazing red on the horizon.

He was driving on an overpass above a deep sinkhole in the center of a forest. A forest that had long ago died.

This forest, unlike most every other on the planet, was not going to be taken down to make room for more technology. But only by the fact it was unstable ground.

The year is 2034. The world has changed. Technology got the better of civilization, and now, everyone was a slave to it.

With these advancements in our technology, science also became more superior.

If by superior, you mean sinned against nature. Scientists have moved on from such things as finding cures for cancer. They've gone on into genetic splicing. Cloning. And the like. They've resurrected the extinct, with replication Dinosaurs roaming around in modern Zoo's. You may even spot a Dodo bird flying overhead now and then.

But they also have grown quite a nasty habit.

That being using humankind as lab rats.

But, there is living proof that Science and Technology doesn't have to be the only thing you live for.

Aaron lived for life. He was once a normal kid. He went to school. He watched TV. But it all changed.

One day, men in white coats, with pens in their pocket and clipboards in hand, approached him. They told him to step into the principals office. He did.

They said to him, "Aaron, you're not in trouble. But we do have an offer for you. One that you probably will have a hard time refusing."

After that, they went on the explain that Aaron had been chosen for a program of some form. And that if he accepted, he will be doing a service to himself, to his family, and his world. He agreed.

Don't you hate it when people lie through their teeth? They took Aaron, and experimented on him. Or, at least they were going to. But Aaron's will to live took precedence over anything else. And he fought back. And he prevailed. And now, he was on the run.

He had been on the run for almost five years. And he still is.

Aaron reached over and grabbed the black motorcycle helmet. He put it on, and slid the visor down. It was tinted, so no one could see his face.

For that matter, everything he wore was black. His helmet, his gloves, his pants and boots, his shirt, and his knee length coat. Even the boke he drove.

Without the headlights on, he was practically invisible at night. And that's when he moved. At night, where no one could see him.

He put the key in the ignition, and the bike roared to life. Just as the sun slipped beneath the horizon, everything grew black. The center line on the road in front of him glowed, as did the barriers on either side. The road was not the pavement like they used to be. It was a ten inch thick sheet of plexiglass. Unlike the type used in the past, this was a new invention. It could support any weight, and it was 90% cheaper then any road before it.

The lights cast a blue glow on the glass, creating a very eery enviroment.

Time to go.

Aaron hit the gas, and he was on the move, his black leather coat flowing behind him. The wind sheer blowing hard against his helmet. He was used to this, but it never got old. The sound of the engine-

Wait. The sound of the engine's.

Aaron looked back. Sure enough. Three blood red bike were roaring behind him. The riders, also in red, held guns in their free hands. And they were aimed at Aaron.

He turned the handlebars to the left quickly, at the same time, he hit the breaks. The other riders zoomed right past him. A slow reaction time. Were they even human? They seemed so choreographed. Aaron turned the other way, and drove as fast as the bike could.

POP, is the only thing Aaron heard as he and the Bike flew off of the Overpass, and into the dead forest below.

The city seemed to glitter as the light hitted the crytal buildings, and roads. With minerals running low,and determined to make the roads smoother and buildings more,'classier' and 'higher class looking',practically all of the buildings and roads were made out of crystal,or smooth metal on the outside. In this city, only those who could sustained seemed to excist. There were poor and unstable. But the truth was, they were never ever seen in a daily live from most knowledge of most kids and adults. In the top of one of the highest buildings there could be heard a soft music of a piano. On the soft, black sofa was a girl sitting down playing with her cellphone, the latest edition out. The piano was in a whole other small room that had a view to the city since the walls were crystal transparent for the inside to see the outside. It was playing by itself. Why waste time learning when you can get it to play anything you want? That was in the mind of most people. A woman came and walked over the animal skin rub and over to the sofa. She was dressed in silk dress and gold. She kissed the girls head. "See you tomorow Marina."She said as she then walked out the door. Marina was her name. Marina Rocecrant. Daughter of the chief of security, left hand of the governer of the place. Marina sighed and looked outside to see the sun setting. "Was it always like this?"Marina asks herself as she looked outside the window and at the horizon. She remembered her grandma's stories and words.

"I could look outside and see mountains everywhere. The universe was unknown. The past was no longer there. It was much more facinating to imagene what could have been out there, and what could the posibilities be. Also to imagene how it was like back then than in the present. It was more fun to imagene the past and future, and to live the present. But all has changed so much."

Marina looked out the window.

Aaron's eyes blinked open, he looked up into the pale light of dawn through a cracked visor. He allowed himself to groan... he looked down at his body. Everything hurt, it was stressful to move. He saw his torn clothing, the open cuts. The black and blue bruises. He smelled burnt oil and rubber, and looked to his right to see what was left of his bike, beyond repair. The Riders in Red, they tricked him into turning around, right into a row of spikes. His tires popped, he lost control, and both he and the bike had gone over the edge. It would be easy for them to assume that he was dead.

Why wasn't he?

Aaron didn't think it was in his best interest to try and stand. In the case he had a broken limb... so he just lied there. Dried up blood caking his skin and clothing, open wounds causing him to wince at so much as a gentle breeze.

A white sabertooth came to the living room. He had a leather and diamond encrusted collar around it's neck. It walked over to Marina and layed down besides the sofa where she sat. Marina turned and petted the Sabertooth. The Sabartooth growled, but in pleasure as he liked to be petted by his owner. "There there Soul. Mommy and daddy are gone."Marina says. Then she realized. "They're gone..."She sighed. She then got on her feet and stood up. The Sabertooth stared at her. "I'm going for a walk around. I can't stay here and let my legs become numb."Marina says as she started to walk out. The door opened. The Sabertooth simply layed there and lowered his head as he returned to fall asleep. Marina walked outside and the door closed. She walked over to an elevator and the door closed. She then went down and in seconds she was in the lobby. She walked outside. "Afternoon walk Ms.Rocecrant?"The porter asked. "Yes."Marina responded in courtesy as she then turned and walked away from her aparment building down the street with her hands in her pockets.

The sun was rising. The heat cooking Aaron under the all black outfit he wore. Ugh... this was going to be very uncomfortable.

But, wait. Where was the logic in what he was doing? Lie here? Waiting for the riders in red to come back for him? He had to take the risk. If he didn't move now, he might never have another chance.

He hesitantly raised his leg up, it was moving relatively painlessly. It wasn't broken. He moved the other as well. Not broken. He wiggled his shoulders. Not dislocated. He could move his neck, so it wasn't broken, nor was his collar bone. He sat up. And looked at his arms. They weren't broken, but the cloth was torn. And the skin on his right forearm was torn to hell... he must have dragged it down against a tree as he fell. The skin was shredded off. It was horribly bruised and bloody... and the friction of falling against the tree like that had burned him as well.

Ow.

Marina's cellphone rang as she knew it was a text messege. She took her phone out and read the text. " 'Will be back home in a few days-love mom.' "Marina read and later sighed. "Here we go again." They would alayws do this. They'd say it was only a few hours and would end up a few days. Marina walked around. She saw the cars passing by,they wouldn't made much sound with the roads being so smooth. She then stopped when she stopped and she could see from affar the city's limits. It was a huge crystal wall. That would then have a road that later on leaded to a forest, what was left of life on this planet. Marina kept staring and then walked towards there. She got there and looked at the forest. She looked around. And for the first time, she entered out of the crystal city. She started to walk around. It was so dark,so...moist. There was...dirt on her shoes. It felt soft. Marina had never ever ever in her live gotten out of the city. This was a first. She then walked around and swore she heard something. She looked around. "Anyone here?!"Marina asks wondering if she wasn't lone in the forest area. She starte dto walk foward. "Hello?!"

Aaron was stumbling foward, his feet clumsy. He used trees to support his weight... but it was ineffectual. He collapsed to the ground, he winced. And then looked up to stare at a pair of shoes. He followed his glance upward. It was a girl... she looked at him curiously.

He felt woozy. His head spinned. Everything was so confusing. It might be the blood loss, but he didn't feel so good inside. He fell unconscious again. Right at her feet.

Marina stared at him and then kneeled down. "You allright?"Marina asks. Then she realized how idiotic that was. Of course he wasn't ok. He was uncounceous on the floor in the middle of the forest. Marina got to him and looked at him. His clothes was ripped a bit in some places. She looked at him. He was out cold. "What should I do..."Marina says. She then got his arm around her shoulder and tried to get him up. She then starte dto drag him. What the hell what she doing? She had no idea herself. She just felt she needed to help him. For some reason. She got him inside the city and so she dragged him towards her aparment to get him healed.

Aaron woke up. Again. This time it was in a dark room. Made even darker by the helmet on his face. He got up. He was still wearing his torn clothes... but the blood on his arms had been washed away. And the injuries had been bandaged...

He spun around in all directions. He couldn't see anything. He ripped the helmet off. That was better... without the tint of the visor, he could see SOME of the room. Enough to find a light switch on the wall. Inside the room was a variety of fancy looking furniture. A large, Plasma screeb TV projecting 4d images. The colors were a pleasant mixture of blacks and blues, Much like the bruises covering Aarons body.

He spun around again, and this time he faced a wall. It was made of a crystal like material. He could see his reflection.

Aaron had dirty blonde haird with bright blue eyes. He was thin, but not a rail. He had managed to get enough food for himself, amazingly. He guess that he wasn't much taller then 5'9''. But he never really cared enough to measure.

Hmm. He looked scraggly. His hair out of place... dirt smears. Obviously, whoever had taken him in hadn't bothered lifting his helmet.

He turned towards the doorway, intent on finding out where he was, and who it was that found him.

He was stopped in his tracks by a girl.

Marina looked at the boy. "You're awake."Marina says. Then the white Sabertooth tiger came and started to get near him growling and showing off it's fangs. Marina shook her head and took him by the collar and pulled him away. "No boy."Marina says as she pulled him away from the room. Marina turned to the boy. "Um,I found you in the forest. You were pretty banged up so I brought you here to my aparment and bandadged your wounds. M-My parents aren't home,so you don't need to worry about getting kicked out,you can stay for the night if you wish."Marina says trying to be polite.

Aaron was rendered speechless. This girl was... something. He didn't know her, but yet he was already feeling drawn into her as if under some kind of spell. Her long chestnut hair that he could hardly restrain from reaching out and touching, her brown eyes...

Beautiful.

He mentally slapped himself. And came to his senses, asking a question. "Does anyone else know that I'm here?"

Marina thinks. "Kind of. People did saw me drag you up here. I was called and asked who you were. I didn't knew so I just told them it was a friend. So they do,but not in specific."Marina says as she stared at the boy in a curious matter. His blue eyes were stunning. They seemed to only look even more stunning as the bright neon blue light gave a faint hit towards them and made them what seemed to shine a bit. The Sabrtooth growled from the living room. "Never mind Soul though. He just gets grumpy and easily over portective."Marina says. She looked back at the boy. "I'm Marina. What's your name?"Marina asks.

Aaron was shy about giving out details about himself. What if she was a spy for the scientists? Her beauty and kindness a surefire way to get Aaron to say something incriminating.

But when he looked in her eyes, he didn't see deception.

"I'm Aaron. Keep it to yourself though..." he said, giving out a warning on instinct.

The Sabretooth tiger grimaced at him from the other side of the room. Aaron couldn't help but wonder why.

"And.. uhm. Thank you. Marina. For helping me..."

He didn't want to tell her yet just how much danger she had put herself in.

Marina noded. "Your welcome."Marina says. She then sligtly turned and then walked out of the room and back around the aparment. She went to the kitchen and grabbed a glass. She then went over to a machine and pressed a button, then ice-cubes and some water poured into the glass. Normal thing considering all of the technology. She then walked over to the boy and handed to him. "Here, you must be thirsty."Marina says trying to be polite to him, since he was a guest right now. The Sabertooth roared. Marina turned to him. "Don't worry soul. You're not gonna be replaced."Marina says. The Sabertooth then lowered his head and closed his eyes. Marina turned to him. "Where did you come from? How did you ended up in the forest wounded so badly?"Marina asks as she gets a wet towel and walked over to him. She then passed the wet towel around his cheeks and face. "Sorry, your face is a bit dirty."Marina says.

Aaron gladly accepted the ice cold water. He picked every drop clean within a few seconds time.

"I don't want to make you feel paranoid, but is it okay if I keep the answer to your question to myself for now? I trust you... but-" he said, stopping, afraid he would make her more scared then she probably already was.

He took the towel, nodding towards her as a thank you. He wiped his face clean... it didn't really do that much.

"Is it okay if I took a quick shower though?"

Marina noded. "Sure. Follow me."Marina says as she walks down the hall and then opens a door. It shows a really high-class like bathroom. Marina entered and then opened a door and took out a towel,a robe,a brand new soap, and some shampoo. "Here you go."Marina says as she gets all of the stuff on the bathroom counter. She turns to him. "If there's anything else. Just ask."Marina says as she then leaves the bathroom for him to shower. The white sabertooth growled. Marina petted it and it calmed down. "Let's be good hosts. No harming anyone."Marina says as she then walks over to her room.
